Blackberry Smoke on Tour
Though they've had their biggest success in the country market, the guys in Blackberry Smoke are rock 'n' rollers at heart. When they hit the concert stage, that becomes immediately apparent, but of course, so does the twangy side of their sound. Ultimately, what comes across is a roots-rocking blend that incorporates the influences of classic Southern rock, '70s/'80s heartland rockers and yes, a dash of modern country. And whether they're delivering a chugging good-time tune like "Rock and Roll Again" or a reflective ballad like "Let Me Down Easy," what comes through the loudest is the band's authenticity. These ol' boys are the real deal, playing it their own way with no nonsense and no rock-star moves. And since they do exactly what they feel, don't be surprised if that extends to covers of songs by their favorite artists such as Little Feat, The Grateful Dead or Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.
Blackberry Smoke in Concert
Blackberry Smoke has always done things their own way, rising to stardom by building an audience from the ground up, remaining resolutely independent and staying true to their roots. The band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000, with singer/guitarist Charlie Starr, guitarist Paul Jackson, and brothers Richard and Brit Turner on bass and drums, respectively, and that lineup remained intact into their breakthrough and beyond, adding keyboardist Brandon Still in 2009. They released their debut album, Bad Luck Ain't No Crime, in 2003, but it wasn't until their third album, 2012's The Whippoorwill, that Blackberry Smoke started achieving major commercial traction. Their next record, 2015's Holding All the Roses, reached No. 1 on the country charts as well as No. 29 on the pop tally, underscoring the band's pan-genre appeal. Their homegrown blend of Southern rock and country has remained authentic and untainted through it all.
Loved Wild Bills and Blackberry Smoke!! They rocked!
My review is not so much directed at the bands as the venue. I was not impressed with Wild Bills at all. The 2 opening acts were not good at all...but that is what you expect with opening acts. Our problem was with the sound system, it sounded like a 2nd grader was running the sound board. I am not a sound person by any stretch of the imagination but I know that when someone talks into a microphone you should be able to understand them. No one in our party could understand anythign that was being said much less sung. There were 3 people in our party who really like Blackberry smoke and they were very disappointed and left 4-5 songs into their set.
Great venue, very conveniante to hotels, plenty of food choices. layout was perfect. Concert was excellent! Zack Brown was excellent.
From the moment the five piece band hit the stage they commanded attention! Don't let the looks of these boys fool you, they are straight up great guys with more talent than they know what to do with! Each member adds a unique bit of themselves to the band. If you like Southern Music, Rock-n-Roll, Country, Bluegrass...good ole knock your socks off Good music, I dare you to give these guys a listen!! Blackberry Smoke, the REAL deal!
this group is good.they will hang out after the show.i will go to every show they have that i can get to.
Great show. Great place to see a concert. Blackberry Smoke was amazing even with being down a member due to illness. The bass player had to be taken to the hospital but the rest of band continued on and played the show. They did a an acoustic instead of thier normal set. The music was unbeleviable. This was on of the best shows I ever seen
Sorry that a member of the band became I'll and certainly wish him well. The band did the best they could without him. Want to see them back in full force
I saw Blackberry Smoke at the Hard Rock Hotel in Biloxi, Mississippi. Before the concert started, the announcer told us that the bass player was taken to the hospital due to illness. He said the band still wanted to play, but they would change the concert to an acoustic version. I have heard BBS 3 times live before, and they ROCK!!! I was very impressed that they decided to go on with the show . I was excited to hear Charlie Starr's voice in an acoustic setting. IT WAS AMAZING!!! He was funny and also shared many stories behind the songs he sang. It was a much more personal concert and I loved it!! This band is a must see!!! Whether they rock it, or deliver their music acoustically, THEY DELIVER!!!!
They where good I go every where I can to see them
First time seeing hearing them and seeing them. Anticipating Southern Rock...Instead, got acoustic country. Bass player sick so band played whole concert acousitc. Boring. Left before the end of show.
This band rocks!!! If you are a Lynyrd Skynyrd fan, you will LOVE this band!!! I was blown away when I saw them live. Charlie Starr's voice is amazing!! These boys know how to put on a concert!! Have seen them twice this year so far!! If you want to be a part of discovering your new favorite country rock band..... this band is for you!!!!
