About

All the world's a stage, and the Spanish guitar is one of its greatest instruments. Benise is bringing his Flamenco-inspired pieces and tango-infused dance numbers to the stage, leaving all who hear him spellbound in his wake. Benise is a world-renowned guitarist who has brought his unique blend of Spanish guitar and world music to stages worldwide since the early 2000s. His 2022 tour, aptly named the "20th Anniversary Tour," showcases the best of Benise throughout the years by virtue of music and dance.

His passion for the guitar has taken him on an incredible journey from the streets of Omaha to busking in Southern California and finally to the world stage. Known as "The Prince of Spanish Guitar," Benise has been wowing audiences worldwide with his sizzling music and spellbinding dance for over two decades, rocking fans across the globe with his sultry blend of Spanish guitar and world rhythms, winning the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.

The result: a mesmerizing feast of sight and sound from which no audience member will ever want to escape. Benise has truly mastered an international style of music having been influenced by nearly every genre possible, with great depth and passion vibrating underneath.

Growing up on a farm in Nebraska, his devotion to rock music was palpable. That success was just a twinkle in Benise's eye before finally picking up flamenco music in 1994. From there, he met violinist Jim Sitterly, guitarists Gilberto Gonzales and Yussi, bassist Mychal Lomas, drummer Carlos Lopez, and percussionist CG Ryche and formed a band (also) called Benise.

Benise's sound is primarily influenced by flamenco music and incorporates elements spanning Brazilian samba, Cuban salsa, Parisian waltz, African drumming, and more. The magic happens by bringing together musicians from different countries to create a unique sound that melds their cultures through music.

A significant turning point in Benise's career came when PBS approached him to create a show for its "Great Performances'' series. He spent time writing and recording what would become "Nights of Fire!" -- which made its broadcast debut on public television stations nationwide in 2006 and subsequently won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety or Music Program.

Since its debut, "Nights of Fire!" has drawn in audiences of all types -- whether or not they have any familiarity with flamenco music. Dazzling lights, dancers and aerial performers make you feel like you're experiencing something transcendent rather than just listening to a concert.

Benise's ability to reproduce sounds from around the world makes him a force of nature. His original style has earned him worldwide recognition, while he continues to push the envelope. Don't miss out on this unique spellbinding performance and see Benise live when he comes to a city near you.

  • Awesome show...!

Benise's Spanish Guitar show was fabulous! Intimate, artistic, exciting, and passionate - the music was amazing and the dancing and dancers were fantastic. The thing I like about Benise's is that his shows are not all about him - the acts showcase all of his crew's talents: musicians, singers, dancers, and of course his amazi g Flamenco guitar playing. And the venue was the BEST - right in the heart of the San Francisco Marina District, with free parking and a very small and comfortable setting. I highly recommend it!

  • Benise was absolutely incredible!!!!

by Leslie41762 on 9/19/10Palace of Fine Arts - San FranciscoRating: 5 out of 5

The first time I say him was on KQED and wanted to see more so I went to see Nights of Fire. It was amazing!!!! He literally takes you on a journey to wonderful places with beautiful music, costumes, dancing and a feeling of romance. Just awhile back, I was watching KQED again. I went online to see if he would be playing in my area, and low and behold he would be in San Francisco. I called a friend of mine who had never seen Benise before, and next thing you know I had tickets for The Spanish Guitar at the Palace of Fine Arts. I was every bit as awed with this performance as I was with Nights of Fire! I highly recommend seeing this group of performers.

I expected the genuine spanish dinner, but it turned out to be a California fusion of several different flavored fastfood. Its ok, just not my taste.

  • Benise unplugged!

by littlebirds on 4/30/10Coach House - Capistrano - San Juan CapistranoRating: 4 out of 5

This concert was very intimate ~ being held in a smaller venue, and also being 'unplugged', made it so much more personal. Benise even took requests! The flamenco dancers added lots of passion to the performance, and the band members stayed to sign autographs after the show. A very memorable evening!

I originally saw him play outside a bookstore in Santa Barbara, liked what I heard and purchased several CD's. I purchased 6 tickets for our friends and was only expecting what I saw in Santa Barbara. The show we saw on January 30th was absolutely amazing and words could not describe how fantastic the entire 40 man crew was. It was one of the very best shows I have ever seen. Would love to see him again at a concert. Again, the show went way beyond my wildest expectations. We had seats in the first row, which made it just that more exciting. Our friends from Santa Barbara and our other friends who flew down from Idaho, still talk about how great the show was.

Roni Benise plays the guitar so beautifully and his dancers and other band members make his shows fun to watch as he strums his magical fingers across the strings. He has a latin love for the music that he plays so well, and he's definately easy on the eyes. His show is entertaining for both men and women and colorful and clean for the kids to enjoy also. Thank you for coming to Riverside where you first began!

Once again, a fantastic presentation of music and motion. This was my second time seeing Benise in CA. His dancers are very talented, they had great energy and gave a great performance. Benise himself, was flawless as usual. Love the outfits, song selection and props! Last but not least, what an amazing band! Yussi the rhythm guitarist is as impressive as Benise himself and the violinist Karen Briggs is just awe inspiring. What a truly talented musician.

The dancing and costumes were spectacular. However, the music is what sets Benise apart from the crowd. He and his entourage explode with excitement and soothe with romantic melodies. This is entertainment at its finest!!!!

We traveled 300+ miles to see Benise and his amazing musicians and dancers perform at this venue. We had the opportunity to see Benise for New Years Eve 2008 and gained a further appreciation for his heart warming musical talent. We were already fans but seeing him live takes it to a whole other level. We continue to promote his music and performances amongst all of our family and friends. Everyone that we have introduced Benise to has been in awe that they had never heard of him before. We can't wait for the opportunity to see him live again soon. Also, we are looking forward to watcing his upcoming PBS special set to air in March 2010.

This was our first Benise show, but definately not the last! The music was upbeat and the the show was fantastic. It is no wonder that everyone sitting around me has been to numerous shows and even the cruises. If you like Gypsy Kings and Nova Menco, you will LOVE Benise!! And the Fox Theater is a great, intimate venue. Looking forward to more shows there, and more Benise concerts.

Benise and the cast topped themselves with this production. I wasn't sure that any production could be better than "Cuba", but this one was absolutely fantastic. The energy and the costumes, not to mention the fabulous music proves that Benise concerts should not be missed!
