BILL COSBY ON TOUR:

Legendary family funnyman Bill Cosby has been making America laugh for over half a century, proving that clean, wholesome humor still has a welcome place in today's stand-up circuit. From his days as Jell-O's spokesman to his role on the eponymous Cosby Show, his folksy demeanor and all-inclusive comedy have made him a national treasure, with a fanbase that spans generations. Hot on the heels of 2013'S Bill Cosby: Far From Finished — his first TV standup special in 30 years — Cosby is once again on tour, treating audiences around the country to his signature brand of family-friendly comedy.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Cosby  was a class clown as a young student, but he was also a high achiever, acting as captain of the baseball team and class president. After a demanding work schedule led him to drop out of school, he joined the Navy, continuing to hone his comedic talent while shooting  the breeze with fellow servicemen. Soon after his time in the service, Cosby began performing at clubs around the country, ultimately landing a pivotal spot on NBC's Tonight Show. That appearance gained him the exposure he needed to break into acting, paving the way for his Emmy-nominated role on the show I Spy and his popular Saturday morning cartoon Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. His biggest success, however, was the era-defining Cosby Show, which dominated airwaves in the '80s as the most popular TV show in the country for five straight seasons. In addition to numerous acclaimed acting roles, Cosby has continued to perform and record stand-up over the years, racking up a whopping nine Grammys for his comedy albums and cementing his place among the giants of American comedy.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Enjoyed 2hours of laughs! He combined some old material with new material and the result was great laughs. It was a pleasure to experience good clean fun --- no profanity or descriptive sexual encounters used to get a cheap laugh."

"Still he can captivate an audience for 2 1/2 hours while sitting in his chair just telling us hilarious stories as if he was in our living room, just making us laugh our heads off!"

"Cosby is a master. He spoke for 2.5 hours without a note or a prompt. He just told funny story after funny story."

Cosby has a great comedy show!

by Arizonalady on 7/16/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

My husband and I attended the Bill Cosby show on Father's Day as a family together with our oldest daughter and her husband (late 20's), oldest son (23 yr. old grad student), second daughter (19 yr. old college student) and youngest son (14 yr. old freshman). Mr. Cosby's show was indeed a family show appropriate for all ages. Bill Cosby has the gift of being able to describe the incredible humor in his real life situations, and it was refreshing and appreciated that he did not use vulgar language or focus on coarse situations, as the majority of comedians do today. As I looked down the row of seats, everyone in our family was laughing and really enjoying the show. Perhaps because it was Father's Day, Mr. Cosby focused on marriage and family relationships we related to. After the show our family did the typical "what did you think of the show", and it was clear that everyone loved Mr. Cosby's down-to-earth and casual story-telling delivery and interaction with the audience. I highly recommend this show for everyone. Bill Cosby brings a great show that's clean and yet is hilarious.

    Bill Cosby was hilarious!

by Genny6 on 7/16/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

This was an excellent show. I laughed so hard each time Mr. Cosby told a story. I had to find some tissue in my purse, because my eyes were watering so much from laughter. I come back ot see him again in a heartbeat. He is such a funny storyteller. I also enjoyed how he interacted with the audience. He made us seem like family. Great, great show!

    Long Live Cosby

by MamaJenn on 7/15/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

It's hard to find genuinely funny, clean comedy these days, but again, the legend himself continues. Nothing could have been better than a Father's Day show to take my husband to (who is a father also :), where all Cosby joked about was wives. It was just fantastic!

    Very good show!

by Immaturelady on 7/15/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

Bill was entertaining, and comfortable with the audience. I liked how he had audience participation. In addition, with our show, he had everyone come up front, closer, because it was a smaller group...it made it more intimate and we could see so much better! Good laughs and good times.

    cosby still funny

by gerrylynn on 7/15/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

Saw bill cosby over 30 years ago...show topics different but observations still funny. He can still hold an audience and handle the hecklers. The millionaire in plastic shoes knows whats going on and could make people laugh without using foul language.

