About

Ben Folds is widely regarded as one of the major music influencers of our generation.

He's created an enormous body of genre-bending music that includes pop albums with Ben Folds Five, multiple solo albums, and numerous collaborative records. His last album was a blend of pop songs and his Concerto for Piano and Orchestra that soared to #1 on both the Billboard classical and classical crossover charts.

For over a decade he's performed with some of the world's greatest symphony orchestras, and currently serves as the first ever Artistic Advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center.

Folds released his first book - a collection of interrelated essays, anecdotes and lessons about art, life and music - in 2019, which debuted as a New York Times Best Seller, and is currently hosting a podcast series spinoff of his book entitled "Lightning Bugs: Conversations with Ben Folds." In addition to solo rock and orchestral touring, he's also developing a new unscripted tv series with Fred Rogers Productions, continues to appear in various film/tv guest starring roles, and is working on two new albums.

An avid photographer, Folds is also a member of the prestigious Sony Artisans of Imagery, has worked as an assignment photo editor for National Geographic, and was featured in a mini-documentary by the Kennedy Center's Digital Project on his photographic work.

An outspoken champion for arts education and music therapy funding in our nation's public schools, has served for over five years as an active member of the distinguished Artist Committee of Americans For The Arts (AFTA), and serves on the Board of AFTA's Arts Action Fund. He also served as Chairman of the Arts Action Fund's ArtsVote2020 national initiative that encouraged voter engagement in the 2020 US elections, and continually advocates for improving public policies for the arts and arts education.

  • Awesome as ever!

by JE on 11/9/21Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

Ben's amazing! Just him and his piano for 2 hoyrs! Terrific! He's witty and fun and filled the entire room with thunderous sounds. It was a perfect re-entry to public venues. The process getting in deserves kudos too. Vaccine check was quick and orderly, and the staff was friendly. A fantastic Saturday night.

  • Awesome show, as always

by Lo on 11/9/21Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts - RaleighRating: 5 out of 5

This was the first time we had seen Ben Folds with just his piano, the other times were with various symphonies, and this "stripped down" version was so so so good!

  • Wonderful

So fantastic... Constantly exceeds my expectations

  • Fantastic Show

Ben Folds was phenomenal. He brings humor and fantastic musicianship to a solo show. I would highly suggest attending one of his concerts!

  • My experience?? Amazing venue, all the right energy and love

by Billyfan!! on 9/15/21Irving Plaza - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Fabulous song selection. Was a crazy but very well behaved audience. Was very happy to be with a vaccinated crowd- wouldn’t have come if not for that. Excellent night!!

  • So much from a piano!

by Michael on 9/15/21Irving Plaza - New YorkRating: 5 out of 5

Amazing night. It was a sing along with a group of like minded friends. Ben is engaging and amazing. One person and a piano who fills the space, minds, and heart.

  • Always a great experience!

Ben Folds is a spectacular performer and does great crowd work. This was my first time seeing him in person and he did not disappoint. I'm already looking forward to my next time seeing him.

Ben Folds was amazing as always. And Lynn Auditorium was the perfect small venue to see a show.

  • Absolutely Awesome

by Clyde on 9/13/21Lynn Auditorium - LynnRating: 5 out of 5

Took my wife and two teenagers (16 & 19) to the concert and we were all amazed by Ben's performance. I've always liked his music but never seen him in concert and now have a new appreciation for his work. Also, my kids are now huge fans. Also, the Lynn facility was very accommodating, comfortable, and clean, however; it needs some more beer options (like an IPA). :)

  • Amazing intimate COVID-friendly show

    by B on 9/13/21Lynn Auditorium - LynnRating: 5 out of 5

We were a bit surprised when the venue turned out to be in the cities town hall building, but the show was amazing and very intimate. We had to show proof of vaccination and ID upon entering and wear our masks the entire show. Ben put on an amazing show, per usual. I only wish the audience was a bit more upbeat, as we stayed in our seats the entire time.

  • Fantastic even

Easy to get in, seating was perfect, sound was amazing. Ben rocked it.

  • Fantastic live performance

    by Joe o. on 4/29/21Rating: 5 out of 5

Ben's rooftop concert at the pier in New York was the last show I saw before the covid pandemic shut everything down. I am so grateful even to this day and so thankful for one of the greatest musicians to be performing today. I still can close my eyes and remember being in that crowd singing along to all his greatest songs. He is a crowd-pleaser and possibly one of the greatest live performances I've been to. I've gone to Bonnaroo and seen metallica, I've been to the starlight ballroom in NJ and the electric factory in philadelphia, I've been to clubs in Chicago bars and massive concerts at PNC. But still, Ben Folds and whoever he plays with will always be my number one concert pick. He was one of my father's favorite musicians and I have been a fan for two decades now, more than half my life. I'm also incredibly grateful that my wife got to see him once in concert to know what I feel. I can't wait for him to tour again nearby.

  • Great concert, great venue

by Sarah on 11/30/19The Sylvee - MadisonRating: 5 out of 5

The Sylvee was a great venue and seeing Ben Folds here was fantastic.

  • Great show, horrible opening

by NickName on 10/27/19Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 4 out of 5

Ben is a highly talented musician and knows how to put on a great show! Unfortunately, the opening act really put a damper on the experience. Savannah Conley is either family or really knows how to suck someone off. There is absolutely no way she was given the opening position by her ability to perform. Ben still kicked ass though!

  • Amazing Show! Great Venue

by Enki on 10/27/19Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

Ben Folds as a solo performer was better than most large groups with all their bells and whistles. In combination with the intimate venue at Taft, it was easily the best concert I've ever attended!!!

  • Amazing!

by Laura on 10/27/19Taft Theatre - CincinnatiRating: 5 out of 5

First time at one of his concerts, and it was so fun! Loved the audience involvement and the candid talking about the song inspirations. Hope he returns to cincy again soon bc I will be there!!

  • Loved it!

It was the 1st time seeing Ben Folds and he didn’t disappoint. I sang along, laughed, had a blast.

The show was great! Ben was amazing, and his opener was cool, too. Great show!

Nothing about this concert disappointed. Great seats, great theater, amazing performances by the opening act and Ben Folds. This is the second time I’ve seen him, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. So talented!!!
