About

Ben Folds is widely regarded as one of the major music influencers of our generation.

He's created an enormous body of genre-bending music that includes pop albums with Ben Folds Five, multiple solo albums, and numerous collaborative records. His last album was a blend of pop songs and his Concerto for Piano and Orchestra that soared to #1 on both the Billboard classical and classical crossover charts.

For over a decade he's performed with some of the world's greatest symphony orchestras, and currently serves as the first ever Artistic Advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center.

Folds released his first book - a collection of interrelated essays, anecdotes and lessons about art, life and music - in 2019, which debuted as a New York Times Best Seller, and is currently hosting a podcast series spinoff of his book entitled "Lightning Bugs: Conversations with Ben Folds." In addition to solo rock and orchestral touring, he's also developing a new unscripted tv series with Fred Rogers Productions, continues to appear in various film/tv guest starring roles, and is working on two new albums.

An avid photographer, Folds is also a member of the prestigious Sony Artisans of Imagery, has worked as an assignment photo editor for National Geographic, and was featured in a mini-documentary by the Kennedy Center's Digital Project on his photographic work.

An outspoken champion for arts education and music therapy funding in our nation's public schools, has served for over five years as an active member of the distinguished Artist Committee of Americans For The Arts (AFTA), and serves on the Board of AFTA's Arts Action Fund. He also served as Chairman of the Arts Action Fund's ArtsVote2020 national initiative that encouraged voter engagement in the 2020 US elections, and continually advocates for improving public policies for the arts and arts education.

Looove Ben Folds, but he ended the show at 9:15?! DisappointIng to say the least. Felt like he had somewhere else to be. I’ve seen him probably 6+ times, that was probably my last sadly

  • Great show!

by Otis on 4/29/23Tennessee Theatre - KnoxvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Ben played a mix of his new stuff along with older classics including several Five songs. It was a very entertaining show with a lot of interaction with the audience. A good night!

  • Definitely Different

Ben Folds is a great storyteller and a really good pianist. I really enjoyed the show. Didn’t know what to expect. Would see him again.

I’ve seen Ben Folds / Ben Folds Five more times than I can even remember. He is stellar. His set list was amazing and his love of playing music with or without the symphony shows through! Ben is also a great storyteller and I always walk away learning something new. Don’t miss him playing!!

  • Better than we anticipated!

by Peacocky D on 4/26/23Atlanta Symphony Hall - AtlantaRating: 5 out of 5

What a musical performance & musician! His lyrics are creative yet heartfelt and his arrangements invite us on a beautiful and intimate tour through an extensive range of emotions which leaves us simultaneously wanting more yet completely satisfied to his very. last. note. The ASO was a perfect complement to his performance. We knew it would be good but this concert exceeded our expectations.

  • You Don't Know Me

by Beak on 3/29/23Five Flags Center - DubuqueRating: 5 out of 5

Fabulous show! Ben Folds is a musical genius. His piano skills were amazing, and he definitely entertained the audience with humor and wit. I would love to see him perform again.

  • BEN FOLDS IN RED BANK NJ

by DOB on 9/14/22Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

Incredible show and venue. Tickermaster was easy to use...as usual. My only complaint is that we didnt get a hard ticket. My son collects them.

  • Ben Folds was on fire tonight!

by MarkM on 9/6/22Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

Played everything I could have asked for (except Brick and Selfless, Cold and Composed) with some outstanding audience participation, especially on You Don't Know Me. A very enjoyable evening.

We had great seats, so I really appreciated watching his piano playing. My wife was less impressed and thinks he is an acquired taste. I loved it.

Ben Folds interaction with the audience is always special. His catalogue of music never gets old, my entire loves Ben.

  • Overall disappointing show

by A.C. on 9/5/22Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 2 out of 5

Good show, but I was expecting more. He didn't play his biggest hit, Brick, inexplicably. Another radio hit, Battle of Who Could Care Less, was also left off the set list. He also did not have a band with him, which takes a lot off of his performance. His music is very powerful when surrounded by bass and drums. With just him and the piano, it's a different type of vibe and the music doesn't translate as strong.

  • Intimate perfection

by Michael on 9/5/22Hackensack Meridian Health Theatre at the Count Basie Center - Red BankRating: 5 out of 5

A great evening of great music. Seeing Ben in a small setting with only a piano gives a perfect interpretation to his songs.

  • Amazing

Best musician of our generation ❤️ Engaging, fun, and rocks the bell out of that piano!

  • Shortest Show I've Ever Attended

by iix on 6/30/22Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 2 out of 5

Ben took the stage 15 minutes late (8:15 PM) and played for 75 minutes. We were walking out of the venue at 9:30 PM. Due to the short length of the show we could have easily have driven home. We felt like we has wasted $140 on a hotel room. There was nothing open at 9:30 PM in Nashville, Indiana on a Sunday so we drove 30 minutes (one way) to get carryout pizza. I was in disbelief the show was over. Ben made a comment that the tour had been depressing but we were happy and cheering when he came out. He's a great musician but he apparently wasn't too excited to be there. I will never go back to Nashville, Indiana for a show and won't be buying Ben Folds tickets again. So many great Ben Folds Five songs that were not played. Enjoyed hearing Annie Waits, Still Fighting It, Effington, Evaporated, Cigarette, Kate, One Angry Dwarf, and Army. Wish we could have got a few from these songs they didn't play; Battle of Who Could Care Less, Song for the Dumped, Smoke, Missing the War, Steven's Last Night, Rockin' the Suburbs, Underground. An hour and fifteen minutes is a joke. I'm glad we didn't spend money on fancy seats!

  • Always a great show

Ben Folds must be experienced live to be fully appreciated. He rocked the house at the Brown County Music Center. Loved the show.

  • My First Ben Concert!

by Smerp on 6/29/22Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 4 out of 5

First time I’ve ever seen Ben Folds before. He got on stage at 8:15, subtracting his performance time to 80 minutes. A little bit shorter than what I expected, and kinda lacking in energy but overall a great performance!

  • Wonderful!

by Sparker on 6/29/22Brown County Music Center - NashvilleRating: 5 out of 5

Ben was fantastic as always! Simple, about the music, & entertaining. Venue access was easy from parking to security. There is an areas to stand outside if you wanted to wait before the show started. Plenty of lines for beverages and some food if so desired. Restrooms were clean and bountiful.
