About

BECK IN CONCERT:

Alt-rock icon and master of reinvention Beck made a return to form of sorts in 2014 with Morning Phase, a companion album to 2002's beloved Sea Change. Eschewing the irony and sampling featured prominently in many of his other outings, Beck's latest is awash with earnest optimism and acoustic instrumentation — the result is a lush, organic, emotionally charged tour de force that comes across as beautifully in live concert as it does on record. Backed by a full band, Beck hits the road in 2014 for the Morning Phase tour, which includes a much-anticipated appearance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Beck moved to New York in 1989 and cut his teeth in the city's anti-folk scene before returning to Los Angeles in 1991. In 1993, his limited-release single "Loser" became a surprise college radio favorite, eventually growing into a mainstream Top 10 hit and garnering him a flood of label offers. Signing with Geffen Records, he released Mellow Gold in 1994, launching to both critical and commercial success virtually overnight. 1996 follow-up Odelay would prove even more successful, spawning three hit singles and taking home several Grammys, including Best Alternative Music Album. In the ensuing years, Beck's creativity and fearless experimentation have made him one of pop music's most idiosyncratic talents — the acclaimed 2014 release of Morning Phase, his twelfth studio album, proved that he's just as vital today as he was 20 years ago.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Beck was ridiculously amazing. If you get a chance to catch him live, do it while you can. He is a true showman and should not be missed."

"As usual Beck put on an amazing performance. He played a few songs from each album (including the reader), and he played every last one spectacularly."

"He plays a mix of his old & new material, both acoustic & electric, he breaks out the harmonica, then plays a cover of Billie Jean. What!?! I only wish it could have gone on all night long."

Beck live - there's nothing like it

by JoeVideo13 on 9/12/23Madison Square Garden - New York

Beck is a musical genius beyond compare. It's a shame more people aren't aware of him. His live shows are a lot of fun and his Summer Odyssey tour was no exception. He's phenomenal live and he surrounds himself with brilliant musicians. He set list is a mix of popular songs and a few obscure songs, which is always great. I'll see him every time he tours.

    Quite an odyssey

by Zack on 9/10/23Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

Beck and Phoenix took us on quite a sonic odyssey. Phoenix sounded so crisp on stage and despite being French interacted with the Bridgeport crowd. Beck, who I last saw 25 years ago at Jones beach, sounded just as good as ever. It was an experience I won’t forget.

    Nearly perfect

by Gail on 9/9/23Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

So Beck is as amazing as they come - he’s unique, creative, diverse and nearly the most perfect performer - the venue’s sound was just too loud.

Can't go Wrong w/ Beck, but...

by Al on 9/9/23Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

The sound was terrible. It's far too loud and unbalanced. It's been three days and my ears are still ringing. It was a very common complaint. I don't know enough about acoustics to say why the sound was terrible, but it really seemed to me the volume could have been lowered a lot - or at least enough to hear the artists sing,. Beck was otherwise fantastic.

Incredible show! I’ve been wanting to see Beck for 20+ years and this was the perfect venue to finally see him! Phoenix was also incredible! I’ve liked them as well, but I consider myself a fan now after that performance!

Too early for middle of the week!

by Don on 9/9/23Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

The double headlining bill of Phoenix AND Beck had me thinking that one of those acts would invariably fail. That did not happen. Both were in top notch form, and shared their stage setup brilliantly. The sound was quite muddy and I have heard this is the fault of the overhead fans but those fans were much needed Wednesday night. My real problem with the show was the insane start time on a "middle of the week"show. I felt bad for both Weyes Blood and Sir Chloe, whose sets almost nobody saw. I understand that the tour came as a package, but maybe book an act like that on a weekend? Based on the observed average age of the audience, I doubt many could get to the venue in time for All of the acts to perform. Save the early start times for the acts with a much younger fanbase that typically don't have jobs with healthy commutes.

    Beck Rocked!

by Spike377 on 9/9/23Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater - Bridgeport

Beck was phenomenal. Played everything I ever wanted to hear a dream come true I don’t know why everybody likes Phoenix so much I don’t really care for them at all the band that came on before them were horrible. The first band was really good sir Chloe. If I had known the concert had four bands and two of them were terrible. I would’ve changed my arrival time. I thought it was odd that the concert started at 5:45 PM I just figured maybe they’re going to just do an early show for whatever reason nothing could’ve been further from the truth. Beck didn’t even come on till 9:36 PM. Beck was amazing I love his songs and he played all his best. What else can you ask for?
