    Highly satisfying and enthusiastic production

by dprusino on 10/2/12Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

Wonderful show, wonderful cast, very tight production. The story was both emotional and comedic. This was my second Billy show. Kylend Hetherington was exceptional as a dancer, singer, and actor. The Angry Dance was emotionally captivating, the Swan Lake dream dance was mesmerizing, the Electricity dance was mature and triumphant. Mr. Elliot was wonderfully callous and stubborn until the moment of realization, Mrs. Wilkinson was brash yet supportive as a second mother, Grandma was comedic with her crazy attitude yet inwardly strong, and the brother was a wonderfully stormy unionist provocateur. The Billy goodbye scenes were appropriately anticipatory and heartfelt. The only minor disappointment was with the Billy jump off the piano rather than the Billy back flip off the piano I saw by Ty Forhan in Rochester.

    Enjoyable show!

by MmeM on 10/2/12Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

I didn't know what to expect and found the show to be really enjoyable. The talent of the young performers was amazing. The music was great and the quality of performance was excellent. It was a bit difficult to understand some of the dialog - the accents were so different than what we are used to. All in all, I loved the musical.

Show was excellent, terrific dancers, good music. The performance of this cast I found to be excellent, and I have seen Billy Elliot in New York and Toronto.

    Loved It

by Kelliw26 on 10/2/12Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

The little boy who played Billy was wonderful, you could tell he really enjoyed this role. The dancing and music was wonderful with bits of humor thrown in to round it all off. I agree with other reviews that during the angry dance, the music was a tad too loud, and I love loud music. It sort of over powered Billy's dancing instead of complementing it. You have to go see this one

Exit, at intermission, running all the way!

by lenmat on 10/2/12Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

Pitiful. It was a bizzare premise with marginal performers. I would have preferred to see Billy Fusillo in a three hour long commercial.

    Great show!

by theaterrats on 10/1/12Shea"s - Buffalo

Very entertaining overall. Ben Cook as Billy was very good. There is some swearing but that is the way a lot of people talk, and I would imagine that coal miners and their families are the swearing types. Remember that the kids that take turns playing Billy are just that - kids. They are all very good, but don't demand absolute perfection from them. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and definitely recommend thisshow.

Too much bitterness and too much cursing.

by Karen1996 on 10/1/12Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

I had no idea what the story was about when I purchased these tickets. I just went by reviews that all seemed to say , greatest show ever!" even now knowing the storyline I still say there was way too much cursing, the British accent deficult to understand most of the time, and every character was very bitter through the whole play. Even the resolution at the end wasn't satisfying . I'm sorry I went.

    Billy Elliot - AWESOME!

by GaryInBuffaloNY on 10/1/12Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

This performance needs a rating higher than 5 stars - perhaps, 20! It was that good! Do yourself a favor, go see it. You will not regret it! (I saw it twice so far) Performance is great for all ages. Stay away from where the pigeons sit - it's too far away to see the great action - spend the money and get as close as you can. Trust me on this.

    Enjoying Billy Elliott

by Anonymous on 9/30/12Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

I found the play very enjoyable. I didn"t have a clue what it would be about and the players led me through the story with the songs and narratives. I enjoyed the young ballet dancers since my granddaughters are in dance and love seeing them on stage. Every character was enjoyable and beleivable. I would recommend this play to families who enjoy musicals.

    Disappointed !!!!!!

by Keystoner on 9/29/12Shea's Performing Arts Center - Buffalo

This production was good at times, average at other times, slow part of the time, vulgar too often and loud now and then. We failed to hear any good Elton John music. We had a hard time understaning the Cockney accents. The bottom line: we would not recommend this show to others.

Most fun at the theater in ages!

by Beantowngal on 9/5/12Boston Opera House - Boston

I wasn't super excited to go to this show but my friend really wanted to see it so off we went. This show was such a fun time! I'm so glad we went! I've spent time in England so I picked up most of the lingo but it can be difficult to understand at times. The kids really are fantastic. The best is the little boy who plays Billy's friend - he steals the show. I felt like we got more than our money's worth. Everyone in the audience left smiling and humming the songs from the show.

    Total and Udder disappointment

by Ray150 on 9/1/12Boston Opera House - Boston

I saw this movie years ago with two young children and found it to be such an uplifting story of courage. Great entertainment and great musical performances - both dance and song. I took my family, including my 9 year old daughter and 78 year old Father-in-Law to the musical and couldn't have been more disappointed. The story, songs and dancing are so very sufficient to have made this a great musical but the gratuitous and insulting cursing and vulgarity added nothing but cheap laughs to the performance. It belittled it and made one wonder if cursing old ladies and young girls asking to reveal a glimpse of their Hoo-Hoo" were felt to be necessary to excite the crowd beyond talented singing and dancing. Real stinker. Sorry I paid "family-activity" money to see this one. Won't ever see it again on stage

A work of art at every level

by luvmymusicals on 8/22/12Boston Opera House - Boston

I am trying to transition my 15 year old granddaughter to sharing my obsession with musical theater productions. My first attempt was to bring her to the Lion King which she thought was boring. She was mesmerized with both the character of Billy and the production, from beginning to end, as was I. I had read some reviews which were less than stellar, but decided to go with my experience that Tony Award winners are always fantastic. I am so glad I did. I knew this would be the make it or break it production for introduction to theater for my granddaughter, at least at her age, and Billy Elliot made her a believer. When I asked at the end of the day if I should plan a theater production for our next outing, she emphatically said yes!

    Billy Elliot Excellent

Amazing performance by a 13 year old star. This young man could do all dance sceans to perfection plus he had 70% of the dialog.

    The greatest show!

by TangoCorte on 8/21/12Boston Opera House - Boston

I was delighted to see Cameron Clifford's final performance as Michael, opposite Ben Cook's Billy. Both young actors gave unforgettable performances. Billy Elliot is the greatest show I've ever seen, because in addition to the heartwarming story, the breathtaking choreography, and the gorgeous score, it also showcases the extraordinary talents of its cast, especially its youngest members! Sometimes, seeing a work of art is a life-changing experience. Attending Billy Elliot has been one of those times.

    Billy Elliot

by DavidEJr on 8/21/12Boston Opera House - Boston

What made it more eventful was that Noah Parets starred on Sunday's Matinee. This show is one of my top three of all time. The story was a roller coaster of emotion accented with fabulous singing and dancing. A must see!
