BEACH HOUSE IN CONCERT:

Dream pop duo Beach House plays a haunted rendition of ‘60s-style pop that is sure to captivate and mystify audiences wherever the group plays on tour. Singer/keyboardist Victoria Legrand is the focal point in concert, supporting her smoky vocals and graceful melodies with retro organ chords. Cutting through melodic basslines and minimal drum shuffles, guitarist Alex Scally weaves an intricate tapestry of chiming guitar notes. These sparse elements sound straightforward enough, but the group slowly adds layer after layer to create a climatic wall of sound on miniature epics like “Zebra”, “Norway”, and “Used to Be”. Ticket buyers can’t help but be swept off their feet as Beach House carefully constructs each intricate and atmospheric gem at their unforgettably hypnotic concerts.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

French-born vocalist/organist Victoria Legrand originally recruited Alex Scally to play bass for her Baltimore pop band in 2004, but he quickly romanced her away to form Beach House. Excited by the level of creative control they could achieve as a duo, the kindred spirits began composing their self-titled 2006 debut. Their atmospheric and mysterious take on classic pop struck an immediate chord with fans and critics, leading Pitchfork to name their debut one of the best albums of the year. The band signed to Sub Pop for 2010’s Teen Dream, which marked a major creative and commercial watershed for the band. While they’ve received increased attention in the following years, Beach House has kept their creative process unfettered: two best friends meticulously constructing one ethereal pop masterpiece after another. The results continue to transfix live audiences in concert and fascinate listeners on their recorded material, such as their critically praised 2015 album Depression Cherry.

by Jon on 7/26/22The Met Philadelphia - Philadelphia

Beach House truly gave me a night to remember. The effects really have much more feeling to the tunes and they put a more experienced twist on their past work that really shook the room. Highly recommend seeing them in person!

    Good to be alive!

by Weesabi on 7/26/22The Met Philadelphia - Philadelphia

This is my third viewing of Beach House live, saw them both in The Met, Philadelphia and The Anthem, D.C.. And I have to say they never disappoint, truly one of the greatest bands to exist in this era. Victoria and Alex are making a lot of people’s nights, fulfilling dreams and starting fresh beautiful memories.

people standing in orchestra blocked seated view

by kt on 7/26/22The Met Philadelphia - Philadelphia

I just want to start by saying that the performance of Beach House was phenomenal, from sound to the lighting effects (from what I could actually see), they were great and I would absolutely see them again. However, I wish I would have known that orchestra seating was essentially going to be people standing and blocking the view of those sitting for the entire performance. This was incredibly irritating. I tend to lean towards going to performances where there is a seated option because I have some back issues that make it hard to stand for long periods of time. I was disappointed that this was the case, and that I couldn't enjoy the performance in its entirety because I couldn't see from where I was seated. I say this to hopefully let people know that feel similarly in the future that they might be better off sitting in the Mezzanine if they want to sit and not have a blocked view. That will be my course of action moving forward.

    AMAZING. UNREAL. IMPECCABLE.

My soul is still reverberating from the synthesiser that I experienced on Saturday night. The visual experience was insane. Beach House sounded IMPECCABLE.

    Left early

    by S. A. on 7/25/22

Not sure if it was the sound system at The Anthem or if the band was in serious need of a sound check, but the entire show was so muffled and not enjoyable…I could barely make out what they were saying to the crowd in between songs.I would’ve gotten more pleasure blasting their music from my car radio. Band also came on super late. Super disappointed. Would not suggest to anyone

incredible show! but not the best venue for a concert

    by m on 7/22/22Kings Theatre - Brooklyn

Beach house is the most incredible band you will ever see live. it was my second time seeing them and it was awesome. However, as beautiful as Kings theater is, its not the greatest place for a concert. Those in front row mezzanine were unable to see over the GA crowd, causing those with seats to have to stand for the entire show just to be able to see. I would have chosen GA tickets had i known i would just end up standing the entire time.

    Kings Theater...

by Letsrock on 7/22/22Kings Theatre - Brooklyn

Show was fantastic because Beach House never disappoints and the theater is really beautiful BUT, the bathrooms were a total wreck by 830pm-- no toilet paper, trash all over, kind of surprisingly disgusting. Been to hundreds of shows at assorted venues, very unexpected that this place wasn't taking better care of things as the evening progressed. Yuck.

    Average concert experience, good lights

I love beach house so, obviously going to rate them high. Took away 1 star as the show felt rushed. Little to no conversation with the crowd

Super short concert with fake harp player

by Donnie Darling on 7/13/22Old Forester's Paristown Hall - Louisville

I totally love Beach House music and drove from St. Louis to Louisville to see them for the first time. Spent the whole weekend there to be capped off by Beach House on Sunday night. The shell got off to a bad start with a terrible heart player who was faking playing the harp for 35 minutes, and then Beach House didn’t come out for another hour. They played for 95 minutes and the music sounded good, but I was really disappointed that they only played 95 minutes. Paul McCartney is 80 years old and plays for three hours all the time. I was really disappointed having to wait until 9:35 PM to see ya hour and a half show. I won’t ever travel to see Beach House ever again.

Great show, sound & lights spectacular

by Misha on 7/13/22Old Forester's Paristown Hall - Louisville

Great lights & hood crowd. A bit tough to maneuver around venue and to exit from opposite side of entry if coming from upstairs or bathroom area. Would help to have security as 6 were just sitting at bottom stairs when could have been directing crowd away from merch line. Love to see more vip space.

    Top notch

by Bobby on 7/13/22Old Forester's Paristown Hall - Louisville

They had a great set. Super talented to put on the show they did. The lighting and effects were really good for the venue size too. Venue was a little slow to get things right though.

Won’t Go Back to Paristown Hall

by DigsMusic on 7/13/22Old Forester's Paristown Hall - Louisville

Beach House performance: 5 stars. Old Forester’s Paristown Hall venue: 1 star. Who designed this venue? Eye-level stage with a flat floor (no seats), capacity of 2000 & probably <5% of them actually see anything! Been to 2 shows here, purchased at the same time, neither were sold out. I could not see the bands. At all. Despite moving throughout the venue to try to get a glimpse. If I’d paid $20 or so, I’d let this go. But fans & artists deserve better. Spread the word. I won’t be back.

Poor sound quality dampened the experienced.

by Robin on 7/13/22Old Forester's Paristown Hall - Louisville

I was really excited to see the Beach house show. When we got to the venue, the opening act(a harpist) was playing and it was so loud with lots of feedback and distortion. The sound quality was off. I shrugged it off as a warm up. The band was delayed taking the stage and someone over the PA said they were having some technical difficulties. The band started playing shortly after but the stage was pitch black. I couldn’t see the band, coupled with poor sound made it hard to enjoy the show. When we did see the musicians, the backgrounds were dizzy and distracting from the music. I love this band and listen to them frequently but man I could not get into this show. I left early and disappointed. This is a fairly new venue, they shouldn’t be having sound quality issues. I have two shows coming up at Paristown Hall and am nervous about repeat problems with sound. I hope they can get it fixed.
