A Wonderful Evening With Bernadette Peters
by jimg1960 on 2/17/14Genesee Theatre - WaukeganRating: 5 out of 5Bernadette Peters started right on time and captivated the audience from the first moment she stepped on stage. She sang, she talked and entertained non stop for more than 90 minuets. Starting off with Let Me Entertain You, that's what she did for the entire time she was on stage. Selections from Into The Woods, South Pacific, Follies, Company just to name a few. During several Sondheim ballads the audience was spellbound and at times absolutely silent as she performed. She finished to a standing ovation and the appreciation of everyone there. I have never had the opportunity to see a musical on Broadway so this was the next best thing to see Ms. Peters live on stage in Waukegan of all places. It was also my first time at the Genessee Theatre and I definitely want to come back! We happened to drive around to the stage door after the show where a crowd of 20 or so people had gathered in the hope of seeing her after the show and we were not disappointed. As she came out she took the time to sign autographs, talk, and pose for photographs for everyone there. She was very gracious and congenial. An outstanding performer and person.
