Founded among the steel mills of Birmingham, England in 1968, guitarist Tony Iommi, bassist Geezer Butler, singer Ozzy Osbourne, and drummer Bill Ward formed what would arguably become the greatest heavy metal band of all time. Initially a heavy blues rock band named Earth, the band took occult and horror themes and combined them with heavily distorted down-tuned guitars and invented a genre that is as vibrant today as ever. Black Sabbath also composed songs dealing with social instability, political corruption, substance abuse and war. Releases such as Black Sabbath (1970), Paranoid (1970) and Master of Reality (1971) are looked upon as vanguards, records which influenced artists as varied as Iron Maiden, Metallica and Soundgarden.
Black Sabbath was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. Ranked by MTV as the "Greatest Metal Band" of all time, they have sold over 70 million records and countless concert tickets worldwide.
Black Sabbath has had its share of tumult throughout the years -- Tony Iommi has been the only constant in the band. Singer Ozzy Osbourne's substance abuse issues led to his departure in 1979. He was ably replaced by Rainbow’s Ronnie James Dio. But after several successful albums and concert tours with Dio at the helm, Sabbath entered a period of constant change throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s. Ian Gillan, Glenn Hughes, Ray Gillen and Tony Martin all took turn as front men until Osbourne reunited with his band mates in 1997. Since then, Black Sabbath has reformed to play concert tours and record on several occasions, lastly upon the 2013 release of the band’s 19th studio album, 13, which featured all original members sans Bill Ward.
Played all my favorite songs. These guys still rock after all these years Best show yet!!
They could've chosen better songs for their last tour. It was a little boring. It was very short also, not enough songs. I thought it was going to be as good as the last show Motley Crüe played - that was a final show. I don't recommend anybody to spend too much money on this show. Buy the cheap tickets - it's over-priced.
It was good to hear the classic metal stuff again, even if Ozzy's voice is fading.
Was awesome to hear some great classic rock n roll and see some great musicians.
great show, would have been better if longer than 90 minutes
Black Sabbath was good. The sound could have been better, but the ATT Center is a sports arena and not a theater, so the sound is kind of muffled. The opening band was good also.
Good concert. Seemed to me that the sound person had a little trouble with volume on Tony and Geezer's guitars. Noticed several times the volume going way up and then coming down. Ozzy's voice cracked several times during the first few songs. I watched closely to see if he was really singing. From my observations, he was really singing. Ozzy tried his best to get the fans to participate, but a lot of people had their smart phones out recording the concert. Can't wave yours hands over your head and record at the same time! Concert seemed rather short. Thought they would play a little longer, since it is the last concert for North America. Only came out for one encore. And that was because Ozzy yelled out "One more song" for everybody to say. Saddest part of the whole concert: They did not play Changes.
Black Sabbath reached The End of its U.S. tour in San Antonio. It was an excellent, if somewhat low-key, way to say goodbye to the States. Ozzy was in reasonably fine voice and the band was unsurpassed- particularly the fiery lead guitar playing of Tony Iommi. Not too many speeches or useless sentimentality; Ozzy said at one point "I can never forget San Antonio." And we'll never forget Black Sabbath.
The staff was amazing very helpful and accommodating.
The band was awesome - sounded great!!! Ozzy had more stamina than Vince Neil did on the Motley Crue tour last year!
I was relieved to hear Ozzy sounding like he did 30 years ago!!! It was fantastic. I saw them in 2013 and Ozzy sounded really bad.. off key, voice cracking, etc.. The band made up for it, but Ozzy was bad. This time they all sounded fantastic and I'm glad I got to see them one more time!! And Rival Sons.... absolutely awesome!!! Sometimes you hear a band's studio album and think there is no way they can pull that off live.. well, they did. The singer's voice is simply amazing.. dead on!!! Perfect!!! Overall great, great, concert. I loved it!!!
It was great but really short I thought... It ended at 10:30 i thought maybe 11 or 11:15 it would end and was hoping for some ozzy solo songs, but overall it was good.
Great show with no bad seats in the AT&T center. I was so close to the stage I couldn't believe it. Waited months for this show and they rocked for some 2.5 hours. God I hope they recorded that one so we can buy it on cd or something, anything!
The sound quality accentuated the talents of the individual players without the earsplitting distortion usually found.
Very awesome experience! Won't be another chance to see this group together again. The only trouble was with the speakers/mics cutting out.
Loved the show, the venue was great - good Security Staff presence kept us in line. Sound quality has improved a lot in BOK - keep up the good work. Light show was equally good and the large video screen gave good close-up shots. I think that it froze quite a few times but came back OK.
I've been to the BOK Center in Tulsa countless times for concerts foment The Eagles in Metallica in 08' to Aerosmith, McCartney and Iron Maiden this year. This arena has a awesome atmosphere, but Ozzy, Geezer, Tony killed it. This show was groovy and heavy for 2 hours straight. Rival Sons definitely set the tone for the night. You could dance, jive, bang your head and throw up your horns to Black Sabbath's powerful songs. I can only imagine this is just a taste of what the band could do in their prime. The entire show left me with butterflies, it was the best way to enjoy my birthday.
All in all, it was a great show!!! The only thing that was kinda lame, were the fake flames on the screen... Other than that, they sounded amazing!!!!
Just a legendary band, awesome to get the opportunity to see them live. If you get the chance to see this is a must.
Black Sabbath was a show I will never forget! I'm so glad I got to see them! OZZY is the Man!
