BILL COSBY ON TOUR:

Legendary family funnyman Bill Cosby has been making America laugh for over half a century, proving that clean, wholesome humor still has a welcome place in today's stand-up circuit. From his days as Jell-O's spokesman to his role on the eponymous Cosby Show, his folksy demeanor and all-inclusive comedy have made him a national treasure, with a fanbase that spans generations. Hot on the heels of 2013'S Bill Cosby: Far From Finished — his first TV standup special in 30 years — Cosby is once again on tour, treating audiences around the country to his signature brand of family-friendly comedy.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Philadelphia, Cosby  was a class clown as a young student, but he was also a high achiever, acting as captain of the baseball team and class president. After a demanding work schedule led him to drop out of school, he joined the Navy, continuing to hone his comedic talent while shooting  the breeze with fellow servicemen. Soon after his time in the service, Cosby began performing at clubs around the country, ultimately landing a pivotal spot on NBC's Tonight Show. That appearance gained him the exposure he needed to break into acting, paving the way for his Emmy-nominated role on the show I Spy and his popular Saturday morning cartoon Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. His biggest success, however, was the era-defining Cosby Show, which dominated airwaves in the '80s as the most popular TV show in the country for five straight seasons. In addition to numerous acclaimed acting roles, Cosby has continued to perform and record stand-up over the years, racking up a whopping nine Grammys for his comedy albums and cementing his place among the giants of American comedy.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Enjoyed 2hours of laughs! He combined some old material with new material and the result was great laughs. It was a pleasure to experience good clean fun --- no profanity or descriptive sexual encounters used to get a cheap laugh."

"Still he can captivate an audience for 2 1/2 hours while sitting in his chair just telling us hilarious stories as if he was in our living room, just making us laugh our heads off!"

"Cosby is a master. He spoke for 2.5 hours without a note or a prompt. He just told funny story after funny story."

    Cosby was very boring

by Prune on 7/17/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

My husband and I have seen Bill Cosby in concert three times. We thoroughly enjoyed the first two showe. This one, however, was very forgetable. If you were lucky enough to be seated in the first or second row, he may have spoken to you. However, the people sitting way back (we were in the seventh row center) were bored, restless and ready to leave after about 10 minutes. He mainly talked to five or six people in the front rowand seemed to forget there was anyone else there. He did not familiar routines. After a certain amount of time, he asked a man in the front row what time it was, said he had to fininsh, as he had another show, and basically walked off stage. We would certainly not waste our time, sasy nothing about our money, to see Mr. Cosby again.

    Bill Cosby Awesome

by speedtwo on 7/17/09Orchestra Hall - Minneapolis

Mr. Cosby was on stage for 2 1/2 hours and the show was absolutely fabulous. I don't think one person got up and moved around or left the auditorium. I will go see him again and again. This is the third time and his show was fresh and entertaining. One of the best entertainers of all time. I would recommend his show to any one or any age.

Real Life Comedy for the Whole Family

by LongTimeCosbyFan on 7/17/09Orchestra Hall - Minneapolis

This is the second time we've seen Bill Cosby live and he doesn't disappoint. By the time the show is over, your cheeks will hurt from laughing. I love how he can find the humor in familiar everyday situations. And it's comedy the whole family can enjoy. Make sure you watch as well as listen. Mr. Cosby displays so much of his humor through his face and his actions. We were sitting back a ways so we were grateful for the large screen.

Maybe the third time wasn't any charm

by Msdenny on 7/16/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

I first went to be entertained by Mr Bill Cosby at Ohio State University in1968 or 69--I wasn't 'invited' to the original event and as it turned out he had to reschedule and this time a nice fraternity guy asked me to go and I was so excited and not disappointed. I laughed so hard--I cried. Everything was sharp and wonderful--he was fabulous. The next time I saw Mr Cosby (in person) was at TCC in downtown Tucson--in the round, in 1991 and again I laughed so hard--the tears rolled. He was as funny as he was more than twenty years earlier. I was so excited about seeing him again--and maybe the problem was it was Father's Day-----and that was the basis of every joke--and some were funny--but not enough. Each time he told someone in the audience to "shut up" it did not come off as funny or sharp--it was almost mean. Either way--he missed the mark. I won't go to another concert with Mr Cosby---the cost is too much for what can be delivered--with the need for political correctness--amd not offending anyone. And his astute awareness of the differences between men and women--now comes across more as resentment than insight. I 'love' the man---what he stands for and what he has done---I just now choose to remember those unforgettable events I was lucky to attend and forget the third.

Bill Cosby live is a Gas!

by Gremmie on 7/16/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

I took my son to the show, since we are both Bill Cosby fans. Though he didn't do any of his old skits, he really is very funny with whatever he does. My son and I laughed and laughed, along with the entire audience. His humor is clean and ageless.

    I Never Laughed So Much

by VIGuyStuckInAZ on 7/16/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

The Bill Cosby as himself DVD I saw the night before this event was moot vs the live experience. I've watched the DVD so many times and still laugh out loud. Watching him live, his brilliance, and how he had so many improvs had me laughing from beginning to end. I left that night with a headache from all the laughing I did. I probably added a couple of years to my life (hopefully). :-) I would definitely go and see him again any day!

    Classically funny

by 4meraussiewannabe on 7/16/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

Relationships are fodder for Cos' routine. Digging right back to the book of Genesis for his material, Bill knows his Bible. Prompting the audience to finish famous verses, then good-naturally deriding them for getting them wrong, he demonstrated the sharp wit for which he is famous. Painting pictures with his words of spousal disagreements, parent-child discussions - all the while relating to the audience as if they were his trusted friend and confidant - Bill shines as he relates the conundrums of the day-to-day husband and father. (The only reason I did not give the performance 5 stars had more to do with the limitations of the venue.)

    Laughs with Cosby

by FlowerPower on 7/16/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

Bill Cosby was great at the June 21st, Fathers day show! We loved his CLEAN HUMOR, and if he was a little slower than days past, it didn't matter one bit! The sound was loud enough and the side screens with close-ups were nice since a single comedian is actually small on a large stage. It was our first time at this venue, and we couldn't figure out why everyone was in line before opening when it was an assigned seat event -- it was because there was food and drinks available inside! Nice to know for next time.

    Lame

by pschmidt13 on 7/16/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

This concert was a waste of money. I didn't think it was funny. He had funnier jokes in the past. This concert was sexiet. Did not enjoy at all. I took my sons they did not enjoy this either. Would not recommend this show. We went on Father's Day and the jokes were all based on marriage. He ran down his wife the entire show.

    Cosby was ... Cosby

by GVBirder on 7/16/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

This show was on Father's Day, and Cosby's presentation was particularly dedicated to newly-married and about-to-be married young men, giving advice on how to get along with wives and children. There was no fanfare or announcement. Cosby simply walked out on stage, sat down and began chatting with the audience. His style was very calm and measured, but he brilliantly built comment upon comment until I was laughing until my sides hurt. He interacted with various members of the audience, and in some cases told people to "shut up," in a way that wasn't offensive. Definitely had the audience in his hands throughout.

Cosby needs to just hang it up

by mmikem on 7/16/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

This "show" was the worst comic presentation I've seen in a long time. All the material was a re-hash of old themes. Delivery was not what Cosby has been. 1.5 hour show and he did 3-4 bits. The whole show left me feeling like he was just there for the money. I won't go see him again. I will listen and watch his classic shows from the past!

    Phoned it in

by Dave396 on 7/16/09Desert Diamond Casino - Tucson

I was very disappointed in this show. I believe Bill just phoned it in. He was not funny nor entertaining.
