About

All the world's a stage, and the Spanish guitar is one of its greatest instruments. Benise is bringing his Flamenco-inspired pieces and tango-infused dance numbers to the stage, leaving all who hear him spellbound in his wake. Benise is a world-renowned guitarist who has brought his unique blend of Spanish guitar and world music to stages worldwide since the early 2000s. His 2022 tour, aptly named the "20th Anniversary Tour," showcases the best of Benise throughout the years by virtue of music and dance.

His passion for the guitar has taken him on an incredible journey from the streets of Omaha to busking in Southern California and finally to the world stage. Known as "The Prince of Spanish Guitar," Benise has been wowing audiences worldwide with his sizzling music and spellbinding dance for over two decades, rocking fans across the globe with his sultry blend of Spanish guitar and world rhythms, winning the hearts of millions of fans worldwide.

The result: a mesmerizing feast of sight and sound from which no audience member will ever want to escape. Benise has truly mastered an international style of music having been influenced by nearly every genre possible, with great depth and passion vibrating underneath.

Growing up on a farm in Nebraska, his devotion to rock music was palpable. That success was just a twinkle in Benise's eye before finally picking up flamenco music in 1994. From there, he met violinist Jim Sitterly, guitarists Gilberto Gonzales and Yussi, bassist Mychal Lomas, drummer Carlos Lopez, and percussionist CG Ryche and formed a band (also) called Benise.

Benise's sound is primarily influenced by flamenco music and incorporates elements spanning Brazilian samba, Cuban salsa, Parisian waltz, African drumming, and more. The magic happens by bringing together musicians from different countries to create a unique sound that melds their cultures through music.

A significant turning point in Benise's career came when PBS approached him to create a show for its "Great Performances'' series. He spent time writing and recording what would become "Nights of Fire!" -- which made its broadcast debut on public television stations nationwide in 2006 and subsequently won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Variety or Music Program.

Since its debut, "Nights of Fire!" has drawn in audiences of all types -- whether or not they have any familiarity with flamenco music. Dazzling lights, dancers and aerial performers make you feel like you're experiencing something transcendent rather than just listening to a concert.

Benise's ability to reproduce sounds from around the world makes him a force of nature. His original style has earned him worldwide recognition, while he continues to push the envelope. Don't miss out on this unique spellbinding performance and see Benise live when he comes to a city near you.

Really enjoyed the evening. The music was great and I had never seen live dancing like that and it was really enjoyable. All of the musicians were just top notch. When they come back I will return.

  • Benise was outstanding

by Giovinazzo on 11/17/10BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

The Benise show was phenomenal. My husband and I purchased the tickets for this show when we saw his performance on TV over the Summer. I saw him perform on Dancing with the Stars last season too. Well, we were blown away with the excellent performers, dancers musicians and most of all, Benise. He welcomed the audience to the Benise family. You could feel it in your heart the love and passion he has for the guitar. I loved the fact that he also danced to some of the music and came out to the crowd. We also loved the violenist. She performed with Yanni a couple of years ago. We would love to see him again in the future. I also loved the collection of music and dancing expressed from different parts of the world. Thank you for giving the fans this wonderful experience. We wish Benise and his amazing crew much luck and look forward to future events.

  • simultaneously entertsining and disappointing

by Harrowlane on 11/16/10BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - EnglewoodRating: 2 out of 5

Overall we enjoyed the show ...it was colorful and entertaining but disappointing with the extensive use of pre-recorded music. I had expected to see authentic Spanish guitar and instead Benise was busy prancing around the stage and it was obvious that he was not really playing so I have no idea of his musical capability.

  • Benise - Great guitar and flute

Not polished like a broadway show, but lots of talent.

