Blackberry Smoke on Tour

Though they've had their biggest success in the country market, the guys in Blackberry Smoke are rock 'n' rollers at heart. When they hit the concert stage, that becomes immediately apparent, but of course, so does the twangy side of their sound. Ultimately, what comes across is a roots-rocking blend that incorporates the influences of classic Southern rock, '70s/'80s heartland rockers and yes, a dash of modern country. And whether they're delivering a chugging good-time tune like "Rock and Roll Again" or a reflective ballad like "Let Me Down Easy," what comes through the loudest is the band's authenticity. These ol' boys are the real deal, playing it their own way with no nonsense and no rock-star moves. And since they do exactly what they feel, don't be surprised if that extends to covers of songs by their favorite artists such as Little Feat, The Grateful Dead or Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Blackberry Smoke in Concert

Blackberry Smoke has always done things their own way, rising to stardom by building an audience from the ground up, remaining resolutely independent and staying true to their roots. The band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000, with singer/guitarist Charlie Starr, guitarist Paul Jackson, and brothers Richard and Brit Turner on bass and drums, respectively, and that lineup remained intact into their breakthrough and beyond, adding keyboardist Brandon Still in 2009. They released their debut album, Bad Luck Ain't No Crime, in 2003, but it wasn't until their third album, 2012's The Whippoorwill, that Blackberry Smoke started achieving major commercial traction. Their next record, 2015's Holding All the Roses, reached No. 1 on the country charts as well as No. 29 on the pop tally, underscoring the band's pan-genre appeal. Their homegrown blend of Southern rock and country has remained authentic and untainted through it all.

I have seen them six times in the last year, and every show just gets better and better. They are the new face of Southern Rock, and to top it off just a bunch of great guys.

    by Blueskies1205 on 1/31/12Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

It is so good to see a true rock band that are'nt hung up in the pretty boy flavor of the day music scene. These guys rocked from the start just like the old days when music meant something..... This was a show that gives hope and proof that true, good rock and roll and real rock and roll bands do still exist.... Excellent job Blackberry Smoke...keep it up

    Blackberry Smoke was Great

by LaLaMusic on 1/30/12Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

Three opening acts is way too much -- Blackberry Smoke didn't go on until 10:30. For us older folks, there was limited seating - got to doors an hour before opening so I could get a seat (limited available) in the balcony. I watched (60)+ reserved seats sit empty until around 10:30. That was a bit much if you ask me. Will see Blackberry Smoke again, but not with (3) opening acts. Would like to hear some new stuff from Blackberry Smoke as well -- hope they have something new coming out soon! Guess I'm just too old for that these days. It was hard to rate if I would recommend it to a friend -- I did enjoy the music VERY MUCH - I would make certain I let friends know what to expect if they decide to go a gig like this.

Blew the roof off the place...... like always!

by BBSOldFriend on 1/30/12Buckhead Theatre - Atlanta

Blackberry Smoke was awesome as always. I was glad they did an "all ages" venue because my two underage sons got to go and they loved it. Brian Collins was awesome as well. All the bands did a good job.

    Blackberry Smoked Rocked

by lakelizard on 12/6/11Revolution Live - Ft Lauderdale

As always it was a great show with Charlie and the boys of Blackberry Smoke. The opening band was good at their own brand of music, but would have been better with the local boys of Rambler opening for BBS. The venue reminded me of House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, SC and could have maybe had a little more in the way of seating, ie: maybe some more bar stools around the perimeter of the upstairs viewing area.

The opening acts were very good and got the crowd going. Blackberry Smoke put on a great show. You shoul check them out. Southern rock is alive and well. Tired of the County Pop on the radio and need hear something with a lot more kick? Check out Blackberry Smoke. 3 part harmonies, dual guitars and pounding rhythm. Ticketmaster screwed up and sold us seats that did not exist but Wild Bills staff made it right by upgrading our seats. Thanks to Wild Bill's staff.

All the bands were great. Concerts arent like they used to be though...no smoking and outrageous drink prices kept most people somewhat sedated. Enjoyed BBS more when they played in Covington a couple years ago....the venue was better.
