Great show, great time, and got a great price on the tickets.
The musical was great, but deviated too much from the actual movie's storyline.
overall, the show was very good. I don't think the story was emotional enough (especially at the end). events seemed tushed and sometimes forced.
This show was a pleasant surprise. I see a variety of Broadway shows, and I have come to the conclusion that shows made after an already made film are typically flops, but this show definitely broke that mold. I would actually go see it again given the opportunity.
It was a wonderful touching story, so sad it have to end.
Great show, unfortunate the show is ending - great performance by all
It closes today so this is pretty irrelevant. I am amazed this did not last that long on Broadway as it is one of the best shows I have seen (of around 20). The special effects were very cool, wonderful story, wonderful acting/music/singing/dancing.
AWESOME!!!!!!! CANNOT BELIEVE IT IS CLOSING. ACTING, SCENERY, STORY HAS EVERYTHING ANYONE COULD ASK FOR IN A MUSICAL. VERY SAD TO SEE THAT IT WILL NOT BE THERE FOR MORE PEOPLE TO SEE.
These talented performers, both behind the scenes and on the stage, gave a truly memorable performance. Their dedication to deliver this magical tale just 4 days before the close of the show is the mark of true professionals and you could tell they loved this show. It was a magical way to spend the holidays and for those of you who were able during the show's run or are able today to Dream Bigger, we were all very fortunate to hear Edward Bloom's fish tale.
The sets were amazing, the singing was wonderful, and we all cried on the end. A very magical experience.
Norman Leo Butz you gave a momentous performance. Thank you
Big Fish is one of the best Broadway Shows that I have ever seen! I saw it first in previews, then came back to see it again because it was so good!. Possibly even better the second time around! The songs were great, the singing was magical, the sets were unique and the characters all were sparkling!
I saw this show originally in previews in Chicago and brought my family to the show in New York because I thought it was one of the best shows I have seen in a long time. I would recommend this show to anyone who enjoys fantastical journeys with a lot of heart.
Wonderful show - great music, amazing visual effects.
Big Fish is an amazing show. It tells a heart warming story full of love, laughter and tears. So sad to see this show closing. The cast is incredibly talented!
The technology in this play was fantastic and the story memorable. The music was catchy and the switch from movie to play doesn't leave any less of an impression. The movie wasn't a musical number but the music added in the play conveyed the points just as well.
On the plus side, Big Fish has fantastic production value - it's big, it's pretty to look at, and the cast performs their heart out. Nobert Leo Butz as Ed Bloom is in his usual top form, and Kate Baldwin brings some much needed restraint as Bloom's patient wife. But the negative trumps all the positive - a brilliant film has been dumbed down to a 2nd grade level. Every emotion and plot turn is starkly spoon-fed and the obvious is dropped on you again and again. Emotional moments are pulled out a the back pocket, rather than motivated. And there is hardly a memorable song in the lot. It can be considered 'safe family fare', as the content is all squeaky clean. There IS one genuinely moving moment: "I Don't Need a Roof" sung by Kate Baldwin as Sandra Bloom. It's a stunningly gorgeous number that sets itself apart from the rest of the show. Had the rest of the show has been this moving, it would have been a home run. But what should have been a genuinely moving musical becomes just another piece of formulaic tearjerking.
Very enjoyable show that explores complex family relationships and puts on a fun and dynamic show. The visual effects blending lighting projected images and costumes was a standout - as was the lead, what a big role to carry off & he really did it. Big and boisterous as well as vulnerable - powerful.
I love Leo Norbet Butz and went to this show because of him but in this show he was boring, seemed out of breath and sweaty. The acoustics were so bad that we could not hear the words or the songs and we were near the front. The costumes were uninteresting, the little son stiff and seemed lost. The older son had no personality and seemed uninterested and the dancing was so blah. Overall I understand why the reviews were so poor. We left at intermission very disappoint in this tired performance
This was a beautiful production. A must see! Too bad it's closing.
