About

We hold memories in our blood. It connects us. It defines us.

Jacob Boehme is a choreographer, dancer and writer from the Narangga and Kaurna nations of South Australia. When Jacob was diagnosed with HIV in 1998 he reached out to his ancestors in search of answers.

Blood on the Dance Floor explores the legacies and memories embedded in our bloodlines and each person’s need for community and connection. Examining the way in which blood defines a person, Boehme questions how our most precious life source can both unite and divide us.

Jacob Boehme’s contemporary voice pays homage to the ceremonies of his ancestors whilst dissecting the politics of Gay, Blak and Poz identities in a visceral narrative that channels time, space and character. Blood on the Dancefloor is an unapologetic physical monologue.

BOTDF - A Dad who took his kids

by DaOldguy on 12/21/11Masquerade - Atlanta

This was a GREAT concert, more like a total experience. The intro bands were good, and the actual BOTDF show was super - the group connected to the kids and even those of not considered kids! Yes, the lyrics might be a little rough for some, but it mirrors youthful rebelliousness. The music itself is engaging, and while you actually feel it, it was not so overpowering that it took anything away from the lyrics. The Masquerade was an excellent host and kept things under control without being intrusive. I had a blast and the best part was – so did my three teenagers!

    Botdf Was AMAZING!!

    by Scarlett2525 on 11/17/11The Basement - Columbus

Blood on the dance floor was amazing. While they were on stage they gt up close with the fans, pulled a kid on stage, threw light sabers to people, feathers, bananas and Water!! So much fun way better than any normal concert. Then Dahvie and Jayy stayed after in the cold to sign autographs for 2 hours until EVERY single fan got to talk with them and get signed. They actually have full conversations with the fans too I talked to Dahvie for about 10 minutes inside before he went out. SOOOO worth the 3 hour drive from Indiana. SGTC //

What a great show! BOTDF was awesome! Days later and we're still talking about the show. Dahvie is sooo amazing. He had alot of interaction with the fans on stage and off, which is what we loved most! We will definitely be at their next show.

    racy but decent music

by MomwhoWent on 11/7/11The Basement - Columbus

My daughter and her friends had a marvelous time. I, like many parents there, really needed a beer, but was the DD of course. They are an ok band. I only wanted to pull my ears off twice, and they have a couple tunes I can dig. Lyrics are quite foul. <shrug> The basement is a grungy but intimate venue; fans will be very close to their band, which is a large appeal. Very good bartender and staff. No trouble at all, close cheap parking, relatively nice neighborhood.

    Slackers

    by NotImpressed4u on 11/6/11The Basement - Columbus

Found BOTDF to be a waste of money, time and effort. Jayy ignored fans, treated them horrible. Replied of autograph requests with "Oh God" and walked away. Then for those who did not purchase VIP tickets, they required a $20 bottle of vodka to let you on the tour bus. WOW, seems people lost money with that one.

My Experience With Blood On The Dance Floor!!<3

by Carol719 on 6/27/11AT&T Center - San Antonio

Yesterday, June 26th I saw Blood On The Dance Floor at the Vans Warped Tour. They were Amazing. I figured with all of the non-fans they have, it wouldn't have been a big crowd. Boy was I wrong. It was a big crowd. Luckily, I made my way to the front. When they first came out, I nearly fainted. The guy behind me caught me and asked if I was okay. I was then I began jumping around and screaming and doing the normal stuff you would do at a concert! They did so great of a performance. I loved it. After the show they did a signing and stuff so I waited in an hour long line to meet them and talk and get autographs. I liked that they actually had full on conversations with there fans it wasn't jut hi, take a picture, give an autograph and next. They actually had a full conversation. It was wonderful. Dahvie gave me words of inspiration, which I was needing at the time. Jayy also had a good talk with me. I really don't understand why people talk about them so badly, especially the ones that have never even met them. They are great guys, and a great band. I hope to see them again. I have lot's of love for them. Overall, wonderful band

    unforgettable, best night ever.

by jenna4BOTDF on 11/28/10The House Cafe - Dekalb

I've been a big fan of Blood On The Dance Floor for a very long time, actually since they first put out music. I was very impressed with the show, The stage they had to play on was small, but I think that it was better. They played in a small town, and many people came. I was in the front row and Davhie grabs my shoulders and is singing to me. It was special. Jayy and Davhie both interacted with the crowd. A fan band is deff. what they are.

BOTDF- The Show must go on!

    by Mom4BOTDF on 11/10/10Masquerade - Atlanta

These guys once again proved that they are the "fans" band. Despite the fact all their equipment got stolen and they had to rush out and get more on the fly. They still performed and didn't let their fans down! They are always so courtesy when it comes to taking pics and signing autographs. They stay until every fan has what they came for.
