Blackbear in Concert
Blackbear's high-energy shows direct the spotlight onto his moody, emotional R&B jams. A jack of all trades in the music business, he also shows off his many talents in concert, hopping behind the keyboard stand and picking up guitars while hitting his signature high notes. Pairing simple yet effective video treatments with his gritty music, Blackbear's concerts are a feast for all the senses — and feelings.
Blackbear Background
Blackbear has been a force on the pop charts since 2012, when he co-wrote Justin Bieber's chart-topping smash "Boyfriend." In the following years he carved out a name for himself as one of pop-R&B's power players by collaborating with heavy hitters like fellow "Boyfriend" cowriter Mike Posner, hip-pop powerhouse G-Eazy and rap-rock superstars Linkin Park. The man behind Blackbear, Mat Musto, was born in Pennsylvania in 1990. He began his music career in Florida in his teens as the vocalist for the pop-punk band Polaroid, but shifted his focus in the early 2010s to the emotionally resonant R&B he's known for these days. He self-released his 2015 debut Deadroses, which included the G-Eazy team-up "90210," and followed it with another self-released album, Help. Eventually he signed to Interscope, releasing his gold-certified third album, Digital Druglord, in 2017 and Anonymous in April 2019, which featured the singles "1 Sided Love" and "High1X." Blackbear has remained extremely productive over the years, co-writing for Nick Jonas and Mike Shinoda as well as producing releases by Gnash and Tyler Carter in addition to his own touring and recording.
Previously, Blackbear has brought crowds to capacity at the likes of The Fillmore (Minneapolis), The Fillmore (Detroit) and the Coca-Cola Roxy (Atlanta).

The venue was beautiful I couldn’t have imagined having a better time
I was feeling under the weather due to the heat and crowds during the openings and almost left early but decided to stick it out for Bear. It was so worth it! His performances were so amazing, and they way he performed each song live was almost better than the original! He's such an amazing artist, I would definitely try and see him again! 💖
First, this is my second time being at Pier 17 and it’s been a delight both times. Easy security clearance and what not. Merch tables always had problems running cards here so it’s best to just bring cash. The concert itself I personally didn’t care for the opening acts. I came for blackbear I only wanted to see blackbear. When he got on he truly was amazing, however the crowd was so bad like they didn’t know who he was. I felt bad cause I know he loved playing here but If you weren’t right up at the front everyone was just kinda there as filler no hand waves no jumping nothing. Effects were amazing the camera work for the screens was spot on. Also big praise for his guitarist and drummer they were amazing as well. I would see blackbear again just hope the crowd gets more hyped up.
I have been in love with Blackbear since I was 14 now I’m 19 and this was my first time seeing him and it was easily the best night of my life and best concert I’ve ever been to I literally have not been able to stop talking to it or thinking about it and I literally miss it so much
Been a fan of bear for 4 years - I was so impressed with his setlist! He did things I wasn’t expecting him to do! That being said, he did shortened versions of a lot of the songs. I wish he would’ve played more full versions and I wish his set was a bit longer!!! Also — his fans were much younger than I thought!! I (26) and my mom (58) definitely stuck out in VIP, lol! Can’t wait till he comes to town again so I can do meet & greet!
So much energy from start to finish! The crowd was amazing also because his presence was so energetic and crazy I stan🔥🔥
We purchased VIP tickets and were told to be there BEFORE 6:30. Arrived at 6:15 and waited in line until about 7:15. Got inside and received our “VIP” bag which had a lanyard, beanie and a tour poster. Didn’t think for the price we paid for the tickets that was worth it. Got inside and ordered a drink and wasn’t allowed to bring the drink to the floor with us. Got a pretty good view but stood there for two hours before blackbear even came on. There were 3 openers. Can’t remember the name of the first one but Gashi was super arrogant and rude. Then Elohim came on for a lot longer than she should have. Her music literally made me and my friend sick from all of the lights and the screaming. For already standing there for 2 hours, many people kept passing out. We unfortunately had to leave where we were standing but still had a side view. Felt like the concert was cut short because of the openers. Would have liked to have blackbear play more songs and hear less of his openers.
Blackbear is my favorite artist. I have very bad social anxiety and do not go to concerts often if ever. The blackbear concert was by far the most AMAZING performance I have ever seen. Besides the arrogance of Gashi it was the most spiritual thing I've ever had. Eloheim was far better then I could of ever imagined. Between both Eloheim and Blackbear, the anxiety was absolutely worth every moment and I am so happy I was able to experience it once in my life
The show was just amazing, I loved every single moment of it. Best show ever, I would totally recommend to got to a blackbear concert if he’s in your city.
Saw Gashi, Elohim, and Blackbear. Gashi was pretty good. Elohim really blew me away! So amazing. Blackbear was really good! He played so much of his music, and the whole concert was really hype!
The Blackbear concert was so good. He is a great performer. Venue was nice and clean.
The venue wasn’t really great for this kind of performance, but Beat did amazingly and still managed to hype everyone up even with limited space.
I took my 3 teenage kids to see him. I, as a parent really enjoyed him. I would go see him again.
I loved every minute of it. I wish he’d come back to Georgia, because I’d buy that vip so fast. His voice is just as good in person as he is online.
This was my first Blackbear concert and he is an amazing performer. Period. His energy, his talent and the range of emotions in his songs made the experience one of my favorite concerts I've ever attended.
I’ve been waiting to see Blackbear for about a year now! I was so thankful to get tickets to finally see him in concert. I love him and his music so very much! He was there for all the times I’ve been sad. I thank him and can’t wait to see him again!!!!
I had the best experience at this concert. Blackbear is an incredible performer, and his openers were fantastic, as well. The length of the concert was longer than expected and everything about it exceeded all of my expectations. I wish the venue had some outdoor fans or cooling equipment, but I’m a Florida girl and am used to handling the heat. Overall, amazing!
I never been to a true concert before Friday night and let me tell you I had a blast!! Even though I almost passed out 2 times there was nothing I would change. His voice and the way people connected through it was unbelievable. I will always remember that night.
Blackbear is personally my favorite artist and I have loved him for about 5 years now. I saw him for the first time in 2017 in Tampa at a really small venue, and I personally liked that concert a lot more than his one on 2019 at Jannus Live. I wish we would’ve sang more of his music from his older albums and I wish he would’ve sang NYLA in a more intimate way with the piano, and I also felt like there were a lot of long awkward pauses between songs. I felt like it was a lot of waiting for a very mediocre show that was barely an hour, and I was kinda disappointed for seeing my favorite artist for a second time. I love the venue and will definitely be going back to concerts there in the future
The event was suppose to start at 7:30-8 but no one came to the stage until 9:45. Blackbear was supposed to show up after the opening person but instead he made fans wait and hour and came out until 11. It was really hot outside. I wish they would have prepared for this weather and added fans.
