    Even a cartwheel!

by schmitzky on 10/25/13State Theatre - Minneapolis

I loved '700 Sundays'! It's about how many Sundays he had to be with his father before his father died. Billy Crystal is fabulous doing comedy and fabulous doing drama. Two hours of non-stop talking; belly laughing, tearing up and just plain enjoying the whole act. We went to opening night here in Minneapolis and when he came on stage after the show, he was so gracious and humble....and he even did a cartwheel! Go see it - after this broadway stint following the 6 shows in Minneapolis, he says he won't be doing this act anymore.

    Absolutely fabulous show!

I've been a fan of Billy Crystal since his days as Jodie Dallas. He does not disappoint! This show is the story of his early years; he has wonderful stories that are both funny and endearing. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say it's extremely doubtful anyone would walk away anything other than thrilled to have seen this show.

Thoroughly enjoyed Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays. There was a very effective use of home movies and the event was warm and touching but also very funny throughout. Highly recommended.

Billy's stories were funny and poignant. I liked the tributes to his family. It was very interesting to hear about his growing-up life with the jazz musicians. I did not relate to his life in NYC, but I did enjoy the cultural references that were very familiar to me. Two negatives: 1. the farting and phlegm jokes went on a little long. 2. I wish he would not have made fun of Eleanor Roosevelt's appearance; it bordered on being mean, which was not in the spirit of the whole show.

I laughed, I cried, I learned about Billy Crystal's very interesting family and childhood. Most of all, I felt like I got to know Billy. What a great guy. Warm and genuine. This was the best live entertainment I've seen in a long time.
