Barbra Streisand on Tour

In August 2019, Barbra Streisand returned to New York's legendary Madison Square Garden for the first time in 13 years; the show marked her first New York date since playing at Barclay Center in her home borough of Brooklyn in 2017. She warmed up by headlining London's British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park the month before.

"There are no fans like New York fans," the singer had said in a press release, "and I can't wait to return to Madison Square Garden to perform some new songs, some old songs, and anything I find in-between."

At 77, Streisand had little to prove — other than that she could still deliver a powerful performance. She has released 52 gold, 31 platinum, and 13 multiplatinum records in addition to five No. 1 singles. She has won a dozen Grammy Awards, three Academy Awards, five Emmy Awards, assorted lifetime-achievement awards, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Barbra Streisand in Concert

Streisand's first educational experience was in an Orthodox Jewish yeshiva. She drew upon that experience for ‘Yentl' (1983), the first major studio film a woman wrote, produced, directed, and starred in. Streisand struggled as a young performer but broke out in 1962 with a lead role in the Broadway musical ‘I Can Get It for You Wholesale.' This led to a long string of television appearances and kudos from the likes of comedian Phyllis Diller, for whom Streisand opened on tour.

Her 1963 debut album hit the Billboard Top 10 and earned her three Grammys, and she eventually became the best-selling female music artist of all time. Pensive and emotional singles such as "People," "Happy Days Are Here Again," and "The Way We Were" made her a household name. Hit collaborations like "Guilty" (with Barry Gibb) and "I Finally Found Someone" (with Bryan Adams) helped her remain a chart presence through the '90s. Her most recent album, ‘Walls' (2018), included the defiant single "Don't Lie to Me." Still an outspoken public figure due to both her politics and her pet cloning, Barbra Streisand remains a performer for the ages.

    Barbara and Barclays were perfect!

by NickRX on 10/13/12Barclays Center - Brooklyn

Needless to say that Barbara was phenomenal! From start to finish, Barbara was incredible. The woman is talented in so many ways that it is truly an honor and privilege to watch her. From her customized Brooklyn opening number to the end of the concert she was funny, down to earth, and her voice (even with a slight cold that she mentioned) was amazing. She was very generous as she also shared the stage with Il Volo, Chris Botti, her son Jason Gould, and the Brooklyn Chorus. The woman is a genius! Additionally, the Barclays Center was gorgeous, clean, the staff was amazing! We met up with our first Barclays impression from a block away from the center as the staff, along with the NYPD, was everywhere helping to ensure that the guests found the destination easily and efficiently. Inside, the experience was the same. Courteous and available staff on hand to assist all of us as needed.

    Barbra Streisand

by Fortesque on 10/13/12Barclays Center - Brooklyn

Marvelous. Barbra was in fine form. Her singing was wonderful except for a little raspiness from a cold. She performed all the songs that we just had to hear- with that wonderful tone and heart. I could have done without Il Vono (sp) and maybe jazzed it up with a more with it act.

    Drop Everyone but YOU!

by EYEBEE on 10/13/12Barclays Center - Brooklyn

This was to be an event of a lifetime. Yes, we are glad we went. However, we came to see Barbra......not the slew of others she had with her or a film made by her son. This is not to say that the other performers weren't great....just not what we came for. Not what we spent what we did to see Barbra. We wonder if Barbra is okay. Did she need the others because she isn't well? Or because it would be too much for her to do a whole performance on her own? We are pleased we went, though wish Barbra trusted herself to be more spontaneous and less canned with the audience.

Barbra can still belt out a tune!

    by Nancyb1011 on 10/13/12Barclays Center - Brooklyn

Although my daughter and I had a great time and Barbra can still belt out a good song for a 70 year old, she did not perform nearly long enough to warrant such a expensive ticket price. Thus, alot of us, felt somewhat cheated. I didnt pay $375 a ticket to see her son, a trumpet player, a violinist, an Italian operatic trio, a choir and a way too long video of some her brooklyn acquaintences from her elementary school days. Additionally, the show started a half hour late which really pissed off alot of people. It was however, a once in a lifetime experience and I am glad we went. As a sidebar, Barcalys needs to hire more help at the concession stands and become much more organized, as put up much larger and more jumbotrons for viewing.

We wanted to see more Barbra, not her friends perform. It started late. Barbra wasn't on stage a lot. There was a blinding light in our faces for most of the time. Granted she wasn't feeling well. But I would have preferred to wait till she was 100% to see her since she doesn't perform to the public all of that much. Her voice is still great even with a cold. It just wasn't as good as Idina Menzel.

    Back to Broadway

by ItsMissDenise on 10/13/12Barclays Center - Brooklyn

Barbra Streisand was magnificent! Barbra is an icon of humanity and style, creativity and courage! A true genius of the arts. This was my 7th time seeing her perform and she always delivers on the goods! Entertainment at its finest with the exquisite staging and orchestra and guest artists. I also thought The Barclay was a great venue with the most comfortable padded seating ever experienced in a stadium. Great Brooklyn food concession offerings and all the staff were nice and helpful. Amazing event and venue!

by Anonymous on 10/13/12Barclays Center - Brooklyn

Babs was over the top amazing. Bucket list #8 ... Check!! A bit too many political references. Interesting that she wore a RED dress and not a blue one :-) Barclays Center...over rated. Not impressed.
