About

Blue Öyster Cult is an American rock band formed in New York in 1967. The group is well known for three songs: The 1976 single "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" from the album Agents of Fortune, the 1981 single "Burnin' for You" from the album Fire of Unknown Origin, and "Godzilla" (1977) from Spectres . The band is a pioneer in heavy metal music both for its hard-edged musical assault and its use of sci-fi and occult imagery.

  • FOGHAT BLEW ME AWAY

by RockingKoby on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

Foghat and Blue Oyster Cult shared the billing at OC's Pacific Amphitheatre on 7/25/10. Both bands rocked the house, but I have to say Foghat clearly still knows how to kick some serious *%#!...........on a 5 star scale, BOC gets a 3.5.........and Foghat gets a 5. Although Foghat's singer & guitarist are not founding members, they still sent out vibes reminiscent of the original lineup. They know what the audience wants to hear, and they deliver! Their set was short but sweet; wished they played longer. Can't believe how great they sounded. I love RnR..........no rap, hip hop for me......yuck..........I dislike alot of the current stuff they play on the radio nowadays. I saw these bands over 30 years ago at huge arenas like Anaheim Stadium and the Forum and love the fact that old school rock bands are back playing intimate small venues.

  • Foghat kicked ass!

by OCFAIRROCKER on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 3 out of 5

I've been dying to see Foghat and BOC for almost 20 years and I finally got my chance at the OC Fair. Foghat was everything I had hoped for!! They put their all into that performance!! Amazing! BOC was very disappointing I must say. Although Buck can really play a guitar, BOC chose for the self indulgent free form jams for a few of thier songs. Whereas Foghat played the songs the way they were recorded! I willl definately see Foghat again.

  • Good solid rockers.

by HyLite on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

The Ziggy Marley set two nights before reset the bar too doggone high.

  • Blue Oyster Cult/Foghat rocked!

by Rasconie on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 5 out of 5

Both bands did an excellent job of re-creating their hits. I believe that the guitar artistry has actually improved over the original! The sound mixing was good except for the lead guitar parts during "Don't Fear the Reaper." Could have been louder.

  • Foghat rocked!!

by GinnyGin on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

I wish Foghat had played the entire time. I think they totally outplayed Blue Oyster Cult. Don't get me wrong, The Cult was good, but I liked Foghat much better. And so did my 22 year old son!!.

  • Foghat / BOC Event

by JULNMIK on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 3 out of 5

Good concert...at times seemed to drag on a bit but the music was good...it was great to hear the tunes live that I've only been able to hear on the radio. Also, it was great to see Rudy Sarzo perform once again...I've seen him with Quiet Riot and Ozzie before and he is an awesome Bass player.

  • More Foghat!!

by luvthemuzik on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 3 out of 5

Foghat rocked the house!! 5 stars!! Awesome!! But who decided to give BOC first billing?? 5 stars for Foghat, 1 star for BOC.

  • BOC/FOGHAT GOOD BUT TO SHORT & NO ENCORE

by OCROCKMAN on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

The old 70's rock band Foghat rocked the house Sunday at PACAMP. They played all their big hits and one more that was great. Even with only one original member (The Bass Player) they had great energy and excellent slide guitar playing from Bryan Basset and the drumming was world class. The opening act had the audience on their feet by the end of the show winning over the crowd with good rock. Blue Oyster cult was also good showing why Buck Dharma is still one of the great rock guitar player's around. They played a short set for a headliner (About 50 minutes) and left the stage for good at 10:00 sharp. They didn't have an encore and didn't play cities on flame with rock and roll which I had been waiting for all night. They wasted some of their precious time with a drum & bass solo. Play the hits boys

  • BOC-SINGLE SET

by rocklvr on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 2 out of 5

BAND SOUNDED GOOD BUT ONLY PLAYED FOR 1 HOUR. TOOK LONGER TO DRIVE TO VENUE AND GET IN THEN BAND PLAYED. FOGHAT OPENED AND NO ORIGINAL MEMBERS WERE THERE SO IT WAS AT TRIBUTE BAND. YOU REALLY CAN NEVER GO BACK. ENJOY THE MEMORIES YOU HAVE FROM THE OLD DAYS AND JUST GO WITH THOSE. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME FOR 1 HOUR.

the vocals were not loud enough to match the music.

  • Blast from the Past still have it!

by Curley5 on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

I loved Foghat, they were awesome and it's amazing how many great songs they have. BOC was just as good, the instrumentals sounded great. 2 bands from the past that still have the stuff to keep the crowd entertained.

  • pacific Amphitheatre 10PM time cut off for noise

by funallyearround on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 3 out of 5

Pacific Amphitheatre makes every band that plays there stop at 10pm. Roger Earl ( Drummer )the only true member of foghat was ILL ,this means that it was truely a tribute band Disappointed. Blue Oyster Cult was good but they only played for an hour. It was fun to see both!

  • Show too short

by GoCrager on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 4 out of 5

BoC was great but way too short a set (45 min.) BoC never returned for an encore. Pacific's curfew may have been the reason, 10 pm was too early

  • Short and Sweet

by Kirby21 on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 3 out of 5

Foghat really rocked and left us wanting more, but we knew that Blus Oyster Cult was next, so, not to worry....20 minutes plus transition made me worry about the BOC performance, other performers had gone beyond10:00 before though. BOC rocked, but they spent way too much time introducing each other, and then they left, with no encore! Wow, they really did think we only wanted 30 minutes of their music. Foghat - way YES, BOC - way too selfish.

  • Pacific Ampitheater sucks

by OthrOne on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 2 out of 5

Foghat played for 35 minutes - B.O.C. played for 45 minutes. If I had not purchased the tickets on sale for $8.00 I would have been furious.

  • by gotham on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 2 out of 5

Sound was good and both band played well. But BOC only played 6 songs. Very disappointed. Lackluster performance.

  • To Short

by Ojib on 7/26/10The Pacific Amphitheatre - Costa MesaRating: 3 out of 5

The only remaining member of the original Foghat is Roger Earl, well he was not even there. It was more like a cover band then the band itself. The music was good but their performance was to short.Blue Oyster Cult only played 6 songs a couple of them were good 7-10 min jams but their show was short.I blame OC Fair for this with their curfew regulation they have for the Pac Amp.10PM is the cut off time for concerts that SUCKS ! That's to bad because this event could have been much better.

  • Blue Oyster Cult still rocking

by KellyPOD on 7/6/10Atlantic City Hilton - Atlantic CityRating: 5 out of 5

Great show. I hope they come back to Atlantic City next July 4 weekend. I would see them again!

BOC was GREAT,I have been to many concerts and this one was right up there with the best.BOC didn't stop for 1.5 hours, they had a lot of energy & played all thier best stuff, they sounded just like the old days.

  • The Amazing Blue Oyster Cult

Played a great show as always! Buck and his wife Sandy hung out with us and a few others after the show.
