Excellent show! I just wish I could have sat closer; it was hard to focus the scenes that took place in the Castle because the lighting was dimmer. No fault of the cast, though--they were superb!!

Good show, would not reccomend taking younger children. There were a few scenes that my 6 year old closed her eyes for, but overall a good show. We can't stop talking about it.

I absolutely loved the colors as well as the cast of characters. I was also delighted to see how the 'cats' were incorporated to move the scenery about.

  • Exceptional Beautiful performance!

by eeyoremyfav on 12/1/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

I have to say this is high on my favorite broadway performances. I took one of my children for the first time to attend a Broadway musical and he was not disappointed. He is now very motivated to audition for a part in an upcoming school production. My entire family left feeling a great satisfaction in the performance and the ability of the performers. THANK YOU!

  • Beastly

    by Reviewer7986 on 11/30/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 2 out of 5

Was disapointed with this Disney producton! The pacing was slow, some of the costumes were off (Mrs. Potts... really?)... and it failed to grab my attention where previous productions have dazzled. Also, far too many crying kids during this afternoon performance! I have to say I was also disappointed they felt the need to make some of the costumes, dialogue, more suggestive... not appropriate for a young audience... and not expected with a Disney show!

  • Enchanting!

by TLSW on 11/30/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

This performancre was outstanding. The sets were beautiful; cast so very talented; story was delightful. This company matches every performance I've seen on Broadway!

  • Beauty and the Beast was well put together

We took our teenage daughter to see this musical because we always enjoyed the animated version. The choreography and the singing was very nice. We were even able to sing along and laugh with the characters.

  • Show was awesome! Audience not so much.

by MaybeItsMe on 11/30/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

The show itself was beautifully done! I went to the Saturday matinee. The actors who played Beast/Prince and Belle's father were the only two whose performances I would rate as just okay. The Beast/Prince's voice did not seem strong enough for the few songs he performed. Belle was just as you would expect her to be! Energetic, beautiful and with a very strong "Belle" voice. Gaston was excellent and LaFou's physical comedy was extraordinary! I hurt myself watching him perform some of his acrobatics. All in all, a great show! My only problem with the show was the audience. It may have been because it was a matinee, but unlikely since many of the children were very well behaved and acted as any young child would in a theater - enthusiastic! Some of the adult patrons, on the other hand were quite rude. I've never attended a theater where the doors opened SO often. And again, it was almost always an adult going in and out of the theater DURING the performance. I've never experienced that before and I've been to many shows outside of Tucson. Also, we sat next to an (adult) audience member who insisted on eating something out of a rustling plastic bag throughout the ENTIRE show. It was quite annoying.

The staging and costuming were truly wonderful. However, because we were seated in the last row of the balcony, we had a hard time hearing words to songs, etc.

Delightful and entertaining. Strong voices, beautiful music. 'Be Our Guest" song is the best!

  • Beauty and the Beast is a real treat!

by TucsonPama on 11/30/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

This was a great show but I came thinking that Tucson needs a new Music Hall. There were problems with the sound and the seating is old and outdated...very little rise in the orchestra seating makes it difficult to see. I would have enjoyed this show even more in a more modern venue.

  • Way Better then the Movie

    by jesusgirl2016 on 11/30/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

I loved the show! I have the movie memorized and have seen several student productions, but to see Beauty and the Beast live, with professional actors was AMAZING! The set, the costumes, the singing, I loved it all! Please go see it if you haven't!

  • Wonderful!

by kebdeb on 11/30/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

I can't tell you how much we enjoyed this performance. It was fabulous! The costumes, the scenery, the music, the actors, all were spot on. The story line followed the Disney animated movie to a T. I was surprised that the sound quality in the Tucson Music hall was as good as it was. Our seats were in a perfect location, row H, seats 27 &28, perfect! If you have a chance to see this performace I say go go go!

great show! too bad about the technical problems at the end. Fabulous acting. We loved it and would drive 1600 miles again to see it.

  • Beautiful and funny

by RisaKottabi on 11/29/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

I enjoyed Beauty and the Beast so much. It was amazing how all the scenes were created to use our imagination in such a beautiful way. We sat in the balcony, which was a little far for our 3 year old. But he loved the wolves and Beast so he still enjoyed it. The songs and acting were great and funny. We are going to make a point of going to as many Broadway shows as possible when they come to Tucson!

  • Bad night

by KKHSCO on 11/29/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 2 out of 5

I know it was just a bad night but we expect a bit more for the price of the ticket. The lead performer (Beast) was not there and the understudy sang well but there seemed to be times when the staging was not polished. Then, in the most important scene at the end, the curtain closed and we were told there was a technical problem. Several minutes later, they came back in another setting and continued awkwardly. The sets were lovely and the singing was ok. I guess from the beginning announcement that the lead was not there, we were looking for things wrong.
