About

All the world's a stage, and the Spanish guitar is one of its greatest instruments. Benise is bringing his Flamenco-inspired pieces and tango-infused dance numbers to the stage, leaving all who hear him spellbound in his wake. Benise is a world-renowned guitarist who has brought his unique blend of Spanish guitar and world music to stages worldwide since the early 2000s. His 2022 tour, aptly named the "20th Anniversary Tour," showcases the best of Benise throughout the years by virtue of music and dance.

His passion for the guitar has taken him on an incredible journey from the streets of Omaha to busking in Southern California and finally to the world stage. Known as "The Prince of Spanish Guitar," Benise has been wowing audiences worldwide with his sizzling music and spellbinding dance for over two decades, rocking fans across the globe with his sultry blend of Spanish guitar and world rhythms, winning the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.

The result: a mesmerizing feast of sight and sound from which no audience member will ever want to escape. Benise has truly mastered an international style of music having been influenced by nearly every genre possible, with great depth and passion vibrating underneath.

Growing up on a farm in Nebraska, his devotion to rock music was palpable. That success was just a twinkle in Benise's eye before finally picking up flamenco music in 1994. From there, he met violinist Jim Sitterly, guitarists Gilberto Gonzales and Yussi, bassist Mychal Lomas, drummer Carlos Lopez, and percussionist CG Ryche and formed a band (also) called Benise.

Benise's sound is primarily influenced by flamenco music and incorporates elements spanning Brazilian samba, Cuban salsa, Parisian waltz, African drumming, and more. The magic happens by bringing together musicians from different countries to create a unique sound that melds their cultures through music.

A significant turning point in Benise's career came when PBS approached him to create a show for its "Great Performances'' series. He spent time writing and recording what would become "Nights of Fire!" -- which made its broadcast debut on public television stations nationwide in 2006 and subsequently won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety or Music Program.

Since its debut, "Nights of Fire!" has drawn in audiences of all types -- whether or not they have any familiarity with flamenco music. Dazzling lights, dancers and aerial performers make you feel like you're experiencing something transcendent rather than just listening to a concert.

Benise's ability to reproduce sounds from around the world makes him a force of nature. His original style has earned him worldwide recognition, while he continues to push the envelope. Don't miss out on this unique spellbinding performance and see Benise live when he comes to a city near you.

  • Muy Fantastico!!!

by Vee on 9/30/19Bob Hope Theatre - StocktonRating: 4 out of 5

The Benise show was fantastic! The sound wasn't too loud; sometimes it is so loud you can't hear the vocals! The lighting spotlights were a bit off queue, they were too slow to pinpoint the highlighted artists. The only way I heard about the show was from an email I received from The Fox. I never heard anything on the radio about it, nor did I see anything in the paper (although I only receive Friday through Sunday paper, still... I did not see anything in the paper except for one week before the show. A show as great as this deserves advertising!!! It was a bit disappointing to see how many empty seats there were, but it DID allow us to spend more time meeting the artists at the end of the show! The Fox is a FANTASTIC venue; I've been going to shows there for over 50 years and always rave to people what a wonderful place it is to see a show!

  • Enchanting

by Mark T on 9/30/19Bob Hope Theatre - StocktonRating: 5 out of 5

We’ve seen Benise twice now and continue to be impressed by his passion for music and humbleness. After each show we have been able to speak with him and take a family for picture.

  • Benise is fantastic!

  • Benise @ Kiva Auditorium

by Orchid Lady on 9/24/19Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - AlbuquerqueRating: 5 out of 5

Every Benise concert is amazing! I love to see him and all the performers - the music and dancing are magical! However, the Kiva did nothing to promote this event, so the audience was only a small handful of what the auditorium could hold. It was so sad to see an empty venue for any performance. I have seen 2 sold-out concerts of his at Popejoy Hall, so I hope he plans to return there in the future. This was a terrible disappointment for my mother and me. We will continue to attend every performance he has in Albuquerque, I just hope he comes back after this sad display.

I wish them much continued success they are most deserving and thank you for the night of extreme entertainment. Salutations Mr. Benise for a well presented show. Good luck to you Sir!!

  • Benise and dancers: excellent. North Bergen PAC: disgusting

by Mayté on 3/30/19Bergen Performing Arts Center - EnglewoodRating: 4 out of 5

I tried concentre in the show, because the theatre is disgusting. That was surprise to me because Englewood is one of the richest neighborhoods in the state. It is a shame that they have such a neglected theater.

  • Fuego=Spanish for Fire

by MeronAngelo on 3/30/19Bergen Performing Arts Center - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

Never yell fire in a theater, but Fuego means fire in Spanish and best describes the Benise Performance at The Bergen PAC. The musical and dance show was a fusion of Cuban salsa, Argentine tango and Brazilian samba mixed with African rhythms and Rock ’N Roll. Roni Benise’s Spanish guitar playing was outstanding. His other band members are truly amazing. It was great time for all.

  • Better than expected.

  • Best Concert I Ever Saw!!!!

    by K. R. on 3/21/19Lincoln Theatre - ColumbusRating: 5 out of 5

Had VIP seats for 6; got to see the before show warm up and meet Benise; which was really COOL! We all want to see him again when he comes back to Columbus or some other place that is not too far to travel to. The Lincoln Theater was a great place for a concert; I do not like large Venue seating concerts; so this was perfect! The only complaint I heard were from other VIP people attending the concert. They did not know the details of the before the concert VIP Package and missed out on all of it. They said that no one sent them any details for it; I told them I had to search for it my self; because I did not want to miss out on any of it; and I did find it on the web site, so we all were able to go early enough so we could attend it. That would be my only suggestion; make sure people know what the details are when they get VIP tickets so they don't miss out on anything. But all and all we had a Fantastic time!

  • Great concert

by Mine7250 on 10/15/18The Mahaffey Theater - St PetersburgRating: 5 out of 5

This is our second time seeing Benise and once more he puts on a great show. The 2 hours plus concert flies. We thought the first time was because it was a novelty but it is the same feeling again. He introduced some new songs while still playing his old favorites. Great show and great music.

  • Benise

by RichNot on 10/14/18Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - AlbuquerqueRating: 1 out of 5

It was way too expensive and was not what I expected for the price.

  • Excellent show!!!

by Guitarlitos on 10/10/18Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - AlbuquerqueRating: 4 out of 5

From the very first note played it was musically mesmerizing. The dancing was enchanting! All was very well displayed and timed.

  • Benise was great

by sofa47 on 10/9/18Kiva Auditorium at the Albuquerque Convention Center - AlbuquerqueRating: 3 out of 5

The show itself was good. However, it was sad that the cast was abbreviated. It was also sad that there is no out reach to the local flamenco dancer community. It would be great to have a local troop do some dancing as part of the show. That would also increase the number of tickets sold. The show may have been under attended because it was scheduled during balloon fiesta. The last time I went to see Benise at the Kiva as I recall the place was packed. When I logged on to get the "Best Seats" i thought I was getting them. But when we arrived a the venue there were lots and lots of better seats that were empty. I suppose they could have all been purchased and the people just did not show up but it seems unlikely.
