BEAUTIFUL tells the inspiring true story of King’s remarkable rise to stardom, from being part of a hit songwriting team with her husband Gerry Goffin, to her relationship with fellow writers and best friends Cynthia Weil and Barry Mann, to becoming one of the most successful solo acts in popular music history. Along the way, she made more than BEAUTIFUL music, she wrote the soundtrack to a generation.
The music Carol and partner Gerry Goffin wrote won so many #1 hits and to have actors represent the stars who sang them was a great experience. This musical gives you the inside story of Carol and her friends who made the music of their time memorable.
This was a very emotional performance for me. The songs brought back so many memories from more difficult times in my young life as well as making me aware that Carole King had her problems, too. Such a beautiful soul ... such a shame husband #1 turned out to be such a wack job. The seventies were such a time of social evolution!
Great acting, music, dancing, and staging! The process with Ticket Center not so great. They didn’t upload my tickets until the day before the concert.
Amazing music and talented vocalists! Speaking parts easily understood which is not always the case on stage. Highly recommend!!
We are long time Carol King fans (as was everyone else in attendance). The show is wonderful. Her story is fun and the music is terrific. Very talented actors and actresses - super voices. The acoustics at Gammage also are incredible and there is easy access - once you find a parking place.
I've heard good things about Beautiful. I've been a big fan of Carole King since her Tapestry album came out in 1971. So I had high expectations for the performance. And Beautiful exceeded those by leaps and bounds. It was wonderful, joyful, and, yes, Beautiful. Kennedy Caughell as Carole King was perfect, the sound was amazing, the cast was inspiring. It was breathtaking.
You've got a friend...was sung at my sweet husbands funeral...i knew i had to go to this musical. It was such an awesome experience. The music took me to a happy place that made me feel my husband was there with me. Thank you for the magical music.
This musical is like a time machine! There and then becomes here and now by the power of timeless music. Of particular interest to those of us who grew up with her recorded music was the back-story and the glimpses into personal life - simply delightful! The 4 leads were all tremendous musicians. And the interplay between all of the live music and the background sound track was virtually seamless. Bravo!
The show Beautiful was excellent, however the parking at the ASU Gammage is horrible. The traffic and they way they funnel you in to the parking structures is ridiculous. This is the last time I will go to a show at that venue.
Music was outstanding. The technical range of the performers was pretty impressive. The show was entertaining , fast moving and done very well!
The music, the story, it was all incredible. Coming from that era of music, it was interesting learning about the folks behind all the great music. Would see many more times!

We love Carol King and her music but this was so much more than her incredible music. The costumes and set were magnificent and I learned more of her life story which was awesome. The cast was amazing ! One of the most delightful experiences I have had in very long time!! Can't recommend this show Enough Everyone should go! I loved going to the matinee so my evening was free later, great to have that option! And of course Gammage is the Best, not a bad seat in the house and great acoustics!!

Probably some of the best vocals from all cast members! The lead Carol King was amazing! Very entertaining!
Very courteous people that work there and helpful. The only problem was getting in to park. Got into the venue with only about 10 minutes before the show, took almost 30 minutes to park. The show was great.👍
From one of the best seats in the house to the whole performance experience, I was blessed by my husband this gift to re-live my favorite artist from the 1970’s- through even today! This performance had touched many emotions from laughter to tears of,” I dont know why I want to cry”!! Enjoyed ourselves immensely!!
Great entertainment especially for us that lived through that period. Music is so well done and the story of Carole's life comes alive on stage.
