About

Fans in search of toe-tapping, brass-honking, high-energy swing revival need look no further than Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. The slick, stylish group have always been as tight as a drum on record, but their live performances are even more impressive, inciting furious dancing among veteran and novice swing dancers alike. Dressed to the nines in their trademark zoot suits and brandishing upbeat favorites like "Go Daddy-O" and "Mr. Pinstripe Suit," Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will take the stage with more energy than ever on their upcoming tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was formed in Southern California in 1989 by frontman Scotty Morris and drummer Kurt Sodergren. After self-releasing their eponymous debut album in 1994, the band got their big break when their songs "Go-Daddy-O," "Mr. Pinstripe Suit," and "You & Me & The Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)" were featured in the 1996 cult film classic Swingers. The popularity boost that followed landed them a deal with Capitol Records, resulting in a string of swinging albums that included Americana Deluxe (1998) and Save My Soul (2003). In addition to performing in the 1999 Super Bowl half-time show, the band has shared the stage with some of the world's leading symphony orchestras, including the LA Phil and the San Francisco Symphony. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy fans have plenty to look forward to as the boys hit the road for another electric round of shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"These guys are one of the slickest units touring today. They deliver to goods every night and watching the interaction on stage is really the cherry on top. Everything a professional touring band should be."

"...if you like big band music you will never see better players and/or performers! Truly amazing players and Scott the lead singer was spot on as always!"

"As good as the recordings are, they are even better live! The lead singer, Scotty, has a unique voice, great style, and a charming attitude. The band was masterful and tight."

    Great show

by Rreindeer on 12/15/23E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

Overall it was a GREAT show. First time we'd ever heard BBVD perform - as gift from my son. Might have been sound system at venue (EJ Thomas) or where we were sitting (within first 12 rows but off to side) but found it hard to understand much of what was sung by the main singer. Words sung by musicians were easily understood (especially by the bass player) thus suspect sound system. The music was awesome.

    Tight

by JoeP on 12/15/23E.J. Thomas Hall - The University of Akron - Akron

The band is great. Some of the best horns ever. Third time weve seen them. They could throw in a new tune once in a while. Could have used a 15 minute intermission. 90 minutes with no break. EJ Thomas is a great venue but they need to have more than one server for drinks, the line was 30 deep. They have 10 greeters and one person serving. Sorry, getting my Karen on. We will be back!

    What a GREAT SHOW!

    by Jonny Bonzai on 12/13/23

We have seen them several times now and its always a great show. We just attended their Holiday show at EJ Thomas Hall at Akron University. They had a great mix of holiday music and their popular swing songs. The musical talent and showmanship of the "boys"is tremendous. The lead singer, Scotty Morris just oozes cool and his great voice and mannerisms just adds to the vibe. The overall show will give you a foot tapping, cool nostalgic feeling and leave you wanting more.

Great Show! We always go see them, if they are in the area. First time we heard them; we were at Epcot at Disney. We heard this killer intro while we were walking around Epcot. We looked at each other and went wow! So, we went looking for where it was coming from! They were performing at the Ampitheater! Intro was to Jumpin, Jack!! We been hooked ever since. Their a Class Act, full of Energy, if you haven't seen them, you're missing it!

I’ve been trying to catch a Big Bad Voodoo Daddy show for 20 years and WOW it was worth the wait. The band’s energy was topped only by their incredible skills as musicians. This was an outstanding venue to see this group and our close seats were perfect for this intimate setting. I enjoyed every minute of this show!

    Amazing Night Out

by MadCity Damage Inc on 7/2/23

Hey Scotty...what's it gonna be? Of all the shows that I've attended this year, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy has been my favorite. No opener, solid two hours of music, and amazing stage presence. The band line up is largely unchanged in 30 years, meaning that they are tight as heck live. I smiled so hard that my face hurt this morning. There were countless standout moments, but a favorite was when the band launched into "Smells Like Teen Spirit"and Scotty made the hand signal universally recognized by all metal fans: the "Circle Pit." This show would have been even better if it hadn't been seated. That said, it is less egregious if you are in the front row.

I have listened to BBVD to 30 years! Their music is just so catchy and upbeat. It always leaves me wanting for more. I live in Dallas, but will willingly travel to attend their concerts. This one in New Orleans was fabulous! Thanks, BBVD, for a great 30 years!

    Awesome - as always

by Kat on 6/25/23The Joy Theater - New Orleans

BBVD is always an amazing show. The band is tight, they obviously love every minute of performing. Venue - Joy Theatre in New Orleans was intimate and had good acoustics. We follow this band and every time they are in the area we go to their show. I wish they would play in the NOLA area more often.

What a wonderful evening if energy and great music. After 30 years you could tell that they loved what they were doing. The music was amazing. This was our first live music performance since the pandemic and everything moving forward is going to have to live up to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy’s show. They set the bar high!
