About
All the world's a stage, and the Spanish guitar is one of its greatest instruments. Benise is bringing his Flamenco-inspired pieces and tango-infused dance numbers to the stage, leaving all who hear him spellbound in his wake. Benise is a world-renowned guitarist who has brought his unique blend of Spanish guitar and world music to stages worldwide since the early 2000s. His 2022 tour, aptly named the "20th Anniversary Tour," showcases the best of Benise throughout the years by virtue of music and dance.
His passion for the guitar has taken him on an incredible journey from the streets of Omaha to busking in Southern California and finally to the world stage. Known as "The Prince of Spanish Guitar," Benise has been wowing audiences worldwide with his sizzling music and spellbinding dance for over two decades, rocking fans across the globe with his sultry blend of Spanish guitar and world rhythms, winning the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.
The result: a mesmerizing feast of sight and sound from which no audience member will ever want to escape. Benise has truly mastered an international style of music having been influenced by nearly every genre possible, with great depth and passion vibrating underneath.
Growing up on a farm in Nebraska, his devotion to rock music was palpable. That success was just a twinkle in Benise's eye before finally picking up flamenco music in 1994. From there, he met violinist Jim Sitterly, guitarists Gilberto Gonzales and Yussi, bassist Mychal Lomas, drummer Carlos Lopez, and percussionist CG Ryche and formed a band (also) called Benise.
Benise's sound is primarily influenced by flamenco music and incorporates elements spanning Brazilian samba, Cuban salsa, Parisian waltz, African drumming, and more. The magic happens by bringing together musicians from different countries to create a unique sound that melds their cultures through music.
A significant turning point in Benise's career came when PBS approached him to create a show for its "Great Performances'' series. He spent time writing and recording what would become "Nights of Fire!" -- which made its broadcast debut on public television stations nationwide in 2006 and subsequently won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety or Music Program.
Since its debut, "Nights of Fire!" has drawn in audiences of all types -- whether or not they have any familiarity with flamenco music. Dazzling lights, dancers and aerial performers make you feel like you're experiencing something transcendent rather than just listening to a concert.
Benise's ability to reproduce sounds from around the world makes him a force of nature. His original style has earned him worldwide recognition, while he continues to push the envelope. Don't miss out on this unique spellbinding performance and see Benise live when he comes to a city near you.

Benise at Plaza in EP!
by GMF2961 on 10/17/10The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 4 out of 5I first saw Benise on PBS and was facinated with his show. I really enjoyed his show on PBS and found it very entertaining. As soon a I found out he would be coming to the Plaza I purchased tickets for myself and my Mother. I enjoyed the entire show but if i had to pick my favorite part was the exchange, (sort of duel) back and forth with the guitar and the flamenco dancer. I also really enjoyed the opening and closing numbers. I was also pleasantly suprised to learn that most everybody who attended (approx 85-90%) of the people had never seen Benise before. It was nice to see that so many people were willing to attend considering they hasnt seen him before. All in all my Mother and I found the Performance entertaining and enjoyable. Something for all the family.
Great show
by Anonymous on 10/9/10The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5Like a Las Vegas show only much better. Benise and the other musicians were all top performers. The dancers were beautiful, talented, and their choreography was amazing. Vocals were excellent. The Plaza is a small theater (<2000) so every seat was great.
Benise is utter perfection!
by Anonymous on 10/9/10Club Nokia - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5If you love the Spanish guitar and Spanish dancing done with creative power, this is the show for you. Evey second of he performance is electric!
Benise was amazing!
by Anonymous on 10/9/10The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5I had never previously heard of Benise but wanted to experience the Plaza; show started 10 minutes late but was worth every bit of the wait. The show was coordinated well to tell the story of Benise which I was hearing for the first time...I was amazed to learn that they started by playing on the street ten yrs ago! The costumes were beautiful and the dancers mesmerizing...but the musicians were fabulous - spanish guitarists, violinist, percussionist, and vocalist were all top notch. It would have been nice to have had a program for a souvenir. I am seriously considering the cruise which they are sponsoring Cinqo de Mayo to Nassau
Benise: THE QUINTESSENTIAL ENTERTAINER
by loyalgent on 10/9/10The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5Benise is the "quintessential entertainer" for his multi-varied take on music. The latin, hindu, european and african touches he brought to his program enchanted everyone in the auditorium. He really epitomizes his creed of Music, Love and Life. This was more than a musical presentation. It was a spiritual experience that I'm sure will resound within the hearts of everyone who attended. I pray that Benise will return to El Paso again and again.

by Nick123456789 on 10/7/10The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5Good entertainment. Benise is a great flamenco guitarist and the cast of about 20 put on a great show. The musicians were excellent and the dancers were hot! Who knew Benise is from Southern California?
EXPECTING MORE!
by JCT1973 on 10/7/10The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 3 out of 5The event was very entertaining! I was expecting alot more guitar solos from Benise and less automation. The other musicians and dancers were doing most of the entertaining. I feel the background music and the band members were covering up Benise's guitar playing.
outstanding performance
by gabedul on 10/7/10The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5Not enough words to describe such amazing performance.
Benise
by Carousel144 on 10/7/10The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 4 out of 5While the billing of this show as "The Latin Riverdance" was a bit of an exaggeration, it was still a fun experience. To be fair, the full show may have been too large for the Plaza Theatre stage and was, therefore, smaller. There were people and costumes on the flyer that were not in the show (Yanni's violinist, the fancier, colorful sequined outfits). All in all, we enjoyed the show as did the rest of the audience and would recommend it to others.
I'd see Benise again.
by mamagigi on 10/7/10The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 4 out of 5I would see Benise again. I was sitting toward the back of the Plaza Theater in El Paso. Next time I would spring for the better seats.
Really great!!!
by Juarez on 10/7/10The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center - El PasoRating: 5 out of 5Great dancers, great music team and of course Amazing Music by Benise. We discover his music in a Restaurant, we ask the owner about the name of the artist on the videos he's paying and he told us, is Benise, a talented guitar artist, since that moment we're just waiting the oportunity to see him live. Now we did me and my husband really enjoy the show and love his music.....!!!
Benise - The Spanish Guitar was Outstanding!!!
by kjkneo on 10/7/10Chandler Center for the Arts - ChandlerRating: 5 out of 5From the great music to the interaction with the audiance made the show a night to remember. Great dancing and costumes gave the show a flare, along with the stage back ground changes. Great solos from each member of the band and that great voice of the female vocalist was outstanding. Wish the show would have lasted longer maybe with some video interaction in the background would be great. Other wise I do not see any other way to improve the show.

BENISE-THE SPANISH GUITAR
by Qupid on 10/5/10Chandler Center for the Arts - ChandlerRating: 5 out of 5This was my first time to see Benise and I was very impressed. The band was fantasticly talented and the dancers were truely gifted. I would recommend this show to anyone who is a fan of great music and dance. I first heard about Benise on "Dancing with the Stars" when he was a guest performer. Now I have 3 of his CD's and 1 dvd. I will most likely add the dvd copy of "The Spanish Guitar" to my collection as well. That way I can relive this stunning performance again and again! I can't say enough how talented Benise is and his entire group of performers.