  • Benise and his group were phenomenal.

by Dowjones on 11/16/10BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

Benise started out as a street singer in LA. Some of his artists came along in the street. National Public Broadcasting discovered him, and the rest is history. He plays Spanish guitar. The music includes Brazilian, Cuban, African and other rhythmic numbers. It was hard to sit in my seat instead of dancing in the aisle. His accompanying talent is extraordinary. I have not seen a percussionist as amazing as his. He plays the Brazilian drum, congas and lots of others as almost a one man band. The violinist is phenomenal and the other string players are excellent, too. The dancers are beautiful, sexy and talented. His powerful singer complemented the group. In the lobby of the theater, cds and discs of the evenings performance were on sale. Four of the artists sat at a table providing autographs. It was difficult to exit the theater because the line for purchases was so long. I will try to see him whenever he is my metropolitan area. Don't miss them!

  • A lovely experience

Benise's spanish guitar is just beautiful. When you add to that the amazing musicians (especially the violinist), the dancers and the carefully selected musical numbers - the result is a truly enjoyable experience!

  • Benise was INCREDIBLE

by RonMM on 11/16/10BERGEN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER - EnglewoodRating: 5 out of 5

I had been waiting a long time for Benise to come to the area and it was definitely worth the wait. Benise and his entourage were nothing short of spectacular. His guitar playing was phenomenal, his bandmates were also incredible.. The violinist was quite amazing. And how about those dancers WOW. Not only did they light up the stage with their dancing prowess, they were all quite beautiful/handsome. I would recommend this to anyone. From young to old the show was enjoyed by all.

  • Roni Benise: A Musical Trip!

by Cano1 on 11/14/10St. George Theatre - Staten IslandRating: 4 out of 5

It was much better than expected. We found the production value pretty high compared to the admission cost and wondered how they could possibly have covered their expenses because of the low turnout. There were maybe two hundred people there and the average ticket was $50. The second half was much better visually although I enjoyed the Majorca and Andalusian flavor of the first half. The musical journey from the South of Spain to the Caribbean and Brazilian sounds and the accompanying dancing and wardrobe styling made this concert experience most enjoyable and memorable. The Spanish guitar sounds which I personally enjoy was more predominant in the half but the second half's unexpected richness didn't detract from this.

  • Great show!!!!

Wonderful show. Loved the music as well as the dance.

  • Benise was disappointing.

If you like a big show with lots of extras and eye candy, this show is for you. But if you are a musician who wants to see all the instruments played LIVE and nothing prerecorded, than you'll want to skip this show. I wouldn't have minded so much if I had only paid 20 bucks, but for $78 dollars a seat, I expected more playing talent and less hype. I didn't go to this show to see Benise off on the sidelines picking here and there or not even playing at all and just dancing around the stage. I saw Benise on PBS about 4 months ago, and the show I just saw was exactly the same show I saw on TV. I thought it would be better live, but I was quite mistaken. Bottom line, watch the prerecorded show on TV and save yourself the ticket money.

Outstanding performance; has outstanding ensemble of performers in his show; violinist who used to perform with Yanni is the best.

  • Benise, great!

We saw him in 2009 at the Broward Center, we saw him this year at the Broward Center and assuming that he comes back next year, we will go see him again. It's agreat show that is becoming better.

  • Benise is AWESOME!!!

by MissMorley on 11/6/10Ruth Eckerd Hall - ClearwaterRating: 5 out of 5

The high energy was infectious. What a performance, Benise is very personable & interacts so much with his audience.

  • by Anonymous on 11/6/10Ruth Eckerd Hall - ClearwaterRating: 4 out of 5

Enjoyed the show, but the prerecorded background music was entirely too loud. It drowned out the voices of the talented singers and took away from an otherwise enjoyable show.

  • Excellent Coreography

by Fedo on 11/6/10Ruth Eckerd Hall - ClearwaterRating: 4 out of 5

The show was very entertaining. The dancers and coreography were of the highest quality. Although Benise is a great entertainer I thought his guitar playing was precise but limited to very similar notes throughout the concert. His concierto de Aranjuez solo was not complete for my taste but the parts he played were good.
