  • Beauty and the Shrimp

At our matinee performance, The Beast was played by the understudy, Anthony Fett. Mr. Fett is a fine actor with a lovely voice, but he's quite short, and the Beast is supposed to be giant. The miscasting was at times distracting & comical to the adults in our group. However, the kids (ages 5 & 8) were enchanted by the entire show. Overall, it was a very enjoyable performance, with standout work turned in by the actors who played Gaston and Belle. Those who saw previous iterations in LA or NY might be disappointed, but I thought it was outstanding for a traveling production. Also thought the set design was very beautiful and very French.

  • Great voices, scenery, lights

    by Butch53 on 11/28/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

The show was great. The actors playing Belle and the Beast had great voices. The stage set was very innovative. The lighting and sound added the coup de grace for a perfect show. I took two children ages 9 and 11, and they were both talking about it days later.

  • An Enchanted evening with Beauty and the Beast

by JRaftis on 11/28/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

Seeing "Beauty and the Beast" on broadway has been a childhood dream of mine since I was 11 years old. 14 years later that dream finally came true. I missed the prior showings in Tucson because I was out of town and was in NYC when they showed it, but didn't have enough time to see it. Lo and Behold I see a commerical that and "Beauty and the Beast" was going to be in Tucson Thanksgiving week! This was my chance, now or never, go see it or live with regret. But would my childhood dream be less riveted being an adult going to see a broadway disney version musical? Absolutely not! The show was mesmerizing, enchanting and overall made me feel like a 11 year old girl going to see Beauty and the Beast for the first time. The scenic sets and designs transitioned throughout the show that brought a dynamic, imaginative and creative presence to the stage. The cast was full of spectacle, talent, and energy that the person from the back row could feel their passion. Each role was performed vividly and was strongly portrayed from Belle, Gaston, Beast to Lemuire and Mrs Potts to the townspeople and enchanted objects. They all filled the stage with wonder and excitement. A lot of people were hesitant because the role of the Beast was going to be played by the understudy, but we were not at all disapointed. He did a suberb job in his 2nd time portraying the lead and conveyed to the audience a character that slowly chipped away his anger and beastly side and became a loving, gentle spirit. The show took you back to the movie with the popular songs and scenes fondly remembered, but the show also added multiple scenes and new musical numbers that were greatly enjoyed. This was definately worth the money and everyone who enjoys Disney, musicals, and overall just a wonderful show should take a chance and go see it whenever possible! Don't wait 14 years like me!

  • Enjoyable, but...

I would recommend to bring binoculars if you sit in the balcony or else you'll just be there to enjoy the music and blurred facial expressions. For the most part, the songs and actors were wonderful and I would appreciated them a lot more with lower level seats.

  • Beauty and The Beast was exquisite.

It was both captivating and witty. Recommend to all ages.

  • It was nice but...

When belle was singing "little town, little quiet village..." her face was so serious and she was a little stiff when she danced. I can't help but to compare her with the Belle at Disney land. So gracious, very feminine and always smilling. I guess she wasn't able to portrait her role that much. On the positive side, she has a GREAT voice!! Loved it!! Instruments. The music would have been more grandious if there were more instruments.

  • Great family show

We took our 6 year old to see this musical. At the end she said, "I didn't like it. I REALLY liked it!" It was really well done with enough changes in the script and music to make it different from watching the movie. The costuming and staging was really well done. I wouldn't mind seeing the other Disney musicals after seeing how well this one was done.

Many female audience members came in their princess dresses.

We thoroughly enjoyed this show. The acting was superb, singing was even more superb, and the stage and sets were perfect. Thank you for bringing it to Tucson! (The music was a little loud at times, making it hard to hear the words to the songs, but this only happened on a few occasions.)

  • Beauty and the Beast Classic!

  • Family friendly

by Quackers on 11/26/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

The show was decent, but the bright and colorful sets and costumes are definitely geared toward a younger audience. It was overall a good and entertaining show, but nothing truly dazzling.

  • Beauty and the Best was great!

    by IDB16 on 11/26/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

This was an awesome musical full of wonderful songs and performances. The laughter and joy coming form the children in the audience made the experience all the more amazing and by the end you will feel like a child again and be filled with the magic that only Disney can create.

  • Was better in Los Angeles

by sago on 11/26/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 2 out of 5

Set designs were lacking; scene changes were simplified. I saw this play in LA when it first came out and it was one of the most elegant plays with elaborate costumes and set designs. This was not worth the money.

I had seen this show a few years ago, now watching it again with the updates. It was great.

  • Beauty & Beast

by ChillinGirl on 11/25/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 5 out of 5

The addition of the different songs were unique. They added a little different view of the movie. One of them was a little of what she was doing and she should not be singing at that time. The dress appeal was great and very colorful and bright. It seemed that most of the dancers were on beat as a group.

  • Beauty and the Beast Tucson AZ

by DianeTucson on 11/25/10Tucson Music Hall - TucsonRating: 4 out of 5

The production was fantastic. However the dancing scene with the beast and Bell was hurried and in too small a space. Dark sky backdropwas not appealing. That was the big moment of the play and it was underwhelming. Also the last scene with the bouquet of roses backdrop was UGLY. THe signature of the play is the rose with the petals dropping. ONE ROSE ONLY_NOT a hackneyed bouquet. That was quite underwhelming ending on a non-inspirational tone.
