Blackbear in Concert

Blackbear's high-energy shows direct the spotlight onto his moody, emotional R&B jams. A jack of all trades in the music business, he also shows off his many talents in concert, hopping behind the keyboard stand and picking up guitars while hitting his signature high notes. Pairing simple yet effective video treatments with his gritty music, Blackbear's concerts are a feast for all the senses — and feelings.

Blackbear Background

Blackbear has been a force on the pop charts since 2012, when he co-wrote Justin Bieber's chart-topping smash "Boyfriend." In the following years he carved out a name for himself as one of pop-R&B's power players by collaborating with heavy hitters like fellow "Boyfriend" cowriter Mike Posner, hip-pop powerhouse G-Eazy and rap-rock superstars Linkin Park. The man behind Blackbear, Mat Musto, was born in Pennsylvania in 1990. He began his music career in Florida in his teens as the vocalist for the pop-punk band Polaroid, but shifted his focus in the early 2010s to the emotionally resonant R&B he's known for these days. He self-released his 2015 debut Deadroses, which included the G-Eazy team-up "90210," and followed it with another self-released album, Help. Eventually he signed to Interscope, releasing his gold-certified third album, Digital Druglord, in 2017 and Anonymous in April 2019, which featured the singles "1 Sided Love" and "High1X." Blackbear has remained extremely productive over the years, co-writing for Nick Jonas and Mike Shinoda as well as producing releases by Gnash and Tyler Carter in addition to his own touring and recording.

Previously, Blackbear has brought crowds to capacity at the likes of The Fillmore (Minneapolis), The Fillmore (Detroit) and the Coca-Cola Roxy (Atlanta).

    My favorite concert!

    by Anoooon1 on 3/27/18Bozarts - Cincinnati

He is an amazing performer and knows how to get the crowd excited. Mostly teens and people in their 20's there.

    Blackbear was a big disappointment

Show started an hour late. Blackbear performed a few songs the rest of the time was the opening act and a DJ.

    Waste of Time and Money

by NonaEagle on 7/2/17Chameleon Club - Lancaster

This concert was easily the worst concert I've ever been to. The concert was supposed to start at 7:00 PM and it didn't start until 7:40 PM. The first act was horribly autotuned and was literally on stage for 10 minutes. He seemed like more of a filler than an actual act. Then a DJ came on for like an hour before Blackbear actually came on. Blackbear was pretty good but he was sort of autotuned. Then we waited outside after the concert by his tourbus with 20 other people for 3 hours. When he was escorted out, he didn't look at his fans or say hello. He didn't acknowledge we were there at all. Then we waited outside some more to see if he would come out later (keep in mind, by the time this happened, there were literally only 6 of us outside). His manager came out and we asked him if Blackbear was going to come out and say hi (as it was 12:30 AM and we wanted to know so we could leave or stay). His manager went in and asked him and it was about 10 minutes until he came out to say that if we didn't leave he was going to call the cops (also keep in mind, we were never asked to leave in the first place so they had no reason to call, we were't trespassing). He was rude and I couldn't believe the way he treated his fans that way. He's a jerk and I would never go to one of his concerts ever again.

This was an amazing show! Bear was perfect! Great venue, the pew seats (VIP) were well worth it! I had an amazing view right above the stage! I wish I could relive this night for the rest of my life!

    best concert i've been to.

by Joeysmileshappily on 6/23/17Filmore - Charlotte

The crowd was amazing, the performers were great at hyping the crowd up & set the mood before Bear came on stage. He did soooo many songs and had a great interaction with the crowd, he would willingly hug fans or even give out autographs. Best concert ive been to by faaaar.

    Meh

by TuckFrump on 6/11/17The Fillmore - Detroit

The acoustics were terrible for the music being played. There were too many opening acts. The DJ who played right before Blackbear played 2 Blackbear songs. If I wanted to listen to his music on the radio, I would have stayed home. Blackbear started out just ok, but then Mike Posner saved the show. When he came on, he did "Ibiza" and they did 2 Mansionz songs and that was awesome. My wife and I were actually thinking about leaving until he came on. We ended up staying after that and Blackbear finished relatively strong. I am not sure if I will try to see Blackbear in concert again, unless he is with Mike Posner.

Blackbear - Worst concert I've ever been to

by Edrozy on 5/31/17Neptune Theatre - Seattle

This concert was not a very fun experience. 4 opening acts is too many, and after the second one, people were getting irritated and upset at the long wait to see Blackbear. After the final opening act, the DJ was just playing random songs for about 30 mins, and after a while it seemed like he was stalling. The concert started at 8, but Blackbear didn't come on until just after 10! All this waiting (including the 2.5 hours I waited in line to see Blackbear) was not worth the wait. His singing was great, but the performance was very bland. There was no confetti, cool lighting effects, or anything like that. I was very disappointed. I like listening to Blackbear, but next time he comes to town, I won't be attending.

by Lucas10 on 5/20/17House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

Special Guest didn't show up. We weren't told that Elhae wasn't going to perform. I spent money traveling to Dallas to include hotel and he didn't show up.

Blackbear has a surpringly beautiful singing voice

by Jojo0418 on 5/18/17House of Blues Dallas - Dallas

The actual blackbear show was great, he's a very good performer. Only thing I hated was his two opening acts, they were awful. Super awful. You can't call yourself a singer then use 100% auto tune. Get a different job. They made me so weary that Blackbear would use only auto tune too. He didn't though, and he had a surprisingly beautiful singing voice. Definitely didn't expect some of the notes he hit.
