Blackbear in Concert

Blackbear's high-energy shows direct the spotlight onto his moody, emotional R&B jams. A jack of all trades in the music business, he also shows off his many talents in concert, hopping behind the keyboard stand and picking up guitars while hitting his signature high notes. Pairing simple yet effective video treatments with his gritty music, Blackbear's concerts are a feast for all the senses — and feelings.

Blackbear Background

Blackbear has been a force on the pop charts since 2012, when he co-wrote Justin Bieber's chart-topping smash "Boyfriend." In the following years he carved out a name for himself as one of pop-R&B's power players by collaborating with heavy hitters like fellow "Boyfriend" cowriter Mike Posner, hip-pop powerhouse G-Eazy and rap-rock superstars Linkin Park. The man behind Blackbear, Mat Musto, was born in Pennsylvania in 1990. He began his music career in Florida in his teens as the vocalist for the pop-punk band Polaroid, but shifted his focus in the early 2010s to the emotionally resonant R&B he's known for these days. He self-released his 2015 debut Deadroses, which included the G-Eazy team-up "90210," and followed it with another self-released album, Help. Eventually he signed to Interscope, releasing his gold-certified third album, Digital Druglord, in 2017 and Anonymous in April 2019, which featured the singles "1 Sided Love" and "High1X." Blackbear has remained extremely productive over the years, co-writing for Nick Jonas and Mike Shinoda as well as producing releases by Gnash and Tyler Carter in addition to his own touring and recording.

Previously, Blackbear has brought crowds to capacity at the likes of The Fillmore (Minneapolis), The Fillmore (Detroit) and the Coca-Cola Roxy (Atlanta).

Super short performance and he disappeared halfway through

by Sarah on 10/2/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

It was an extremely short performance and he disappeared off stage during a song half way through his set. He reappeared in a completely different outfit but overall not a show I would pay to see again. There was a screen with static behind him and that was the extent of the show.

by Vi on 10/2/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

This was an absolutely amazing experience. Blackbear is such a good performer. I was at the barricade and towards the end of the show he let some girls come on stage and I was one of them!!! I will never have an experience like this again it was perfect.

Loved the concert, not the venue

    by T on 10/2/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

The concert itself was fabulous. But Paramount should open the doors earlier so the line isn’t down the street over the freeway in the dark, and to let people in to buy merch so that line isn’t up three flights of stairs and down again.

    GREAT

by Sarah on 10/2/22Paramount Theatre - Seattle

Nice, personal and small venue. He was very interactive with the crowd and actually ended up bringing 4 people on stage. 1 person because she had a sign that it was her birthday and then 3 more during another song. Also took photos with each of them on stage. Towards the end of the concert he took out his phone and started recording the audience and then during the encore brought out an actual camera and started recording everyone. Only complaint is he sounds slightly different in person. That might be due to the fact we were the last performance on the tour and he was clearly losing his voice, but he kept going.

    He was Amazing

    by Avariiice on 10/1/22

It is unreal seeming him live! It’s super refreshing that he doesn’t rely heavily having the tracks doing the singing for him. His energy was amazing and infectious and it truly feels like you’re experiencing someone who is living out their dream. He brought multiple fans up onto the stage to sing and dance with him and he had two sign language translators there for all his sets. And after the concert was over, he came back out to do another song. Also it was really sweet that he took a brief intermission and let the band really show off their talent and shine on their musical abilities. I think everyone needs to see him live 😭💚

    Really enjoyable

    by M. C. on 9/30/22YouTube Theater - Inglewood

All of the performances were great, but the concert as a whole seemed pretty short. But, he did perform all of the bangers.

    Blackbear YouTube Theatre

by Olivia on 9/30/22YouTube Theater - Inglewood

First off I love Blackbear and this was my first time seeing him! Also my first time at the YouTube theatre and it was AMAZING! Ticket prices were super affordable, pit wasn't too full, bathrooms/concessions were really close, and parking was so convenient.

Be ready to open your wallet

by Evergreen on 9/29/22YouTube Theater - Inglewood

The new YouTube theater is under the edge of the SoFi stadium. Plenty of parking, ($40) but they don’t open the lots until a few hours before the show, so no early waiting. Nothing around the venue, since it is acres of pavement. Food trucks roll in a few hours before the show, but be ready to pay $20 for mediocre tacos. The theater is nice and large, fun tech and lights but no real character. The entire thing is just white.

wish the venue had been better about honoring the number system/getting fans in the venue quickly, but the inside atmosphere was great and the food trucks were a fun touch

    Incredible!

    by T. H. on 9/28/22

I’ve been obsessed with blackbear since 2014 and, if you like his music, I can’t encourage you enough to see him! Awesome stage performance, great music, great crowd, great openers! I saw the EMN tour, and he had a great variety of songs in all albums, which I was really hoping for! 10/10 show, can’t wait to go to another!

BEST PERFORMANCE. BEST ARTIST HANDS DOWN.

by Marie on 9/28/22Old National Centre - Indianapolis

Blackbear gave 110% for one of his best shows I’ve seen him perform. It was a very intimate and memorable experience due to the smaller arena and being able to get front row due to fast passes!! Everything ran smoothly as far as getting in- but the arena had a lot of trouble with navigating early arrival fans and people were not sure if they were in the correct line because they had another show hosted that night. Most issues were due to arena, but livenation procedures ran smoothly.

    Best concert ever

by Shelby on 9/23/22The Andrew J Brady Music Center - Cincinnati

The venue was perfect. Being up in the balcony was the best decision! There was about 7 people in my whole balcony row so less chances of catching COVID. I enjoyed being above the stage and being able to see everything happening. Blackbear sounded AMAZING! I would totally see him again at this same venue.
