BEACH HOUSE IN CONCERT:

Dream pop duo Beach House plays a haunted rendition of ‘60s-style pop that is sure to captivate and mystify audiences wherever the group plays on tour. Singer/keyboardist Victoria Legrand is the focal point in concert, supporting her smoky vocals and graceful melodies with retro organ chords. Cutting through melodic basslines and minimal drum shuffles, guitarist Alex Scally weaves an intricate tapestry of chiming guitar notes. These sparse elements sound straightforward enough, but the group slowly adds layer after layer to create a climatic wall of sound on miniature epics like “Zebra”, “Norway”, and “Used to Be”. Ticket buyers can’t help but be swept off their feet as Beach House carefully constructs each intricate and atmospheric gem at their unforgettably hypnotic concerts.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

French-born vocalist/organist Victoria Legrand originally recruited Alex Scally to play bass for her Baltimore pop band in 2004, but he quickly romanced her away to form Beach House. Excited by the level of creative control they could achieve as a duo, the kindred spirits began composing their self-titled 2006 debut. Their atmospheric and mysterious take on classic pop struck an immediate chord with fans and critics, leading Pitchfork to name their debut one of the best albums of the year. The band signed to Sub Pop for 2010’s Teen Dream, which marked a major creative and commercial watershed for the band. While they’ve received increased attention in the following years, Beach House has kept their creative process unfettered: two best friends meticulously constructing one ethereal pop masterpiece after another. The results continue to transfix live audiences in concert and fascinate listeners on their recorded material, such as their critically praised 2015 album Depression Cherry.

    Amazing show

by Gajin on 12/8/22House of Blues Anaheim - Anaheim

The openers for the show were a little experimental. Didn’t do it for me but beach house was a pretty fun show. Venue was a little too small and too many pillars around not allowing for a proper viewing experience if you had to step away for water or the restroom to lose your spot.

    Incredible!

    by Scottie on 10/5/22

The Orpheum was a beautiful venue and we had some great balcony seats that gave us an amazing view. The opening act, Sound Of Ceres, put on a very unique show that fit in nicely with the Beach House vibe. And Beach House, honestly, is one of the only bands that my wife and I have seen that sound just as good live as they do on their albums. They played a lot of songs off the latest album while also playing some crowd favorites from the other 7 albums. I'd pay to watch them every day of the week, they were just fantastic and put on one of the best shows we've ever seen.

    Infinitely satisfying

by Coop on 10/1/22Orpheum Theater - New Orleans

The stage looked great , the lighting was terrific. The venue is a gorgeous piece of restored early century architecture that set the tone of the evening perfectly. The performance, outstanding . Beach house at their absolute finest, polished and refined. They performed every song I had hoped to hear . Quite the feat for a band as prolific as they are.

Not a good venue for ADA.

by A on 10/1/22Avondale Brewing Co. - Birmingham

Unfortunately, the ADA section was located on the corner of the stage and there was not a good visual of the band. I was very disappointed, but not surprised as this is the case in most venues. ADA clients are accommodated by law but not given equal opportunity.

    So Strange

by ALCurlyGirl on 9/30/22Avondale Brewing Co. - Birmingham

The opener was off-the-charts bizarre—like a high-school theatre group. And then Beach House, a band I really enjoy listening to, simply gave us no reason to be standing there. You could not see their faces during the entire show. People attend concerts to see a band in real life, appreciate their artistry, and interact with them as an audience. This just didn't happen. Alex said, "Thanks for coming out on a Tuesday night," but that was the extent of it. Even when the light hit Victoria's face, it was blocked by her hair. The whole experience was just strange. I go to a lot of shows, and this was the only one that I've ever left before it was over.

    amazing

by gloria on 9/6/22The Anthem - Washington

They gave a fantastic show, good long set with a mix of old and new songs. Show started at a reasonable time and yes I expect an hour wait minimum here in DC for any venue. Sold out show it was just amazing. It would be a no-brainer to go see them again if they come by DC again!

    Beautiful and graceful

    by scarlet on 8/14/22

I saw them at the Greek theater in Los Angeles. By far one of my favorite experience! I’ve been to multiple artists concert this year and beach house is in my top 3. The sound was beautiful and the lights and entertainment was just on point.

A Special Night at the Beach House With Anthem :)

by Smooch on 7/30/22The Anthem - Washington

For me it was an unforgettable night. Beach House did what they do, with good sound and a chill lightshow. There were similarities with Kiss - We never saw their faces because they were always shrouded in the dark. The band let their music speak for itself. The crowd was perfect.

    better in a smaller venue

by j.mack on 7/29/22The Met Philadelphia - Philadelphia

As haunting and spellbinding as Beach Houses's music is, seeing them live in such a large venue was somewhat boring and monotonous. They pretty much play in the dark with little movement because they are all positioned in front of their instruments. I've seen them in smaller venues and it felt very intimate. I just didn't get this feeling at the Met in philly.

music was good but overcrowded and hard to see

by how on 7/28/22The Anthem - Washington

a little concerned that it was very crowed while we're still having issues with covid. also, the there was no lighting on the group, only behind them so we couldn't really see them playing. kind of odd. the music was good, though

    Best Concert Ever

    by N on 7/27/22The Anthem - Washington

Been listening to beach house for years and finally seeing them in person was surreal. They sounded so good and made our whole group emotional. Will be seeing them again on their next tour

The most surreal concert I’ve ever been to.

by Samara on 7/27/22The Anthem - Washington

The sound filled the entire venue, and the use of the lights brought it all together. The transitions from fog fading into the crowd, to a beautiful light show, it was so exciting. Also, the backdrop onstage would occasionally change to match with whatever song was playing, it was absolutely amazing. Totally would see them again, a very very special night.
