About

We hold memories in our blood. It connects us. It defines us.

Jacob Boehme is a choreographer, dancer and writer from the Narangga and Kaurna nations of South Australia. When Jacob was diagnosed with HIV in 1998 he reached out to his ancestors in search of answers.

Blood on the Dance Floor explores the legacies and memories embedded in our bloodlines and each person’s need for community and connection. Examining the way in which blood defines a person, Boehme questions how our most precious life source can both unite and divide us.

Jacob Boehme’s contemporary voice pays homage to the ceremonies of his ancestors whilst dissecting the politics of Gay, Blak and Poz identities in a visceral narrative that channels time, space and character. Blood on the Dancefloor is an unapologetic physical monologue.

Blood on the dance floor was EPIC!!

by Hellzyeah407 on 9/11/13The Pageant - St Louis

The Pageant was an amazing place. I will definitely recommend it to everyone. The concert on September the 8th that had The relapse symphony, Farewell my love, Haley rose, and Blood on the dance floor was the best concert I have seen. I love The Pageant so much I hope everyone I want to see comes there evertime.

We took our kids to the show. It was exciting and they enjoyed it. The only down side is some of the wording was a little much in some spots but overall ok.

In all the year that I have been going to concerts I have never seen the artists appreciate their fans as much as BOTDF. They really connect with the kids that normally are though of to be freaks and outcasts; and the actually care and speak to them with sincerity when they see signs of the self mutilation. I was tremendously impressed with them and although I think they are a bit eccentric- I loved seeing my daughter talk to them and show so much interest as well as be so happy and excited to see artists that she felt a connection with.

The show was absolutely amazing. All the bands were great, and especially BOTDF and Jeffree Star KILLED IT. The Croc Rock was kind of a crappy venue. It wasn't terrible but the smaller bands started at 5:30 and that's when they started letting people in. They should have opened the doors earlier. There were two tiny bathrooms that the water was only working on and off, so that was definitely a negative. Water was $2.50, which wasn't bad. We stood near the back of the crowd but still had a great view and tons of fun. It was smaller than I thought, but the show was just so good. I cannot explain how amazing it was. There was a lot of crowd interaction. They came into the crowd a couple times and tried to get everyone involved. For only $20, I would definitely go again. Wherever you stood you had a pretty good view and the sound was great. For the price, it was incredible.

    Freaking wild

by LoveBOTDF on 10/22/12State Theatre - St Petersburg

Dahvie and Jay are so in sync with eachother that you can just feel the love and fun in their music. They make you feel like part of the show and are not afraid to get wild and crazy. It would be my fantasy to go to every show and just hang with these guys. They are just so open and accepting. For all those parents out there, yeah the music has lyrics that you may find unacceptable, but this band also has a very wholesome and beautiful message to send out. And guess what, your kids are listening to it anyway so suck it up and join the party! I went with my 11 year old and we had a blast.

I was so stoked for this concert! However, due to it being an all ages show, everyone and their mother was there. It was too crowded, the Masquerade had horrible parking, no regulations, and took too long to switch up bands. It took 30 minutes to switch an opener out so Jeffree Star could come out.

    The Best Show Ever!

    by Abryant1115 on 10/20/12Masquerade - Atlanta

The concert was simply amazing! The opening acts were great, very catchy music, and danced my butt off all night long. Dahvie and Jayy intteracted with us thru out the whole show by throwing blood, water, and confetti on us :) I lost my voice by the end of the night and for sure going to see them again next time there in atlanta :)
