Barbra Streisand on Tour

In August 2019, Barbra Streisand returned to New York's legendary Madison Square Garden for the first time in 13 years; the show marked her first New York date since playing at Barclay Center in her home borough of Brooklyn in 2017. She warmed up by headlining London's British Summer Time festival in Hyde Park the month before.

"There are no fans like New York fans," the singer had said in a press release, "and I can't wait to return to Madison Square Garden to perform some new songs, some old songs, and anything I find in-between."

At 77, Streisand had little to prove — other than that she could still deliver a powerful performance. She has released 52 gold, 31 platinum, and 13 multiplatinum records in addition to five No. 1 singles. She has won a dozen Grammy Awards, three Academy Awards, five Emmy Awards, assorted lifetime-achievement awards, and a Presidential Medal of Freedom.

Barbra Streisand in Concert

Streisand's first educational experience was in an Orthodox Jewish yeshiva. She drew upon that experience for ‘Yentl' (1983), the first major studio film a woman wrote, produced, directed, and starred in. Streisand struggled as a young performer but broke out in 1962 with a lead role in the Broadway musical ‘I Can Get It for You Wholesale.' This led to a long string of television appearances and kudos from the likes of comedian Phyllis Diller, for whom Streisand opened on tour.

Her 1963 debut album hit the Billboard Top 10 and earned her three Grammys, and she eventually became the best-selling female music artist of all time. Pensive and emotional singles such as "People," "Happy Days Are Here Again," and "The Way We Were" made her a household name. Hit collaborations like "Guilty" (with Barry Gibb) and "I Finally Found Someone" (with Bryan Adams) helped her remain a chart presence through the '90s. Her most recent album, ‘Walls' (2018), included the defiant single "Don't Lie to Me." Still an outspoken public figure due to both her politics and her pet cloning, Barbra Streisand remains a performer for the ages.

    Eliminate Politics

by Tim on 8/11/19United Center - Chicago

The concert was very good. Barbra’s voice sounded good and the selection of songs performed was good as well. I wish she would have performed as an artist only and not as a liberal political spokesperson. I and many others spent hundreds of dollars to hear her sing not to be told who to vote for in 2020.

    Babs does is again!!!

    by C. G. on 8/11/19United Center - Chicago

This is my fifth and likely last time to see Barbra Streisand perform live. The first time was in 1994 and each time has been a more fabulous concert than the one that preceded it. I know that may sound trite or unlikely, but I am not one to exaggerate and when it comes to attending a Barbra concert, there's really no reason to do so. Each of these five performances has been a unique experience and those who have attended with me will tell you, I am always unaware of anyone else being there but Barbra and me. Even in a huge stadium, filled with adoring fans, Barbra has a way of reaching out to every person there in the most intimate way they are able to receive her. I am so fortunate to have been at the United Center and will forever be grateful to Ms. Streisand for her gift of the music and memories that will forever light the corners of my mind!

    Barbra Streisand continues to deliver

    by S. M. on 8/10/19

One of, if not the greatest voices of all time. Simply an amazing time. Each show is perfectly timed and each song is so relevant for any feeling you may have. The first dance after mine and my husband's wedding was to Barbra's "If I Never Met You".

    Excellent as usual

by Charlie on 8/10/19United Center - Chicago

This was my 4th time seeing her since 2006. Each show was different but always a experience like not other. At 77, she is still the song stylist that I have followed over the past 6 decades. She truly is the actress who sings because she finds the meaning of each lyric and turns it into a story. Seeing her live is the ultimate experience and I would encourage any fan that has not seen her live to do it if the opportunity should come your way.

    The Greatest Star

by Maria D on 8/9/19Madison Square Garden - New York

Don’t miss this concert. Barbra was amazing. Her voice was fantastic and her story telling was fun and interesting. She sang a great variety of songs from her hits to others. It was worth every penny and some. You can’t put a price on such a great once in a lifetime performer.

Not good after the fabulous show I saw her due a couple year

    by B. C. on 8/9/19United Center - Chicago

They were worried about the crowd using their cameras or phones but the prompter as big as a scoreboard hanging at center ice was very distracting to the crowd sitting on the stage half of the arena. Sound was not good after a perfect show I saw a couple years ago.

    More songs and music

by Pat on 8/9/19United Center - Chicago

Less political commentary and more songs and music. At $350.00 per ticket, I was hoping for more of her great hit songs, not personal political commentary about the POTUS. It wasted 20 to 30 minutes!! I really don't care what Ms. Striesand's political preferences are. She 's not going to change anyone's political views at a concert. She is such a fabulous entertainer...why not give the fans more of her "greatness"! Thank you.

by L. Jones on 8/9/19United Center - Chicago

Seeing Barbra live was on my bucket list and my dream was fulfilled. She is funny, gracious, and one of the best singers alive today. The notes she reaches and holds give goose bumps. LOVED LOVED LOVED her Send in the Clowns parody of Trump!!! She’s a queen and I love her.

    Quite an experience

    by p. S. on 8/9/19United Center - Chicago

I went to the concert to hear her sing, not to hear her political views, And when someone in the audience did not agree with her, she honestly told them on the microphone “shut the hell up” I Honestly have never witnessed anything like that in the past at any concert, anywhere! It was truly classless, very sad!

    A night out

    by F. on 8/9/19United Center - Chicago

United Center Staff: parking crew, waitstaff at The Stadium Club, Bathroom attendant, Ushers, Concession staff, management... All did an outstanding job. Everyone was courteous and took time with questions and directions. Excellent customer service. We enjoyed our experience at the United Center and felt it was well worth coming down early and having dinner before the concert. Thank you and Nice Job to all The Concert: Babara is a talent in her own. She has a beautiful voice and it was wonderful to see her preform again. As far as her 1/2 hour of political badgering to the President and White House it ruined the show for us. We paid for entertainment not politics.... we see that enough on TV. It will be our last Barbara concert but hope to visit The United Center again. Thanks to the Staff at The United Center for giving us a very enjoyable night out!

Great Show Great Stadium Great Location

by Jan on 8/9/19United Center - Chicago

Once in a Lifetime Opportunity for me. Barbra is one of the greats. I am a fan since the early 60's. The performance was perfection. The stadium is beautiful ! When I entered my tickets were upgraded to better location. I thought I had great seats, the new seats perfect. Who could ask for more! The stadium is a great location, parking very reasonable cost and just a short walk to the entrance. Who could ask for more.
