Bend It Like Beckham: The Musical Tickets

My birthday guest slept through most of the show. I found myself nodding a few times. There was no hint of an East Indian theme during the advertising of the show and the poster. I felt surprised and deceived. My favourite character was Jewel's mother. The ending was the best -- wedding scene with the soccer girls. My guest enjoyed the drumming introduced at the very end. I was told the musical had nothing to do with the movie. Boring at best. The theatre was not handicap-friendly. NO escalators or elevators for the disabled. Again no warning.

The music, story and the cast was great. However the sound was very poor. The ensemble numbers were fine but the solos sounded echo-y and nasally. Not sure if it was an issue with their mics. I felt bad for the actors and it was actually annoying.

The movie held a special place in my heart but the show was even better. Characters brought to life and family cultures explored amidst bright colours and engaging music!...Innovated scene changes and wonderful scenes especially the wedding! Just gorgeous! Great soccer moves and singing from all. Great.show!

A wonderful musical filled with tears and laughter. Great music. Enjoyed every minute.