    It's Bill Cosby!!

by AZHiker on 7/15/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

Are you kidding? It's Bill Cosby! Of course it was a great show. I took my Dad for Father's Day and he loved it! The show was in theme about "Fathers" and "Husbands". We grew up listening & laughing to Bill's recordings and this really took us back to those days. Bill's still got it!

    Tired and a little bitter

by kjplanes on 7/15/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

The Cosby I saw on June 14th 2009 was not the Cosby I remember from times past. I realize that it was Father's day so a little female slaming was in the cards, but geeze, sounded to me that there were other issues (personal) creaping into the show. In the past I remember a vibrant comedy show. June 14th was not such a show. The man's body language and demeaner showed like he was bored and he looked like he really did not want to be at the Desert Diamond out in the middle of the Desert Southwest. Can hardly blame him on that however as for the few times I have been to that venue the place showed me nothing. Poor acoustics, bad lighting and a decore that reminds one of a high school auditorium complete with put-away chairs. The whole atmosphere gives a personality the impression that he or she are diffentely on the way out. Mr. Cosby noticed as I am sure many others before him and after him will notice. The venue is not first class, hence the performances will show it. But hey why should Mr. Cosby care? He's a multi millionaire. As he made sure to mention as he cleared the dull dark stage. I am only sorry that I helped pay his way that night.

    Cosby great as usual

by BabsyinAZ on 7/15/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

Cosby was in true form for this concert. He took care of audience noise with his easy going demeanor, but admonished those who had crying babies. Humor was great for every age group.

    Cosby is still the master

by Teebo on 7/15/09Turning Stone Resort & Casino Showroom - Verona

It was so nice to hear a great performer and great writing. So many comedians these days are shocking but not the least bit funny because they are profane, crude, and obsessed with talking about sex. Bill Cosby still has great routines, his improv with the audience is great, and even though I have heard his wrapup dentist routine a few times I had tears rolling down my face I was laughing so hard. Our seats were great, 30 feet from the stage, so the intimacy of the location added to the fun. Just an awesome show.

    He still has it!

by fire2009 on 7/15/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

Bill Cosby demonstrated thet he still has what it takes to work before a live audience. His storytelling and insight on life itself are just as refreshing (and valid) as his performances decades ago; his reflections are from a more mature perspective that's every bit as humorous!

by Flaco on 7/15/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

Forty years ago my wife and I went on our first date in late May, 1969--to a Bill Cosby concert at the auditorium on the University of Arizona campus. My wife laughed so hard at the concert, I thought she was going to hurt herself. When I saw that he was coming to the Desert Diamond Casino in Tucson in June, 2009--I thought this could be a fortieth anniversary date. We went and found that he is just as funny as he was forty years ago. My wife laughed just as hard as 40 years before. The only thing was the difference in price. Using a student I.D. I think I paid $5 for two tickets in 1969. In 2009 I paid $85. It just goes to show that if you keep a woman around long enough--they become high maintenance!

    Sadly Disappointed!

by Wendall on 7/15/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

We saw Cosby in Tucson in June. The seating was deceiving. When online the seating appeared to be tiered and it was labled as such. When we arrived to our seats it was a flat surface like a large landing and we could not see over the heads of the people in front of us and there was a pathway on our isle so people kept walking back and forth in front of us to go get food or find their seats. There were 2 large viewing screens, but I did not pay over $100 to watch tv....I was very disappointed. I had taken my teenage son who has listened to Cosby with me for a few years and we both just love him. We would have been better off to have rented it on DVD and watched it at home. Performance was very short. Cosby seemed slightly distracted during his performance as well. His delivery was slow, he was bothered by hecklers and engaged with them too much, he even left the stage at one point to tell someone backstage to quit talking about the airport. His subject matter was mostly about marriage and elder humor as well - not geared to the younger audience that was in attendance. Next time we'll watch from the comfort of our livingroom and enjoy a dvd. On the bright side the food was good, reasonably priced and the air conditioning was working great!
