About

Fans in search of toe-tapping, brass-honking, high-energy swing revival need look no further than Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. The slick, stylish group have always been as tight as a drum on record, but their live performances are even more impressive, inciting furious dancing among veteran and novice swing dancers alike. Dressed to the nines in their trademark zoot suits and brandishing upbeat favorites like "Go Daddy-O" and "Mr. Pinstripe Suit," Big Bad Voodoo Daddy will take the stage with more energy than ever on their upcoming tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was formed in Southern California in 1989 by frontman Scotty Morris and drummer Kurt Sodergren. After self-releasing their eponymous debut album in 1994, the band got their big break when their songs "Go-Daddy-O," "Mr. Pinstripe Suit," and "You & Me & The Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)" were featured in the 1996 cult film classic Swingers. The popularity boost that followed landed them a deal with Capitol Records, resulting in a string of swinging albums that included Americana Deluxe (1998) and Save My Soul (2003). In addition to performing in the 1999 Super Bowl half-time show, the band has shared the stage with some of the world's leading symphony orchestras, including the LA Phil and the San Francisco Symphony. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy fans have plenty to look forward to as the boys hit the road for another electric round of shows.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"These guys are one of the slickest units touring today. They deliver to goods every night and watching the interaction on stage is really the cherry on top. Everything a professional touring band should be."

"...if you like big band music you will never see better players and/or performers! Truly amazing players and Scott the lead singer was spot on as always!"

"As good as the recordings are, they are even better live! The lead singer, Scotty, has a unique voice, great style, and a charming attitude. The band was masterful and tight."

    Jammin' Orchestra!!!

by Katrinab on 7/21/09Birchmere - Alexandria

What a great time this was! The boys didn't disappoint! The jazzy, big band fusion had a swinging beat and the guys were all on top of their game! The Birch was the perfect venue to get up close and personal with this band. If you dig swing, you will love this band. What a great tribute to Cab Calloway!!

Dancin' in my seat to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

    by Elizabeth55 on 7/21/09Birchmere - Alexandria

Excellent set. the guys know how to entertain. Their New Orleans sequence looked effortless, but playing those instruments slow is daunting and difficult night after night! they did amazing. After it was all over, we could meet the band, and they are the friendliest, down to earth guys ever!! Wish the venue had a dance floor!! this is not sit in your seat music, and snap your fingers too~ youve got to move !

    Great Band, Small Dance Floor

by riSwinger on 7/18/09Showcase Live - Foxboro

Voo Doo Daddy sounded great again but, I was disappointed that the dance floor was smaller than the last time. Tables should be kept off the wooden floor; there is plenty of room for tables near the bar.

    Better live than recordings!

by JaneandTim on 7/18/09Showcase Live - Foxboro

These guys are consummate musicians. They are tight, their sound is red hot and you cannot sit still when they are playing. They love the music they play, they connect with the audience and they wholly entertained us. This is the third time we have seen this band live, and they just keep getting better!

swing to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy

by antique on 7/17/09Wildhorse Saloon - Nashville

Swing dancin' to Big Bad Voodoo Daddy at the Wildhorse is about the most fun us old folks have had in years...I'm 71 and wife and I danced to music like this in high school. Don't care what your age or music groove, you gotta love these guys and it's really hard to sit still when they play. Other than Jimmy Buffet, this is as good as it gets..!

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was awesome!

by Churchlady on 7/16/09Wildhorse Saloon - Nashville

One of our favorite bands and it was a thrill to see them live. The audiance was really into the mucis, even dressed for the event. Not to happy with the Wildhorse venue. Our tickets were purchased early and were had picked really good seats/ Then the WH changed the floor plan and put us off to the side on bar height tables. By the end of the night they were so uncomfortaable, our backs hurt. We have been to a couple of concerts there and have always been disappointed about how they handle their concerts. We most likely will not go to any more concerts at the Wildhorse. Suggest bands use the Sommet or another venue when in Nashville.

by stroupy on 7/16/09Wildhorse Saloon - Nashville

We had so much fun. The venue was great because we also got to learn some line dancing when there was time between the acts. The guys were wonderful and we would love to have them back in Nashville.

Who plays a show for an HOUR?

by swinggirl on 7/15/09Wildhorse Saloon - Nashville

This band is AMAZING. It's just too bad their entire show only runs about 75 minutes! They had an opening act which helped, but I came to the show at 9:15, and it was over by 10:20! What concert ends at 10:20?! People were still dancing and staring at the stage like, "seriously?" It's over? Fortunately, I purchased the $20 tickets, but some poor souls purchased a $75 ticket!

Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was big and "bad"!

by Juanita on 7/11/09Turning Stone Resort & Casino Showroom - Verona

The band was terrific! They had a lot of energy. Their musicianship was great. We loved being able to swing on the dance floor while the band played. My husband is a big fan and was very happy to get the lead singer's autograph on their latest CD after the show. All in all a great time!
