Ticket buyers will likely never guess that Santa Cruz-born Lorin Ashton, better known as Bassnectar, grew up influenced by rock heavyweights like Megadeth and Metallica and grunge pioneers Nirvana. An interest in ambient acts like Orbital may be less surprising. The electronic music guru—both a DJ and a producer—now delivers electrifying, bass-heavy concerts (hence the name) that typically feature creative remixed tributes like "Seek and Destroy (Bassnectar Remix)" alongside laser light shows that awe tour and festival attendees. Many Bassnectar creations also meld socio-political statements from personalities like Martin Luther King, Jr. and Noam Chomsky into the electronic grooves.
Though he's made more than a dozen free downloadable mixtapes available at his website since 1999, Bassnectar has also unleashed several full-length albums, including a couple more recent releases on his own label, Amorphous Music. The 2012 release "Vava Voom" features a collaboration with Lupe Fiasco on the title track, as well as "Pennywise Tribute," a remix of Pennywise's own single, "Bro Hymn (Tribute)."
There was room on the floor and they weren’t letting anyone on, the lines to get on the floor were crazy long and people continued to cut. Staff wasn’t doing anything about it. Wasn’t able to get on the floor both nights and I went early! Other than that awesome bassnectar show.
The only suggestion I want to make is recommended that floor lines not be set up in between level 100 bleacher rows, this caused some long, barely moving lines through every night. This could have been a safety hazard if someone needed to get through the stairway fast for a medical emergency. Aside from that, staff was extremely helpful and kind in all my experiences throughout the 3 day event. I hope they host the Halloween party next year!
Search was invasive to say the least. This isn’t TSA I don’t. Need my ball fondled to get into a venue. This was the most invasive search I’ve ever experienced entering a venue

This was my first bassnectar show and it 100% did not disappoint. The crowd was amazingly kind and the ambassadors were incredible. I Never went more than 10 minutes without one of them asking if I needed water. The show itself was RIDICULOUS. One night we were on the floor and one night we were in the stands and both were insanely beautiful. Just the best.
The lasers were amazingly on point, & with the music... great eco I will be back for another show
Was worried dark party meant no lights, but the lighting and lasers were amazing! Soo much good music, deep bass, complex!

Lorin Ashton is one of the best DJ’s alive right now. His mixing is superb and his overall stage production is incredible. Definitely do not miss a Bassnectar curated event if it comes to your city.

The show was awesome. Been a few times, love the people and the atmosphere. It took 2 hours to get in the gates for the show. The wait was gruelling. But other than that had a great time.
I could not have had a better time. Bassnectars team was amazing, they truly know how to throw a party. The production was the best of the best and the ambassadors were doing their job and making sure everyone was having the best time. I really couldn’t say a negative thing about my experience at the Hampton Coliseum. The only downfall were the lines to get into the venue. They had barricades up and once doors opened, everyone stormed the gates and made the wait in line hours long. That would be the only bad thing about the whole show! I can’t wait to go to my next Bassnectar event!

Bassnectar does an incredible job at curating his events. From the sound to the lights to the actual music, this guy knows how to put on an incredible show. I can't recommend this event highly enough!

Bassnectar and The Mothership go hand in hand. 2 nights of incredible energy, and an awesome community. Hopefully the team comes back to Hampton next year for something.
The lights, the vibes, the people, the food, the venue and last but not least all the djs were incredible . I hope bass center doesn’t move to a different city next year. I look forward to this event every year.
Too many details. Too many beautiful memories. 100/10 WOULD AND WILL do it again.
