Black Violin on Tour
The wait is over. Grammy-nominated hip-hop duo Black Violin have announced more than 55 dates for their 2022 tour. Off the heels of their successful 2019 album Take the Stairs, which was nominated for a Grammy for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album, the classically trained duo are eager to showcase their original style on the big stage. Audience members fawn over the raw talent displayed by the hip-hop group for their amazing performances that infuse classical arrangements from the violin and viola with modern 808's, high-hats and other genre-bending elements. "The concert had the audience clapping, waving, light shining, dancing and smiling," one audience member wrote in a review of their concert on Ticketmaster. Experience a diverse performance that features both original compositions from the group like the hit single "Stereotypes" from the album of the same name.
Black Violin Live in Concert
High school friends Kevin Sylvester (Kev Marcus) and Wilner Baptiste (Wil B) met in a Fort Lauderdale performing arts program as teens. While Sylvester plays the violin, Baptiste plays the viola and together they create a distinct sound that rocked the hip-hop community. Despite attending different colleges, the two gravitated back toward one another and decided to try their hand at music full-time. Their first taste of stardom came when they performed alongside Grammy winner Alicia Keys at the 2004 Billboard Music Awards. The duo used this momentum to provide musical support on tour for artists such as Wu-Tang Clan and Kanye West. Baptiste also has musical credits on studio albums for hip-hop sensations Lupe Fiasco, B.o.B and Lil Wayne. In 2007, the duo released their self-titled debut album, and the follow-up, Classically Trained, a few years later. Their 2019 album Take the Stairs was nominated for a Grammy, the duo's first recognition. Most recently, Black Violin released their own spin on a Christmas album titled Give Thanks. In 2019, Sylvester, Baptiste and Phil Beaudreau founded their own label titled Di Versatile Music Group to promote the release of Take the Stairs, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard's Classical and Classical Crossover charts, and cracked the Top 10 on the Top New Artists chart and Hip Hop and R&B Chart.
Amazing show, amazing group, relaxing venue...couldn't have gotten much better
These are some very talented men. I enjoyed every single song and hated to see the show end!
The entire band was inspiring and talented. The fusion of classical violin with hip hop/r&b was done brilliantly. Hat's off to these young men!!! I see why they were on Broadway. Don't sleep Cleveland!! When they come back you MUST be there. The show was UNFORGETTABLE!!!!
The concert was fantastic, would see it again. My kids ages 13 and 14, both loved it as well.
I loved the show! Never knew about Black Violin until now. The Cain Park theatre is beautiful and the weather was perfect.
This group is awesome! Great music, great message. Don't miss them!
This show was amazing! Way better than I ever expected! What an amazing, inspirational, and moving performance! Young black men and women making a difference for today's youth! I am so thrilled I was able to bring my children to this show and prove to them that hard work and dedication can allow you to make the most of life while helping others.
Awesome show! The musicians were very inspirational and great role models for the next generation of musicians! Definitely a must see

These young men were fabulous. I can't wait for them to come back into the area. I have posted them on my facebook and told all of my FB Family all over the world to go see them if they come anywhere near them.
Awesome....is an underrated word to describe this concert. From YOSA to the BV...delicious. Great seats, great sound and great performance. Hope to see more of them!
Black violin completly turns classical music on its ear. The entire audience was standing and dancing. One of of three best concerts I have seen inn my 55 years. I am not a big hip hop fan but I loved back violin. Thanks
These guys were amazing! I hope they come back soon.
Great performance by the artists. The venue was very appropriate and the smaller more intimate venue definitely enhanced the sound quality and overall performance. The artists remained after to sign cds and took photos with those that wanted them. Will definitely make it a point to support them at any other of their performances and/or events.
Great show! I brought my two son"s and they were mesmerized by Black Violins talent and DJTK.
