A GOOOAL for Bendham It Like Beckham the Musical

by C.T on 1/8/20Bluma Appel Theatre at St Lawrence Centre - Toronto

We thoroughly enjoyed the Bend It Like Beckham Musical! It was just as fun and full of laughs as the movie. The music didn’t disappoint. The words in the songs made the themes of immigration and racism very clear. I was hoping to experience some upbeat Indian music and there was one particular ensemble piece that was totally fun and the ending with the live drums was an added bonus. The same theme as the movie was also part of the musical with the additional theme of love (that song was done three times a bit much) between mothers and daughters (family), between friends and lovers. It nicely tied the whole musical together. The story line was changed in parts to convey a more updated version although the setting was still 2001 which was fun. My MIL who did not know the story nor had seen the movie enjoyed every part of it as well. The actors who played Jaz and Pinky really looked like the movie stars who played the same roles so that was a nice touch. The only negative was the sound system at the theatre. Jaz’s microphone especially was thin and sounded tinny. But other than that, I would highly recommend this musical to anyone! Go see it with your daughter, with your family, with your friends...it won’t disappoint.

    Took my teenage daughter

by Mom of a 15yr old soccer player on 1/8/20Bluma Appel Theatre at St Lawrence Centre - Toronto

It started late. Music and costumes were lovely. Difficult to do soccer moves on a stage but a good story.

    Great show!

by Mike on 1/6/20Bluma Appel Theatre at St Lawrence Centre - Toronto

Four of us attended Bend it Like Beckham. This included my 19 year old daughter and my wife -- who along with me were big fans of the movie when it came out. My sister who has never seen the movie also attended. Each of us had smiles on our faces throughout the performance because of the quality of the music, the dance and the acting. It is definitely a reaffirming show that has everyone leaving on a high note.

    Hilarious and moving

by Suvendrini on 1/3/20Bluma Appel Theatre at St Lawrence Centre - Toronto

This show features great acting and choreography and a moving story about important conflicts that can divide families. It has great impact across the generations. Would be five stars if the music had been a bit more authentically reflective of South Asian Immgrant beats.

If you love the movie you will love the show. Captures every moment from the movie with song and dance! Really enjoyed it! Not a crazy production but the actors and actresses make up for it.

    Amazing Dancing

    by C. R. on 12/27/19

Seeing dancing from choreographer of Sochi Olympics and the choreographer of Slum Dog Millionaire and then have it paired with the emotional and feel good experience of Bend It Like Beckham is what makes this show. It's the perfect family show and a show every young woman needs to see. Don't miss it!

Great to see how they adapted the movie

by Krista on 12/22/19Bluma Appel Theatre at St Lawrence Centre - Toronto

The music overpowered at times where I could not hear what the actors were saying. Some of the mic’s were bad and the causes some actors to sound muffled and I was in the fourth row.
