About

Black Label Society are the ongoing musical creation of infamous guitarist Zakk Wylde, who was plucked from obscurity by Ozzy Osbourne in 1987 and soon became a household name among heavy metal enthusiasts. Black Label Society were formed in 1998 after Wylde split from Ozzy and company. They recently released Unblackened, a live CD/DVD featuring a batch of stripped-down versions of their songs. The CD contains six bonus tracks, including covers of "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers and "A Song For You" by Leon Russell. Concerts give ticket holders plenty of bang for their buck. The band is a world-class live act, dishing out powerful sets of blues-based rock and metal songs fueled by Wylde's unmistakable guitar work and vocals. The band's recent unplugged-style concert performances may hint to a mellower approach in the future.

By the time Wylde embarked upon and struck out on his own solo career, he was a well-established name in the rock community. This eventually allowed him to achieve stand-alone success with the formation of Black Label Society and the debut album, Sonic Brew. Eight more albums, along with subsequent tours, were to follow. Their most popular studio release was Order Of The Black, which hit shelves in August 2010 and reached No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The band has another studio album that is set for release sometime in 2014. Whether it will rediscover the band's hard rocking roots or continue in the mellower vein is a mystery. Based on the band's history, it's anyone's guess.

A bit of a technical letdown

by Herc Jason on 11/22/21Aztec Theatre - San Antonio

Really enjoy BLS, and the band seemed to be in good form. The problem was the sound engineer or mixer...All you could get was bass and drums with vocals and guitar barely perceptible and only in the highest registers. Look...Zakk Wylde is one of the best guitarists out there. When you muddy and masks his guitar licks, you remove the main reason for being there. Even during the piano parts, once the drums and bass came in, the piano was lost. You need different levels for different instrument sets.

Awesome show, BLS gets better every time I see them. Dario is almost as good as Zakk.

    Showed seemed a bit contrived

by theJman on 11/20/21The Wellmont Theater - Montclair

I've seen Black Label Society twice before, so I'm familiar with the band, but this show at the Welmont Theater (Montclair, NJ) seemed generic and somewhat artificial. Very little audience interaction, played one song after the other in quick succession, saved all their radio songs for the end of the set, no encore. It came across as though they were simply going through the motions.

    BLS/SDMF!!

by Big Evil on 11/19/21House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

The show was outstanding. Zakk and the guys killed it. Only thing I hated was my fault. I upgraded to the upper box seats, never sat there, figure I check it out. They just sucked, could only see half the stage and when Zakk Played, In this river from our angle you couldn’t see him. Upper box not worth the cash, much better in the center sections.

    great view from the balcony

by Dale on 11/18/21House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

they were great seat although cramped we had a great time ..I have a protestit leg & thankfully the couple that was sitting next to us helped me out of my seat ..I would be leery of returning there for a show for that reason .I watched several people struggle with the steep staircase ..there were no safety rails ....

by CFH on 11/18/21House of Blues Cleveland - Cleveland

First time at HOB. Great venue to see a show. Prong was ok at best. Obituary killed it. Black Label Society was awesome. Zakk Wylde is a legend. I loved his tribute to my brothers, Dimebag and Vinny. Can’t wait to see them again.

I love going to the Fillmore, it's design and structure say so much about Detroit. As for the show, it was great finally seeing Obituary and BLS at an iconic venue.

    Doom Crew Inc. Metal Concert

by Chickie on 11/17/21Irving Plaza - New York

Prong, best known for Pushead album artwork and action movie soundtracks played their set. Prong is also one of the leading Extreme Metal bands in their genre. Obituary, best known as the leading Florida Death Metal in their genre played their self titled Obituary set. Black Label Society, best known for Hard Rock shows with Booze and Glossy Women played their Doom Crew Inc. set. Zakk Wylde and Dario led this Black Label Society ensemble with melodic guitar riffs and guitar solos throughout the night. Zakk Wylde also played piano on two Black Label Society ensemble songs in tribute to fellow musicians Darrell Abbott and Vinnie Paul Abbott.

    Fun show Cool Venue

by Debbie Jo on 11/17/21The Fillmore Detroit - Detroit

A bands did not disappoint! And this old venue is so cool! The one thing I will say is that the seats are very small so you might want to try to get an end row seat so you don't have to have everybody stand up if you run to the bathroom or to get a drink I am also glad we got it so we did not have anybody sitting right behind us but very cool venue and most of the security and staff was very nice they will rush you right through the merch table but try to take your time because you are spending a lot of money and make sure you get what you want don't let them talk you into a smaller size because they're out of another size. Also keep in mind on your way out don't try to grab a water or a Red Bull for the drive home you cannot take any drink out even if it's not an alcoholic we almost made this mistake and I'm glad I asked first they did not mention it when we went to buy it. It was really late and hardly anything is open anymore as you know late especially on a Sunday night. Also there's a Little Caesars on the corner right next to this that is so cool keep that in mind for your pre show me and also Eminem's mom's spaghetti is next to that and they have $10 parking about three blocks down next to the Firehouse another thing to keep in mind I don't know if it's always like that but it's a lot set up for shows I believe another thing to keep in mind and that is my review.

    BLS

by Paul on 11/14/21The Wellmont Theater - Montclair

As usual Zakk and BLS kicked major ASS. Only disappointment was no solo into the crowd. Probably because of Covid rules.
