He stayed in the Lone Star State all through high school and went to college in Georgetown, Texas at Southwestern University. He had originally planned on getting a degree in education but ended up working as a DJ in Dallas. It was this job, which led him to try amateur stand-up nights that launched the beginnings of his comedy career. Engvall made the long-distance move to California in 1990 so he could seriously pursue a career in stand-up, and his first major break was co-hosting A Pair of Jokers with Rosie O'Donnell. He also made short appearances on The Golden Girls, The Tonight Show, An Evening at The Improv and The Late Show with David Letterman. By 1996, he had a contract with Warner Bros. and started his series of comedy albums, the first of which was title Here's Your Sign. This went on to become his signature line and a major part of all of his standup routines. He gained widespread notoriety as part of the 2000 Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which included big-name comedians Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy. He went on to participate in the tour for six years, as well as star in three related films, the Blue Collar TV show and a satellite radio show. Fans can follow him on Twitter @billengvall
Great show. Thanks for the entertainment đđ Would go to see him again.
The venue was a great place for a show. Buying the tickets was hassle free and no problems getting in the show. Bill Engvall is awesome and we would not hesitate to see his show again. We drove three hours to see his show and don't regret it for one minute.
He was great!! He is so funny!!!! I would go see him again.
I was glad to see Bill in his âretirement tourâ. He is hilarious and engaging as always. The venue on the other hand was smothering, the smoke overwhelming in the âno smoking allowed in theaterâ
Saw Bill in Owensboro, Ky, the show was awesome. We have watched him thru out his career and finally got to see him in person. The River Park Center is a great venue, not a bad seat in the house
Heâs always funny! We laughed until our sides hurt.
Best concert i have ever been to. Very comfortable seating. Will go there again when the time comes.
This was my first time seeing him live. I wish it wasn't the last time though. My husband and I went and we had as absolute fun time. We laughed hard and his interaction with the audience made it even better.
I loved the show! Bill is a great comedian who Iâve enjoyed watching over the past 30+ years. I hate to see him retire, but glad he is able!
Bill Engvall was awesome! The problem I had was that it was shocking as to how many tickets were oversold as people were having to stand for the show. I paid for ours and we lucked up in actually getting a seat, but they were against the back wall with people constantly walking in front of us--very frustrating when you pay for a seat. There were quite a number of people that did not get a seat and were having to stand for the entire show which is not right.
I have seen him several times and he is hilarious! He is also kid friendly, which is refreshing. He pulls his material from his everyday life....poor Gail! We will miss him a lot after he retires, but we wish him well!!
this was my second time to see Bill's show, and both times were so good. He is the absolute best example of how to put on a comedy show without the filth that we see hear today.
Heâs the best comedian EVER! He has earned his retirement but I am sad he wonât have more tours.
Loved every minute. Hate that it is his retirement tour. Seen him before and he was so funny and this time he was even funnier. Good luck to him in the future and keep handing out those signs!!
The show itself was great. Bill is a great story teller. Interacts with the audience. HoweverâŚthe IP venue was awful. Tickets had assigned seating but a couple hours before the show , received notification that seats in my area (barstool balcony) were first come, first serve. There were a lot of arguments and ugly remarks made by those that either did not get a seat or were crammed against the wall and could not see the stage, and I must say they were justified. The IP needs to do better.
The show was great! I would definitely go see Bill again. But the venue at French Lick IN did not explain that general admission tickets meant you would not have a seat but youâd be expected to stand the entire show. That was very disappointing! The event staff even said that was not explained to ticket holders.
I haven't laughed that hard in a long time and it was needed!! He always brings his A game and is so entertaining. Laughter is so hard to come by now days and he did not disappoint!!
Show was excellent. He had us laughing the entire show. I would definitely go see him again
It surpassed expectations. We had great seats, his material was all new, and I laughed through the entire show. He was a true professional and Iâm glad to have had the opportunity to see him in person. A truly wonderful evening.
It was a great show just wish it lasted a little longer
