About

All the world's a stage, and the Spanish guitar is one of its greatest instruments. Benise is bringing his Flamenco-inspired pieces and tango-infused dance numbers to the stage, leaving all who hear him spellbound in his wake. Benise is a world-renowned guitarist who has brought his unique blend of Spanish guitar and world music to stages worldwide since the early 2000s. His 2022 tour, aptly named the "20th Anniversary Tour," showcases the best of Benise throughout the years by virtue of music and dance.

His passion for the guitar has taken him on an incredible journey from the streets of Omaha to busking in Southern California and finally to the world stage. Known as "The Prince of Spanish Guitar," Benise has been wowing audiences worldwide with his sizzling music and spellbinding dance for over two decades, rocking fans across the globe with his sultry blend of Spanish guitar and world rhythms, winning the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.

The result: a mesmerizing feast of sight and sound from which no audience member will ever want to escape. Benise has truly mastered an international style of music having been influenced by nearly every genre possible, with great depth and passion vibrating underneath.

Growing up on a farm in Nebraska, his devotion to rock music was palpable. That success was just a twinkle in Benise's eye before finally picking up flamenco music in 1994. From there, he met violinist Jim Sitterly, guitarists Gilberto Gonzales and Yussi, bassist Mychal Lomas, drummer Carlos Lopez, and percussionist CG Ryche and formed a band (also) called Benise.

Benise's sound is primarily influenced by flamenco music and incorporates elements spanning Brazilian samba, Cuban salsa, Parisian waltz, African drumming, and more. The magic happens by bringing together musicians from different countries to create a unique sound that melds their cultures through music.

A significant turning point in Benise's career came when PBS approached him to create a show for its "Great Performances'' series. He spent time writing and recording what would become "Nights of Fire!" -- which made its broadcast debut on public television stations nationwide in 2006 and subsequently won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety or Music Program.

Since its debut, "Nights of Fire!" has drawn in audiences of all types -- whether or not they have any familiarity with flamenco music. Dazzling lights, dancers and aerial performers make you feel like you're experiencing something transcendent rather than just listening to a concert.

Benise's ability to reproduce sounds from around the world makes him a force of nature. His original style has earned him worldwide recognition, while he continues to push the envelope. Don't miss out on this unique spellbinding performance and see Benise live when he comes to a city near you.

  • An evening to appreciate living

by Gisel on 10/11/21Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St PetersburgRating: 5 out of 5

The performance was amazing very enjoyable. Though I could have enjoyed it even better if my tickets had not be changed. The upgrade was not an upgrade to me. Had big heads in front of me had to keep switching from side to side to get the view. Thank goodness the music was upbeat and kept us very happy and entertained listening to this great music. Loved the costumes.

  • Beautiful show! Amazing!!!!

by Christy on 10/11/21Duke Energy Center for the Arts - Mahaffey Theater - St PetersburgRating: 4 out of 5

The musicians were amazing! The dancers were amazing!!!!! The MaHaffey venue is always so nice! Being required to wear masks during the entire show and not be allowed to have drinks during the show because of masks is ridiculous. So with this requirement, we would not attend another Bernice show until they stop mandating it for patrons.

  • Great Concert

by Barbara S. on 10/5/21Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

This Benise concert was amazing. The music was incredible, I love the Spanish guitar! The dancers were full of energy and beautiful to watch. There was a sort of duel between the Drummer and the Percussionist after the intermission. It highlighted each performer's talent, and they were both very good.

  • NO the performance I paid for..very disapointed..the TUNE is

by Pati on 10/5/21Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 2 out of 5

SAME tune for all songs..BORING music and very monotone. Dancers DO their best (Cristina is the only good one). Background pics/stage are very beautiful. I wish the music would have acompany the back picture (bullfight=SPANISH music). NO We won't see it again..too expensive for a bad experience.

  • Could have been better

by Sam on 10/5/21Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 2 out of 5

The show started nicely. Dance was good. But drum was extremely loud. Made other instruments mellow. Didn’t meet my expectations.

  • Fred Kavli review

by Muy on 10/5/21Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 4 out of 5

The Fred Kavli theater is a wonderful venue for performances. The staff working the shows is the best. What could be improved is the wait time for a beverage purchases either alcoholic or non alcoholic. It should be a simple task to add a temporary bar area with more bartenders to speed service for the patrons.

  • Benise

by MusicLover on 10/4/21Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

First time seeing Spanish guitarist Benise at the Thousand Oaks Civic. It was in a word..superb. He went from fierce passionate to soft guitar playing as his flamenco dancers flew around the stage along with his musicians. It was truly a rare treat to see Roni Benise live. Really enjoyed his music inside the theatre bouncing off the walls!!

  • Great concert!

by Linda on 11/13/19Fred Kavli Theatre- B of A Performing Arts Center,Thousand Oaks - Thousand OaksRating: 5 out of 5

Benise was fabulous! His guitar playing is wonderful too. The set, dancers, costumes, music, were all great too. It is also so great that he takes the time after the show to sign CD's and take pictures. Definitely a magical evening!!

Very fun and entertaining. Benise brings you a taste of Latin music from many different countries of the world. Every member of his team is very talented including the violinist, the other 2 guitarists, the drummers, and the dancers. What a show!

Great music and dancing. Very energetic performance. Interactive with audience was fun. Good balance of show with more intimate/person moments. Would recommend to anyone. We had such a good time.

  • Not the same

by Joe on 10/29/19Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 1 out of 5

I follow Benise the last 20 years but his last concert was pathetic. Nothing new from the last two concerts that I saw in Las vegas, Riverside etc. I thought that I will see something new. This time I give credits to the Flamenco dancers more in the show. I think Benise should go back to basics when he started.

  • I've been a big fan of Spanish guitar for many decades.

by Akuhead Mumblecrust on 10/29/19Balboa Theatre - San DiegoRating: 3 out of 5

I've been a big fan of Spanish guitar for many decades. To start the concert with an annoying Led Zeppelin song was disappointing to say the least. They eventually got around to playing some of our favorites (Santa Barbara and Montserrat). The energy and crispness of the music seems to have faded. The dancers were excellent.

From the beginning of the investigation on how to purchase, I had apprehensions. I am pleased to say, Ticket Master built the site with the inexperienced user in mind. They made checking the seating at the venue, the purchase, and and "on -the-phone" seating pass, seamless. Thank you very much for a great experience...

  • venues- needs a bid of TLC

    by M. L. on 10/15/19Miami Dade County Auditorium - MiamiRating: 5 out of 5

The event was spectacular! The music, intense! A lot of feelings went into this production, I think. Costumes needed a bit more pazzaz and glitter...I did see Benise had glitter on them and it made it shine on the stage 🤩 Overall...waiting for 2020 🥰
