Billy Gibbons in Concert
From his awesome beard to his massive riffs and gravelly voice, Gibbons has been carving out his own place in music history for the past 50 years. Born in 1949 in Houston, Texas, to a father who was a concert pianist and orchestra conductor, Gibbons rebelled by picking up the electric guitar at age 13. As a teen he played in a number of bands, striking gold as his group The Moving Sidewalks penned the Doors-esque "99th Floor," which became a hit in Houston. Oh, and they opened for Jimi Hendrix during his first American headlining tour. Those experiences would give Gibbons the fire he needed going forward, as he would form ZZ Top in 1969. With the rough-riding, groundbreaking group, he found incredible mainstream success throughout their numerous platinum-selling releases (‘Degüelo,' ‘Eliminator,' ‘Afterburner'), chart-scorching singles ("La Grange," "Gimme All Your Lovin," "Sleeping Bag"), and numerous awards and distinctions, including an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.
Gibbons' solo career took off late in life, with his first solo LP dropping in 2015. ‘Perfectamundo' delivered everything one could desire from a Gibbons solo album: Afro-Cuban rhythms, grungy blues licks, and a Tom Waits-flavored general dirtiness. Its follow-up, the energetic ‘Big Bad Blues,' was released three years later, in 2018.
As a collaborator, Gibbons has lent guitar bliss to countless big-time musicians and their songs, including Queens of the Stone Age's "Burn the Witch," B.B. King's "Tired of Your Jive" (from ‘B.B. King and Friends'), Nickelback's "Rockstar," Hank Williams III's "Trashville.' In addition, he's performed in a ton of blockbuster supersessions, like when he joined Lou Reed and Jim Jarmusch to play with The Raconteurs at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, or when he played Skynyrd's "Free Bird" on ‘The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien' alongside Ben Harper, Beck, Will Ferrell, and Conan himself.

One of the best shows I’ve seen ! All outstanding musicians
It was amazing nite Billy Gibbons never disappoints perfect seats love the house of blues he played all my favorite songs
The main-floor seating are folding chairs. They get uncomfortable. Got the VIP experience, which was standing in the lobby for an hour. They do not let you into you seats until they let everyone else in. Won't do it again. Billy was good, not the HOB
Billy Gibbons is the king of cool. His band was great also
We both thought Billy Gibbons and the two guys playing with him were outstanding. Our seats were very nice and only $58 apiece not a bad seat in the house at the pageant in St. Louis Billy Gibbons, a storyteller and then a great guitar player one of the best I’ve ever seen
I really enjoy seeing shows at The Pageant. And to see a legend like Billy Gibbons, wow. Amazing. This was my second time seeing him at The Pageant and Billy definitely delivered a great show and set. I like the way he interacts with the audience between songs and tells some stories. If you have never seen ZZ Top of BG, I highly recommend. He does play some ZZ Top songs and a smattering of covers.
He played old ZZ top blousy tunes pre MTV era. Loved it!
The show was just great - especially the collaboration with Jimmy Vaughn. Truly special. Sadley the show ended abruptly leaving us all wanting more and a little confused. To be truthful - even if it had lasted longer we would have wanted more. Antones is a national treasure - sounds great and a very nice staff! Cheers!
The show was great! The sound was great! Billy F.Gibbons was great as always! The security checking was good. Felt safe with the police present. Wish there were more seats and tables at this place. Will go again!
The night was magical. Thanks Ticketmaster for easy entry
The show started at 8:00 and was finished before 10:00. So I went to the Elephant Room afterwards and caught a great jazz band and they played for two and a half hours. Ridiculous. I expected so much more from Blues legends. Extremely disappointed.
Best performance by BFG I’ve seen in 15 years. Many people were under the impression there was more than one band. So when Billy brought out Jimmy Vaughn and they played the set together it was magical. These two veteran blues men played off each other perfectly. This show was a master class of great songs, great performances, and generosity. The gave the audience ZZ Top songs, Fabulous Thunderbird songs, JV Trio songs, and covered some classics but did them in a way that was understated classy. It also started and ended at a reasonable hour. Being waste of your target audiences age is key to a good turn out these days. Don’t miss this show!
Was a great night for pure Texas blues. Billy came out and gave us a some ZZ Top favorites I was so glade to hear Francine one of my favorites. The Jimmy joined the group and we got a big dose of Texas blues. Chris Layton and Mike Flanigan were rounded out the group. Mike rocked the Hammond B3 organ. Was just a great night. Tannihill’s is just the right size for a show like this. Sound was great. Will be going to other shows there.
The music was outstanding as expected. The bartenders were amazing given the fact the place was so crowded. We couldn’t move much less see the band. Getting to the restroom was impossible and we had several drinks spilled all over us. When we went outside just to breathe, our complaints of the venue being overcrowded were brushed off quickly. I bet the venue wasn’t in compliance with the capacity max. Waste of money for a miserable night.
Great show! Unexpected (for me) set list from the musicians! Great crowd interaction! Comfy / friendly venue and incredible sound! Extremely satisfied with the overall show / experience!
These guys were as good as I expected they would be. Really great show and venue! Billy is definitely one of the best guitarists ever. Jimmy Vaughn was also excellent as these two complement one another.
We were able to be right in front of Billy Gibbons, Jimmy Vaughan and Chris Layton. Three legends from Texas that I will always admire and appreciate. What a treat it was to be there with a couple of old friends that have enjoyed their music together with me for the past 40 years.
What a show. The five totally killed it. So glad to have been there, and I'll be going back next year. From the standards to SRV and ZZTop Just good stuff! 2 hours of great performances
Antone's annual Jungle Concert is a must see concert if you want to see the ZZ Top front man up close and personal. The VIP Jungle Room is absolutely amazing and the meet and greet with the artists is unforgettable.
