About Beatles vs. Stones
Beatles vs. Stones on Tour
It’s the ultimate rock ‘n’ roll riddle. Who was the greatest band of the ‘60s: the lovable moptops from Liverpool or the bad boys from London? The Beatles vs. Stones live revue doesn’t purport to provide a definite answer, but it will present two equally convincing cases, as two tribute bands square off in a British Invasion battle royale. Playing the role of The Beatles is Abbey Road, who re-create the Fab Four’s most iconic looks - from the well-dressed lads seen on The Ed Sullivan Show to the psychedelic circus showmen in Sgt. Pepper uniforms - as they take you on a magical musical tour through one of rock’s most revered repertories. And representing the Stones side is tribute act Satisfaction (aka The International Rolling Stones Show), whose uncannily Jaggeresque frontman, Chris LeGrand, peacocks his way through the band’s myriad eras, up into the ‘80s. The two bands each perform three alternating sets, trading some cheeky trash talk along the way. But despite their legendary rivalry, The Beatles and Rolling Stones were actually good friends in real life, and in that spirit, this musical showdown comes to a peacefully rousing conclusion. The two groups join forces at the end for a joint jam, thereby answering the question, What would Lennon and McCartney sound like belting out the chorus to “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”?
Beatles vs. Stones Background
Though its members did make a small handful of TV appearances and recordings together, The Beatles and Rolling Stones never actually performed on the same concert bill before the Fab Four retired from the road in 1966. So in 2011, The Beatles vs. Stones tribute show was launched in Los Angeles to retroactively rectify that situation by bringing together the world’s premier Beatles and Rolling Stones tribute acts on one stage - Abbey Road and Satisfaction. Since then, the show has toured across America and around the world, while hosting residencies at Harrah’s casinos in Reno and Laughlin, Nevada.
We had a great time! They put on a good show!! We would definitely go again!
Both groups were excellent it is difficult to say who was best so I will leave it as a tie. We were upstairs and it was difficult to see over the people who insisted on standing up even though they were allocated seats.
Enjoyed the concert Would have like to have a few high tables to place our drinks while watching the show. Other than that great venue.
This show was wonderful! Truly enjoyed going back in time with these two groups! Excellent entertainment!!
They were all very good musicians!! Very entertaining!! Fun night of reminiscing!!
The music was good. Definitely sounded like the real groups. In the Beatles' group one guy actually looked like George Harrison. None of the others looked like the original fab 4. You could tell they were wearing wigs and they just looked hokie! In the Stones group, the singer really looked like Mick Jagger and the guy playing Keith Richards looked just like him. The rest were ok. I guess this is just not my thing. I would not go again.
I'VE SEEN ABBEY ROAD BEFORE AND THIS WAS NOT ONE OF THEIR BEST PERFORMANCES. I'VE NEVER SEEN A "STONES" TRIBUTE BAND AND WHILE THE MUSIC WAS GOOD AND THE JAGGER IMPERSONATOR HAD THE MOVES, HE DIDN'T HAVE THE VOICE. PROBABLY WITH A BIT MORE ADVERTISING THERE WOULD'VE BEEN MORE TICKETS SOLD. I HAPPENED ON IT WHILE LOOKING AT DIFFERENT VENUES FOR SPRING AND SUMMER PLAYS OR CONCERT. FOR WHAT I PAID, I COULD'VE BOUGHT THE "CHEAP SEATS" AND GOT MOVED DOWN TO THE FRONT ROW!
I can except that the cover bands only fleetingly resembled the individuals they were playing, but the music was just very mediocre. Considering that everyone has heard all of the iconic songs countless times, I would expect that the instrumental aspect of the music would be spot on, but it was not at all. I should have saved my money and listened to Pandora.
Memorial auditorium in Raleigh is not a good place for music, or the sound-person did not know their job; or Both! The bands were pretty good and interacted with the audience. As a Stones fan it was difficult to look past the wigs, so-so vocals and guitars .. they could just barely pass for a Stones tribute band. All in all we still had a nice time.
The beatles version were incredible musicians. They looked the part, their mannerisms were right on and the costume changes were astounding. The final gum chewing, peace loving John Lennon was spot on. The Stones on the other hand were not as technically proficient. For me, having the same guy play Brian Jones, Mick Taylor and Ronnie Wood did not work. Bill Wyman also did not have a close look-alike. It made sense to keep him in the back. It was a half decent show, but I would have been happier watching more Beatles.
Did not enjoy. We had seen Rain A tribute to the Beatles and it was fabulous! It was so loud you could not make out the words. Very disappointed, we left early 😔
There was a light turn-out, so energy from the audience was low. It's tough to replicate such iconic bands, so performers did as well as could be expected
The Stones win the battle in my world but both were great and we had fun
First off the venue was awesome. We will go back there! The show was a lot of fun filled with great hit songs from the Beatles and Stones. Both bands had superb musicians and they have their respective bands singing down to a T. It was a great, entertaining event. We will go watch them whenever we can.
Great show, great music, great artists !! Definitely recommend this concert.
The idea was appealing however, I suspect you were either wanting to hear more Beatles or more Rolling Stones music. Combining both bands may have left fans feeling somewhat disappointed. That would be particularly true of Beatles fans who would be looking for a larger number of songs. I have never seen the Rolling Stones in person but I imagine that the Mick Jagger impersonator was realistic. The major issue I had was that Mick spoke too much during the songs. His actual singing was Ok but very limited.
What a clever show --- that positions the Beatles vs. the Stones! This was a birthday gift for my 18 year old son and he loved it. He is huge Beatles fan and his review of this show was extremely positive! Well done.
We were not expecting much besides 2 fake bands. But the show was very entertaining, and really brought back memories. They were all very good musicians and sounded a lot like the originals. The standouts were Mick Jagger and John Lennon for looking the most like the part they were playing. I recommend this to anyone who loves the 2 bands.
Great show, we really enjoyed it. Both bands were spot on.
I love the Beatles, but I've never been much of a Stones fan. We had so much fun watching these guys perform. It is easy to see that they are all very talented musicians, and watching some of their mannerisms as they were portraying their characters had us dying laughing. Both bands were equally impressive. They interacted with the crowd and kept us involved. The Beatles group was my favorite, and tho I'm still not a Stones fan I enjoyed that group as well. I would go see them again.
