About

Backstreet Boys on Tour

The pitch-perfect harmonies. The matching outfits and dance moves. The dreamy personas. When they set foot in an arena, the Backstreet Boys are absolutely in their element, belting out a massive catalog of original hits to an outsized audience that screams back every word. Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean and Kevin Richardson have been at it for decades, but even after setting the blueprint for acts like One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer, their 1993-formed group remains the best-selling boy band of all time. And unlike so many others (including their former direct competition, *NSYNC), Backstreet Boys never quit. They kept making records — adapting their increasingly adult sound to an ever-shifting pop landscape — and kept upping the performance stakes too, taking their NKOTBSB supergroup (with New Kids on the Block) on the road in 2011, and holding down a two-year residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas starting in 2017. Their DNA World Tour celebrates their rich history of swooning ballads and get-up-and-dance jams (and yet another No. 1 album in 2019's DNA).

Backstreet Boys in Concert

Despite becoming more or less a five-headed pop machine, the Backstreet Boys' origins were pretty organic. Cousins Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell came up singing in church choirs and at festivals in Lexington, Kentucky, while the other three bonded over their shared love for Prince and old-school R&B after meeting at various acting auditions around Orlando. They came together under the guidance of teen-pop guru Lou Pearlman and emerged in the mid-1990s as radio-smashing global sensations — the quintessential boy band yearning over heartfelt hits like "I Want It That Way" and powering parties with upbeat bops like "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)." Their first two U.S. albums — 1997's Backstreet Boys and 1999's Millennium — also marked the arrival of Swedish superproducer Max Martin, who helped forge a shiny new sound that combined bubblegum pop, classic R&B, hip-hop swing and dance production. The Backstreet Boys' astounding longevity owes as much to maintaining this baseline formula as it does to their ability to pull modern sounds and grown-man themes into the gleaming pop universe they created way back when.

    Music great, wait stunk

by HUReview on 6/14/10MAC at Monmouth University - West Long Branch

Concert was fine. No complaints. However, tickets said 7pm concert. We were not let in until 7:10 (waited in rain outside theater for 45 minutes). BB did not start till 9:05!!! Not fair to anyone!

    BSB was AMAZING

by LiLFrack on 6/14/10Trump Taj Mahal - Atlantic City

Concert was amazing, but a little disappointed with the Trump Taj's seating chart. It looks like our seats in 105 would be in front of the stage, but turned out to be left of the stage. Overall still an amazing show!!

    Backstreet rocked!

by Tat314 on 6/14/10MAC at Monmouth University - West Long Branch

The event was in a University Activity Center and I wasn't expecting much. But the place was spotless, and the event must've not been sold out because there was so much room on the floor. In the begining we tried to get as close as possible but it got too hot in the mix so we moved to the back. We saw the stage perfectly and had a huge area around us to dance freely without bumping anyone. The show didn't start til 9:15 event though the ticket said 7PM which was annoying but it was totally worth the wait and hearing loss from 15 year olds screaming. They put on a great show, I thoroughly enjoyed it and would totally go again.

Took me back to my teeny days! =)

by itsMG on 6/14/10Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

I really liked the show. I was jamming to nearly every song and remembering lyrics I thought were long gone in my head. I loved the fact that they still danced and looked good doing them. =) Thanks BSB!

    change with the fans

by Anonymous on 6/14/10Trump Taj Mahal - Atlantic City

backup dancers were distracting and annoying! bsb fans are primarily female so we don't want to see female dancers, just the boys please! sound wasn't good at the arena. at the beginning of each song it was hard to hear what it actually was! over-choreographed. They should just sing and be themselves. The boy band thing is over. most of the fans are in their late twenties, early thirties and not interested in all that hip hop. video clips were good.

    Super High Energy Concert!

by TagAlong83 on 6/14/10Trump Taj Mahal - Atlantic City

Man, you know it's a GREAT concert when your husband who isn't a fan said it was an "awesome concert" HAHAHA. He's been to 3 of the tours with me and said "this one was the best I've been to", and that speaks volumes! I've been a fan since the beginning and Saturday's concert did not disappoint. I LOVED the little videos of each member and the flash backs...HILARIOUS. I also loved that they performed a lot of their older songs. There were songs that were performed that I hadn't seen performed since the very first US tour...FANTASTIC! The cutest part was when Brian's son came out in the beginning and introduced the band.

by ImMr1o3 on 6/14/10Raleigh Amphitheater and Festival Site - Raleigh

What a great choice to have as your first concert at this new venue Raleigh! BSB has not missed a step! Even though it poured down on the crowd, it brought us closer together & we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

    Backstreet Boys still HOT!

by crazy4bsb on 6/14/10Manhattan Center Hammerstein Ballroom - New York

This show was absolutely amazing. The boys played a bunch of their old hits as well as new songs off their newest album 'This Is Us'. They are still fantastic and excellent performers! Their energy was electric from the minute they came out on stage and everyone went wild for the full 100 minutes. It was such an unforgettable night! I've been talking about it ever since! They're coming to NYC again in August and you can bet I'll be there!

    Backstreet Boys are the best!

by Alexandra531 on 6/14/10MAC at Monmouth University - West Long Branch

I have been a fan of the group ever since I was 9 years old. I am 21 now and still a fan of their music. They can never let me down. I always enjoy their shows and this one was FANTASTIC! I have been going to their concerts for years and they always have a way of captivating their audience and making the crowd get so excited! They also played a good mix of oldies and new songs. I loved every single minute of it =)

    Great show. Glad they're back!

by Linz84 on 6/14/10MAC at Monmouth University - West Long Branch

I used to go to their concerts when I was 16. I'm 26 now. Ten years later and it feels like time hasn't passed at all. The show was definitely a lot smaller than what us fans are used to but it was still a good show. They sang a lot of their old hits which were great to hear! I haven't kept up with them over the years but seeing them back on stage, I felt like a teenager all over again. I would recommend this show to anyone who enjoyed their music. Ten years ago tickets were hard to come by and very expensive. $60 bucks a pop is nothing compared to previous prices and it is well worth it!

    Everybody Backstreet's Back!!

by Tessi307 on 6/14/10MAC at Monmouth University - West Long Branch

The Backstreet Boys always put on an awesome show and this one was no different! They performed for the full hour and forty minutes with songs from their past as well as their new hits. The show itself was very reminiscent of their Millennium tour with all of the high tech gear and displays. The boys can still dance and they still bring excitement and passion to their performance which translates into the crowd. Though the show itself was absolutely breathtaking the venue and actual event was ill planned. The security personnel was rude and abrasive and unable to control the amount of people who tried to cut into the line. The venue itself was awful but the show made up for some of the venue's short comings. I would highly recommend any of the Backstreet Boy shows, present and future.

2 hours late!!! It was disrespectful!

by Ana1988 on 6/14/10MAC at Monmouth University - West Long Branch

The event was supposed to start at 7 pm. I arrived in the line at 5:30. They just opened the entrance gate at 7pm. And then we waited for two hours untill the beggining of the event. It started at 9 pm. I would go again because I love backstreet boys, their show is always amazing. But the event didn't have a good organization.
