Billy Gibbons in Concert
From his awesome beard to his massive riffs and gravelly voice, Gibbons has been carving out his own place in music history for the past 50 years. Born in 1949 in Houston, Texas, to a father who was a concert pianist and orchestra conductor, Gibbons rebelled by picking up the electric guitar at age 13. As a teen he played in a number of bands, striking gold as his group The Moving Sidewalks penned the Doors-esque "99th Floor," which became a hit in Houston. Oh, and they opened for Jimi Hendrix during his first American headlining tour. Those experiences would give Gibbons the fire he needed going forward, as he would form ZZ Top in 1969. With the rough-riding, groundbreaking group, he found incredible mainstream success throughout their numerous platinum-selling releases (‘Degüelo,' ‘Eliminator,' ‘Afterburner'), chart-scorching singles ("La Grange," "Gimme All Your Lovin," "Sleeping Bag"), and numerous awards and distinctions, including an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
Gibbons' solo career took off late in life, with his first solo LP dropping in 2015. ‘Perfectamundo' delivered everything one could desire from a Gibbons solo album: Afro-Cuban rhythms, grungy blues licks, and a Tom Waits-flavored general dirtiness. Its follow-up, the energetic ‘Big Bad Blues,' was released three years later, in 2018.
As a collaborator, Gibbons has lent guitar bliss to countless big-time musicians and their songs, including Queens of the Stone Age's "Burn the Witch," B.B. King's "Tired of Your Jive" (from ‘B.B. King and Friends'), Nickelback's "Rockstar," Hank Williams III's "Trashville.' In addition, he's performed in a ton of blockbuster supersessions, like when he joined Lou Reed and Jim Jarmusch to play with The Raconteurs at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, or when he played Skynyrd's "Free Bird" on ‘The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien' alongside Ben Harper, Beck, Will Ferrell, and Conan himself.

Jungle Show at Antone’s. What a great show it was. Standing room only. Packed. Before going, spouse said she might leave early. She didn’t!
My 3rd live Jungle Show. It was great to have Jimmy back this year. This group, of incredible musicians, gets tighter each year. That is not surprising considering their backgrounds. If you get the chance, don't miss this fun, tight music dynamo!
The show was too good...I hope to go all 3 nights next year!
We would definitely recommend this show to anyone who hasn't seen it!!!
Great show, but 1 hr 45 min is too short especially considering the $75 admission.
My First Jungle Experience…I have seen each performer individually and seeing them All together was a Wild Experience for sure!! I’ll be Back!!!!
The band and venue were awesome. We were trapped behind a 6' plus lady that thought she owned the imaginary 3 feet circle around her. Totally annoying..she repeatedly placed her used drinks on the Vaughn family VIP table, even after being NOT to do that by security. She was just a constant distraction. We spent the last 30 minutes at the back of the venue to get the hell away from her. The band was just unreal to see and hear. A stage full of legends.. Also a bonus to see a famous artist (an old friend of ours) and some of the Vaughn family pre show at Eddie V's nest door.
Excellent venue, excellent show, perfect PA/sound guy and sweet Sue Foley ripped it up. The entire band was tops…
It was a shame that Jimmie Vaughan did not make it but Billy and Sue Foley were spot on. I love Antone's for live music events. Best place in Austin. Can't wait for next year's show.
Also features Sue Foley Jimmie Vaughan Mike Flanigin Chris Layton Rock, blues, Zz Top And so much more...
Incredible!!! Music! But the audience could not bring themselves to even sway or tsp their feet
This show was amazing, up close and personal. They accommodated us right away when we asked for ADA seating since you couldn't choose it on the site when we purchased our tickets. Very small but quaint venue. It was packed wall to wall for this show. But Billy can sell out any venue. Wait staff was amazing and served with a smile. Highly recommended
Without Jimmy there, you’re not running on all cylinders. You got us there…but not in the usual style.
The drive from Houston wasn't too bad the jungle show was really cool
It was a great night of Blues music headlined by Billy Gibbons and included Sue Foley's excellent guitar playing. Sell out crowd. Stayed overnight in Austin and enjoyed a fun evening and a great next day there
Great holiday tradition. Billy's supporting mates are top notch. I actulally went 3 yesrs ago to see Chris Layton and first heard Sue Foley. Saw Sue solo in a club at what I consider to be my best show ever. Jungle does not disappoint.
I wish his equipment was in better working condition. His voice was weak, wish Jimmy Vaughn hadn't been sick. Of it was a fun night.
I got VIP tickets but spent most of my time down stairs on the main floor. I’m so old that as a teenager I saw ZZ Top it was fun to hear the music again
We had all 3 jungle shows in Antone’s, great experience
What a great show, Billy was spot on and his band was too. I liked "Blue jeans" and " Whole lotta love" the best. Great venue and great show!
