Blackberry Smoke on Tour

Though they've had their biggest success in the country market, the guys in Blackberry Smoke are rock 'n' rollers at heart. When they hit the concert stage, that becomes immediately apparent, but of course, so does the twangy side of their sound. Ultimately, what comes across is a roots-rocking blend that incorporates the influences of classic Southern rock, '70s/'80s heartland rockers and yes, a dash of modern country. And whether they're delivering a chugging good-time tune like "Rock and Roll Again" or a reflective ballad like "Let Me Down Easy," what comes through the loudest is the band's authenticity. These ol' boys are the real deal, playing it their own way with no nonsense and no rock-star moves. And since they do exactly what they feel, don't be surprised if that extends to covers of songs by their favorite artists such as Little Feat, The Grateful Dead or Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers.

Blackberry Smoke in Concert

Blackberry Smoke has always done things their own way, rising to stardom by building an audience from the ground up, remaining resolutely independent and staying true to their roots. The band formed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2000, with singer/guitarist Charlie Starr, guitarist Paul Jackson, and brothers Richard and Brit Turner on bass and drums, respectively, and that lineup remained intact into their breakthrough and beyond, adding keyboardist Brandon Still in 2009. They released their debut album, Bad Luck Ain't No Crime, in 2003, but it wasn't until their third album, 2012's The Whippoorwill, that Blackberry Smoke started achieving major commercial traction. Their next record, 2015's Holding All the Roses, reached No. 1 on the country charts as well as No. 29 on the pop tally, underscoring the band's pan-genre appeal. Their homegrown blend of Southern rock and country has remained authentic and untainted through it all.

Blackeberry Smoke has everything it takes to make it BIG. They put everything they've got up on the stage and it shows.......I see them every chance I get. Even make road trips just for them. They just keep getting better:)

These guys kick ass, unbelievable show, a little bit country, a little southern rock, 100% ROCKING! If you're unsure of the sound, I could probably compare them best to possible the Black Crowes.

Blackberry Smoke are definitely the "Ones to Watch"! The show was more amazing than anticipated and I will surely be a repeat attendee. I'm generally a "Hard Rock" kind of music listener but these guys caught my ears a about 6 months ago and have been waiting to see them live since, and it was worth the wait! Great Show!

  • Blackberry Smoke Rocked it.

by Pyrate01grl on 1/7/13Deluxe at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 4 out of 5

Drake White opened for Blackberry Smoke and I was so impressed. This man is amazing and I was glad I got to meet him and buy the CD he had. Love the smaller venue with the comfort and ambiance that goes with this room at the Murat. Would love to see Blackberry Smoke again when they come thru. Hopefully Drake will be with them!

  • I Feel a Good One Comin' On!

by jawbrain on 1/7/13Deluxe at Old National Centre - IndianapolisRating: 5 out of 5

Great show! I've been waiting to see these guys for awhile and Blackberry Smoke did not disappoint. Rock and roll the way it's supposed to be! Great throwback southern rock sound. For fans of Black Crowes, Skynyrd and everyone in between. Drake White was also a fantastic opener. Very glad to discover his band.

  • Blackberry Smoke Rocks Hardcore!!!!

by Whremoan on 12/25/12The Rave - MilwaukeeRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I first saw them in Milwaukee at The Rave on Sept 19,2012...Was blown away! Show was one of the best I've ever been to anywhere/anytime. They played in the small bar, but that made the show that much better. Sound was great! Setlist was basically complete, would have liked to hear "Freedom Song' though. Was also impressed with A Thousand Horses(bought 2 cd's after the show). Next saw them in Madison,WI Nov 9,2012 opening for Zac Brown Band, was able to meet them before the show, the guys,Charlie,Paul, Britt, Richard and Brent, are down to earth and real people, and the set was completely awesome. Will be at the House of Blues-Chicago Jan 13,2012 and will go to as many shows that come to this area, I can't say enough good things about this band, their music,or the guys, but I try with anyone that listen. These guys deserve to be headlining stadiums and arenas everywhere. I Feel A Good One Comin On, Testify! Restless, Like I Am, I'd Be Lying if I said there Ain't Much Left OF Me in a One Horse Town, under a Crimson Moon, but it would be a Pretty little Lie. Since I let Sleeping Dogs Lie I ain't Got The Blues Anymore, and I'm gonna Leave A Scar when I find out Who Invented The Wheel. I'll say a Prayer For The Little Man and get to the Bottom Of This before it all goes Up In Smoke. Rock on Brothers!!!

  • Blackberry Smoke Rocks!

by Livemusicrules on 12/10/12House of Blues Myrtle Beach - North Myrtle BeachRating: 5 out of 5

Rock and Roll is alive and well thanks to these guys. Not many newer bands, or any, are out there today as real and true to what they love like these guys and it comes across on stage. Awesome songs played loud and to perfection by 5 guys who clearly have been perfecting their craft over the years. I was lucky enough to discover them a couple years ago and let's hope this is only the beginning of the ride.

  • Very enjoyable, Glad I went!

by JHLH on 12/5/12The Orange Peel - AshevilleRating: 5 out of 5

Venue was pleasant, good sound and lighting. I would not hesitate to go there again. Opening act (Drake White and his band) was very entertaining. Would pay to see them again, by all means. Blackberry Smoke sounded good. No complaints of any kind. Very talented group, down to earth, make themselves available to meet and talk. They act very appreciative to the fans. One of the best bands going right now, in my opinion.

  • Blackberry Smoke was AMAZING!!!!

by OrchidBabe on 11/26/12Wild Bills - DuluthRating: 4 out of 5

The band is incredible! One hell of a show! Our only complaint is the accoustics at Wild Bills. It is almost too loud, it drowns out the singers. You could not hear a word the opening act was singing. Other than that, love the band, love the venue! BS kicks ASS!!!
