About

Blue Öyster Cult is an American rock band formed in New York in 1967. The group is well known for three songs: The 1976 single "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" from the album Agents of Fortune, the 1981 single "Burnin' for You" from the album Fire of Unknown Origin, and "Godzilla" (1977) from Spectres . The band is a pioneer in heavy metal music both for its hard-edged musical assault and its use of sci-fi and occult imagery.

  • Blue Oyster Cult Rocks

by Skoshee on 7/3/10Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Blue Oyster Cult was so so good. I have seen them about 30 times and they always put on a great show. They change the playlist so often and have so many different songs to play that each show is different. All of the band members are talented and play to the audience. I cant wait to see them again. The first time I saw them was in 1978 at Nassau Collesium... they rocked then and they rock now!!!

  • they still rock

by reggaeguy on 7/3/10Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

There's only 2 original band members left but the replacements were very good especally the drummer.

  • Still Burning

by Rcinva on 7/3/10Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

I may be biased because I love this band so much, but I'm amazed at good they still are. There is so much energy in the show and the songs still blow me away. Best band ever! I've seen them 6 times now and will keep going as long as they are willing to keep playing.

  • Then came the last days of May

Playing twice in one night dictates that the band play a short but sweet set and B.O.C. did not fail. The only problem is that after, so many years and so many albums with so many songs available in their library, that you know not everyone will walk away satisfied. They simply can't play all their songs. Someone will always gripe about not hearing "the" song that they wanted to hear. I've seen B.O.C. 16 times over the years, from arena rockers to where they are now in their career, playing casino's and the like. But Eric Bloom and Buck Dharma do not disappoint. In this very small casino ballroom, the band did an excellent job of recreating the sounds that made them famous. However, there was one thing that bugged me, as much as I do love B.O.C., the little green laser beam they used with their light show was humorous at best. In the old days B.O.C. was all about the light show and they lit up arenas around the globe with an astonishing display of laser beams. This little green laser that was used at this show was laughable but didn't really take away from the great musicianship on stage. The other guitar player, not Buck, was sensational. Sorry I didn't catch his name. He and Rudy Sarzo on bass were great additions to the band. As long as B.O.C. continues to tour, you can count on me, coming back to their shows!

Great show, they still jam and have a lot of fun; so did we. Godzilla & Don't Fear the Reaper closed out a nice selection.

  • They just keep rockin

by thebigbq on 6/19/10Skagit Valley Casino Pacific Showroom - BowRating: 5 out of 5

I saw both shows in Bow WA, they repeated 5 songs in the second show which was expected. For me, I enjoyed the shows because the played some different older songs. Buck is an amazing guitar player and you can tell that the band enjoys what they are doing. The BOC fans are hard core, I usually see fans from previous shows and enjoy talking to them. My son and I shook Buck's hand after the second show. No guitar pick this time, but I did get both set lists. I enjoyed the vigil because of the UFO theme. I enjoyed Teen Archer.

  • Not too bad

by vid33 on 6/13/10Skagit Valley Casino Pacific Showroom - BowRating: 4 out of 5

Lead singer sounded pretty good for someone who has been around forever. I have been to shows (Jethro Tull for example) where I was really dissapointed because the singer lost his singing voice long ago. The band was tight, and I especially liked the playing of the bassist. They didn't play "I love the night" or "Nosferatu", but may have played them in their second set. I would have also liked to hear "Summer of Love". They did play "Burning for You" and of course "Don't fear the Reaper". These along with many from the first album. I have a feeling that they mix it up pretty good, and no show is going to be identical. One thing to consider is that if you don't have iron clad eardrums, at least bring a pair of earplugs with you just in case. I'm not too old, my ears are, and judging from the average age of the crowd, there may have been others that felt the same.

  • BOC was AWESOME!!!

by BOCFan4Life on 6/12/10Skagit Valley Casino Pacific Showroom - BowRating: 5 out of 5

Although the playlist was short the intensity was off the freakin' chart. These guys rocked like there was no tomorrow. Richie Constellano ( Bucks protoge) gets better and better every show. Rudy Sarzo (formerly with Quite Riot, Whitesnake, and DIo) has been playing bass with them for the last two years and is finding his niche with the group. He is a bit shy and would rather play behind the greats than be out in the spotlight, but he deserves the spot light. His finger work is approaching an apex. I pray this guy stays with the group for a very long time. He is a premeir bass player. Buck (Donald Roeser) was awesome as usual. He is 60 and can still play with the best of them. Eric Bloom the quintessential front man knows how to promote a show from the stage and is always quick with a joke. It is hard to beleive that a mixture of youth and and senior citizenship can produce such a great show.

  • Blue Oyster Cult was good but not great

    by SS555 on 6/1/10Soldiers Memorial - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

Overall I enjoyed seeing BOC again but they are only a pale image of BOC from 70s and 80s.

  • boc great

by chuckhay on 6/1/10Soldiers Memorial - St LouisRating: 4 out of 5

Foghat was very good put on a great show and great classic music with a new blues tune from an up coming cd. BOC was great all the classics and well worth going to see would have been better with a bigger light set and after dark but for the price was an great show

  • Bkue Oyster Cult at Tioga Downs Casino

by fpewrojafdbjsl on 5/31/10Tioga Downs - NicholsRating: 1 out of 5

Awful - I enjoyed losing money in the casino more than their music. Couldn't even sit through the whole thing - just glad I didn't spend too much on the tickets.

  • Blue Oyster Cult was amazing!

    by puppyloverof2 on 5/29/10Tioga Downs - NicholsRating: 5 out of 5

My husband & I were very impressed, due to the band members ages (and ours, lol) but the guitar playing exceeded our expectations and every single band member's solo was beyond impresseive. Blue Oyster Colt ROCKED.....thirty years later and no doubt have a lot of years left of unbelievable entertainment!

  • Blue Oyster Cult still rocks

    by geoah54 on 5/29/10Tioga Downs - NicholsRating: 4 out of 5

Tioga was a great place for a show. Free Parking and good food and drink prices. Blue Oyster Cult was great. They still rock Was worth the 1 1/2 hour drive. Wished they played a little longer and was a little louder.

  • Blue Oyster Cult was solid

    by DavidMac04 on 5/29/10Tioga Downs - NicholsRating: 4 out of 5

Great show. They are tight as always. My only complaint is that the show was about 80 minutes. With the wealth of material to choose from, they could have squeezed in another 30 to 40 minutes. Rudy Sarzo has been a wonderful addition to the group. This is the first time in seeing BOC that the bass stood out in the mix.

  • classic

Classic band, classic music. A must see for the classic rock fan!

We have probably seen BOC in concert over 25 times in the last 38 years and they are still just as great as they have ever been. Keep on rockin' guys!!!

by Goldlincoln on 5/18/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 5 out of 5

I wasn't very familiar with the band and went to the show mainly for the Mark and Brian segment. I was amazed at how good of a show those guys put on. Thanks for a great night BOC!

  • Way, Way Too Loud!

by Anonymous on 5/17/10Morongo Casino Resort and Spa - CabazonRating: 1 out of 5

Had great seats. Sound was terrible. Bass much to loud and overpowered the other musicians. Could barely hear the singers. Very surprising that the audio techs. let this happen. First concert at this venue. We probably won't go here again. Having a rock concert in a tent on a parking lot with terrible acoustics just isn't worth it!
