About

All the world's a stage, and the Spanish guitar is one of its greatest instruments. Benise is bringing his Flamenco-inspired pieces and tango-infused dance numbers to the stage, leaving all who hear him spellbound in his wake. Benise is a world-renowned guitarist who has brought his unique blend of Spanish guitar and world music to stages worldwide since the early 2000s. His 2022 tour, aptly named the "20th Anniversary Tour," showcases the best of Benise throughout the years by virtue of music and dance.

His passion for the guitar has taken him on an incredible journey from the streets of Omaha to busking in Southern California and finally to the world stage. Known as "The Prince of Spanish Guitar," Benise has been wowing audiences worldwide with his sizzling music and spellbinding dance for over two decades, rocking fans across the globe with his sultry blend of Spanish guitar and world rhythms, winning the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.

The result: a mesmerizing feast of sight and sound from which no audience member will ever want to escape. Benise has truly mastered an international style of music having been influenced by nearly every genre possible, with great depth and passion vibrating underneath.

Growing up on a farm in Nebraska, his devotion to rock music was palpable. That success was just a twinkle in Benise's eye before finally picking up flamenco music in 1994. From there, he met violinist Jim Sitterly, guitarists Gilberto Gonzales and Yussi, bassist Mychal Lomas, drummer Carlos Lopez, and percussionist CG Ryche and formed a band (also) called Benise.

Benise's sound is primarily influenced by flamenco music and incorporates elements spanning Brazilian samba, Cuban salsa, Parisian waltz, African drumming, and more. The magic happens by bringing together musicians from different countries to create a unique sound that melds their cultures through music.

A significant turning point in Benise's career came when PBS approached him to create a show for its "Great Performances'' series. He spent time writing and recording what would become "Nights of Fire!" -- which made its broadcast debut on public television stations nationwide in 2006 and subsequently won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety or Music Program.

Since its debut, "Nights of Fire!" has drawn in audiences of all types -- whether or not they have any familiarity with flamenco music. Dazzling lights, dancers and aerial performers make you feel like you're experiencing something transcendent rather than just listening to a concert.

Benise's ability to reproduce sounds from around the world makes him a force of nature. His original style has earned him worldwide recognition, while he continues to push the envelope. Don't miss out on this unique spellbinding performance and see Benise live when he comes to a city near you.

An enjoyable evening of music, dancing and entertainment.

  • Benise WAS forgettable

by Jory1st on 10/5/10Chandler Center for the Arts - ChandlerRating: 3 out of 5

Although I might recommend this to a friend, it would be a qualified recommendation. The musicians, especially Benise and the violin player, were exceptional musicians - but the rest of the show was mediocre at best, and poor occassionally. The sets are minimal, the lighting unremarkable, and the costumes, while colorful, appeared cheap and obvious. And the dancing, which was an essential part of the evening, was sporadic, at best. The dancers appeared competent, but the choreographic was boring and repetative. The bottom line is, if you like Spanish Guitar, go see this...otherwise, maybe save your money, and buy a CD.

I don't know what I expected, but whatever I thought it.was exceeded to the nth. This concert/performasnce was incredible! The music, the dancing, the musicans, the energy expended could have fueled the energy needs of Chandler for a month. I have already told others to watch for a return of Benise to the Phoenix area.

  • HEAVENLY! BENISE-THE SPANISH GUITAR

by Jorrell on 10/5/10Chandler Center for the Arts - ChandlerRating: 5 out of 5

One word expresses this entire show including Benise, the dancers, the musicians, and the props - HEAVENLY! I've not seen a show this intriguing and I have attended myriads of music/dance performances. Benise plays guitar fluently with unmatched skill and an effervescent energy that is serene, yet friendly. He dances about the stage with an irresistable smile while playing guitar to ensure that all viewers see him from all angles. Benise, his musicians and dancers are a showcase of astonishing talent, capturing cultural beauty in a variety of styles with every movement, every breath. He is heavenly! His musicians and dancers are heavenly! The cast held a meet and greet after the event which added a personal flair to the performance and an element of excitement for attendees.

  • BENISE was unforgettable!!

by MAR15 on 10/5/10Chandler Center for the Arts - ChandlerRating: 5 out of 5

My wife and I celebrated our 5th year anniversary. We had a great time at the concert. We love the way he interacts with the audience. We loved all the different rhythms he played, not just flamenco but a little bit of brazilian, tango, salsa, and romantic ballads. This is a great show for the entire family!

  • Benise Was Incredible as Always!

by SalC21 on 10/5/10Chandler Center for the Arts - ChandlerRating: 5 out of 5

I've seen Benise three times now and his show continues to entertain and to touch the heart. Everything from the music, costumes and choreography are top notch but it is the passion and sheer fun the cast brings to the stage that really affect the audience. Don't think twice about catching the show. No doubt you will be part of the "Benise Family" too!

  • More value than the ticket price!

by RonBaron on 10/5/10Chandler Center for the Arts - ChandlerRating: 4 out of 5

This performance far exceeded my expectations. To know that guys from the streets of California were 'found' and pulled together such an incredible experience to share with the public... well... that was a gift in and of itself. In addition the choreographers deserve a huge acknowledgement because it was seamless. The talent pool's weakest link was their only singer... and she was still good... I wouldn't take the show on cruises... I'd play Vegas or Ny or LA Think Bigger Guys... you deserve to share your talents with the world! Great Luck to you all.

by Tschuse on 10/3/10Club Nokia - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I knew Benise made beautiful music but the actual concert was perfect. The venue was the perfect size for his show, the show was beautifully balanced, the costumes colorful and exciting. The dancers very talented, the ambiance so upbeat and Benise with his guitar was devine.

  • Unbelievable Show (Will return)

by Tpelaez on 10/3/10Club Nokia - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

A guitar is like a woman, it's shape, it's voice, sexual, lovely, passionate. And only few people can bring out that distinctive sound from the depths of it's inner body. Benise is truly one of those few. The music, dancers, absolutely amazing.

  • Makes you want to get up and dance!!

by Muzakman on 10/3/10Club Nokia - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

Wonderful performance as always. Highly recommended. There were a couple of instances where it was too obivous he was not playing and it was a track. Since I came to hear him play as well as the performance overall, I kind of had that feeling when a singer is lipsyncing during those parts. But still...Well worth the money! I ready to go again!!

  • Benise's smoke and mirrors

    by Counselor39 on 10/3/10Club Nokia - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

Ok, let's get one thing straight... This was a very entertaining show. The Good: 1. The dancers were THEE most beautiful I've ever seen, and they knew how to dance. 2. The songs themselves were upbeat and LOTS of fun. 3. The Venue was intimate - great place to catch a show; not a bad seat in the house. 4. VERY impressed that he posed for photos throughout the show...he remembers his roots and treasures the audience. 5. The production was FIRST rate. The BAD: Benise is a showman, but not a very good guitar player; the drummer sucked (but the violin player was GREAT)
