He stayed in the Lone Star State all through high school and went to college in Georgetown, Texas at Southwestern University. He had originally planned on getting a degree in education but ended up working as a DJ in Dallas. It was this job, which led him to try amateur stand-up nights that launched the beginnings of his comedy career. Engvall made the long-distance move to California in 1990 so he could seriously pursue a career in stand-up, and his first major break was co-hosting A Pair of Jokers with Rosie O'Donnell. He also made short appearances on The Golden Girls, The Tonight Show, An Evening at The Improv and The Late Show with David Letterman. By 1996, he had a contract with Warner Bros. and started his series of comedy albums, the first of which was title Here's Your Sign. This went on to become his signature line and a major part of all of his standup routines. He gained widespread notoriety as part of the 2000 Blue Collar Comedy Tour, which included big-name comedians Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White and Larry the Cable Guy. He went on to participate in the tour for six years, as well as star in three related films, the Blue Collar TV show and a satellite radio show. Fans can follow him on Twitter @billengvall
BILL ENGVALL'S SHOWS ARE SO TRUE TO LIFE!!! WORTH THE DRIVE TO SEE, WOULD DO IT AGAIN!
Our seats were great and Bill Engvall was wonderful! I didn't know that San Bernardino had such a great theatre as the California Theatre of the Performing Arts where we saw Bill! I would definitely go to that theatre again and would definitely watch for Bill Engvall performances in the area! Clean, funny, and nonstop fun!
Bill Engvall was really funny! He had a lot of new material which we really enjoyed. He always delivers!
We had been to the Desert Arena last fall to see Bill Cosby. We really enjoyed the show and liked the theater alot. So when a friend was coming to town and emailed me about wanting to see Bill Engvall, I decided to order tickets for us. We had never seen him before, but I had seen his show on TV a few times. Well we had a GREAT time! He was so funny, and I laughed so much, my face hurt! And his facial expressions add to the humor. We would definitely see him again! The only complaint I had is when we went to the theater this time, it was packed. The last time it wasn't. Their seating is very close and not much leg room in the rows. I wish they had allowed for just a few more inches of room between the rows. But that would be the only complaint I had. We would still definitely go back for another show.
I think that for the money that Bill should have been on stage either longer or had another comedian as an opening act.
Great performance! Really enjoyed how Bill was able to keep it clean and funny! He truly is a gifted performer!
What a show. From the moment he walked out until two hours later, we laughed, laughed, and then just for fun, we laughed some more. Everything he said and talked about was as funny as could be. Highly recommended.
I have enjoyed Bill Engvall on the Blue Collar Comedy Tour videos and on the TV shows. I also enjoy his sitcom. However, in person he's even better. Haven't laughed that much in years.
This man is so funny, my cheeks hurt from laughing so hard. It's nice to know that comedy can still be clean. No profanity, No problem. He has a way of telling stories that just crack you up. I would defenitly go see him again and I highly recommend people who want to have a good time, to go see him.
This man is non-stop, true to life, brings the everyday to funny. Would see him again and again. Thank you for coming to San Bernardino.
We laughed we cried (because we laughed so much) during this show. Bill Engvall is the family name in comedy. Never dirty, always funny, we had such a good time at this show, we would recommend this to anyone. If you don't see it then Here's Your Sign.
Bill is one of our favorite comedines. He is quit funny. My wonderful wife and I relate to Bill for we have been married for 26 years. I too am a nerd so my wife says.
The show was great. I couldn't believe how close we really were to Bill. I would definitely attend another Bill Engvall show
Had us in stitches the whole routine. Not dirty, very funny. Talks about things that we all experience, but his take on these things make them bearable. We love his humor.
I had intended to take my boyfriend for his 58th birthday but at the last minute wasnt able to but I did take my mother. We both enjoyed the show very much. My only complaint would be that the drinks for purchase werent cold and the seating was tight. My mother is in a wheel chair and the people on staff were very helpful and kind. Id like to see him again in the future but hope the tickets arent priced so high for 8th row.
I took my daughter to see Bill Engvall for her 19th birthday. We both thought he was very funny. I appreciated the fact that his content and language was clean. Neither of us felt embarrassed. Thank you for providing entertainment we could both relate to and enjoy.
I stretched my budget beyond all reason to buy these tickets because my teenage son LOVES Bill Engvall. And I like him a heck of a lot myself! We went, we watched, we listened and we laughed ourselves silly. After the show, we stood by the stage waiting for the aisles to clear out a little toward the exit, and my 17-year old son said, "Hands down BEST Christmas present ever, Mom. Even if I did have to wait six months to collect it." Next Christmas can only be anticlimactic.
Bill has a way of making you feel like he's talking just to you. He's very personable and natural and downright hilarious.
Totally awesome. Had heard a great deal of his material and still laughed out loud at most. Only downer was that the Beau Rivage (?) or Engvall's management limited the concert to 21 year olds and older only. There was NO reason for that. My 17 year old son was highly disappointed he couldn't attend. He would have LOVED the show. Whomever decided on that stipulation didn't know Engvall's work or was just trying to keep the under-21's out of the casino area. Other than that, the show was great. Would recommend his show to anyone (16 or older!)
We laughed our butts off. I think we laughed the whole show which was over an hour. It was great! Our kids were jealous cause they couldn't go. Thanks for an awesome time.
