    Billy Crystal doesn't disappoint

by Machey on 10/30/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

I had really high expectations for this performance based on seeing Billy Crystal on TV and in movies for so many years - have loved his humor and storytelling. This performance was amazing. The first half left us in tears from laughing many times - how does he manage to remember all of that dialogue??? He spoke so quickly - yet clearly - but his pauses somehow allowed us all to process what he said. He just knows how to deliver a fast-paced and hilarious comedy show. The second half showed his more serious and thoughtful side, with stories, photos and pauses that were really touching. Coupled with the more light-hearted first half, it made the whole show feel complete. I was left with an ever deeper appreciation of Billy Crystal as both a performer and a man. He's a special talent.

    Billy Crystal 700 Sundays

    by Moki44 on 10/29/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

So glad I did not miss this wonderful one man show. The family history is amazing and enhanced through 8mm film shots from his father's camera. He took us through birth to , current days having us laughing hysterically at times, and holding back tears at other times. All in all, a feel good performance. Nice to know there are still families who stay together and care about each other.

Funny, touching performance where Billy shared many memorable key moments of his life. He wove them together with a perfect mixture of humor, and heartfelt emotions. I am familiar with Billy as a performer, but now also know a little bit more about him as a real person. I could relate to many of the memories, especially the unique set of relatives.

    Billy Crystal

    by TeacherMamaof2 on 10/29/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

Loved every minute of seeing Billy Crystal perform this past Saturday night in Minneapolis. We felt like he was talking with us on our very own porch with the light on. Love his stories and how he honored those who encouraged him through all the ups and downs of life. He came out afterwards and thanked us Minnesotans for - among other things - not allowing a single phone to ring during his performances all week. And topped it off with a cartwheel across the stage! I loved him before, and absolutely adore him now! God bless our Billy!

    hysterical

by AnnCT on 10/29/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

He has still got it. So funny. Helped to be old enough to recall much of the era of Billy's youth but my 33 year old daughter laughed just as hard. 2nd half is a combination of laughter and tears - as is life. give yourself a gift and go see Billy! A comment on the venue, this theater was excruciatingly slow at letting people in. Only 3 ticket takers, needed twice that. Some people missed the beginning as Billy does not allow seating while he is performing. It was not the customers' fault. They were there, jsut not inside in time! No fault of their own.

Billy's show was an interesting history of his life growing up and fun family photos. I have not laughed so hard in awhile and the old age gas issues were just hilarious! Very well done show.

    Heartwarming/Hilarious/At his BEST!

    by Cimarron12 on 10/29/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

He put himself out there -vulnerable/revealing and lifted our hearts by doing so. Besides the hilarity, I was amazed at the professional, experienced structuring of his material....how it was played out using the background of the house... the pictures displayed over the windows,... the ability he has to move between stories and transition from the heartbreak of a kid to the hilarity of his family. I almost sold my ticket to see this show because of other obligations I had. I am so glad I didn't. A not-to-be-missed performance. ---------------------------- On the other side, I found that the acted-out performance of what was supposed to be a family video of a barbeque could have been left out in it's entirety. I didn't think it worked at all. There were probably 2 initial moments that were funny, but the rest of the sequence dragged out.

This was one of the best shows I have ever seen. It was spellbinding and like being on an emotional roller coaster. Amazing person, amazing performance. The moments shared from family history were ones that everyone can relate to and reminded the audience of how precious those moments that we all take for granted really are. Also, showed how humor can get us through the wonderful times and the tough times. I LOVED EVERY MINUTE
