  • Good, close to the real storyline

by TT on 7/1/25Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 4 out of 5

I get things need to change for it to work on a stage vs a movie screen. But key parts were changed. Like how Doc was killed when Marty went back in time, what fun is it without the Libyans? The Peabody family never came out to the barn. the fight scene shifted from Lou’s to the high school and Marty had a lightsaber… smh. The Time Machine is now voice activated, it doesn’t stall in 1955 building the suspense. I’m not a big fan of throwing in the local sports teams/ players names into the show either. Overall it was pretty good and I’m glad I went to see it. Acting was great. Merchandise was pricy, but what else do you expect these days. Hopefully Shea’s in Buffalo updates their seating with the $50 million renovation project they announced.

  • The story was spot on

by Char on 7/1/25Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

Loved the theater (Sheas Buffalo NY ). Took my 12 year old niece. She thought it was amazing. The play stayed to the original movie story line as close as could be. I recommend the show.

  • Very well done and I am not a fan of musicals

by Some guy on 6/30/25Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

This was a great show and worth attending. If your on the fence because you dislike musicals, it was not like any of the other musicals I have seen.

  • Wonderful!

by Pit Guy on 6/30/25Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

Awesome show! But I think many parts are inappropriate for children. A lot of sexual innuendo.

  • Great show

by Ray-Ray! on 6/28/25West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

The show was amazing and the technical aspects were great. The show was really funny. The music was fun and catchy. Altogether I would recommend for everyone!

  • Great nostalgia

by Patty on 6/28/25Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 4 out of 5

We loved the performance and the special effects. I especially liked that they added local references like referring to the Sabers. That made it feel personalized. At the end, the screen said "The End"and many people started leaving, even before the curtain call and the final song. Maybe eliminate that or change it to, "and then..." The performances were excellent, especially Cartreze Tucker. He has a fabulous voice.

  • Awesome Show!

by Mike on 6/27/25Shea's Performing Arts Center - BuffaloRating: 5 out of 5

Musical production matched the excitement of the movie. The cast did a great job recreating Marty, Dr. Brown, Biff, Marty's parents and even Mr. Strickland. A must see for all Back to the Future fans.

  • Great Scott!

It was so good that we immediately bought tickets to see it again before it leaves our city. A technological marvel with sets and props that blew us away. Lucas and David are perfectly casted as Marty and Doc respectively.

  • Tons of fun

by Back to the Future Fan on 6/25/25West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

Really fun to watch. I was pleased to see essential elements of the movie that were kept in spirit in the musical.

  • Out of time

by JT on 6/25/25West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

Excellent! Fresh funny and true to the story the actors were passionate in the music was engaging and exciting. Special effects were exhilarating. Not sure I recommend it with young kids just because of certain aspects that might be difficult in portions. Some profanity. use of the D word. Overall worth the time and money

  • Better than I expected!

by John on 6/25/25West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this. I love the movie obviously, I grew up with it, so I was skeptical of the musical, but I figured the kids might enjoy it. I was very pleasantly surprised! It was true enough to the original, but had its own twists. It was funny. They went all out with the props: it was a really good blend of special effects and physical sets. Loved the DeLorean! My favorite aspect was that they did a really good job with the casting: I really felt like I was watching the original Marty, George, Jennifer, Loraine, principal Strickland, and Biff. (Doc was good, but definitely felt different than the original.) I was sitting all the way back, so maybe that helped in this case. My only disappointment was that the skateboard scene was replaced with a locker room scene, which while not bad, can’t quite replace the original. It’s a pretty iconic scene of the movie, which they should not have skipped in my opinion. Overall, we all very much enjoyed it. Worth it.

  • Thoroughly Impressed!!!

by Jamie on 6/24/25West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

This was the best play/musical I have ever seen. Such a theatrical performance with extremely talented performers. If you haven’t seen this yet- you’re not going to want to miss it. Truly out of this world, was totally blown away by this dynamic show the cast and crew put on. 10/10 would recommend and see again.

  • Great venue, great show, great tech!

by tjsoundguy on 6/24/25West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - RochesterRating: 5 out of 5

Rochester venue is beautiful. Front of house staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The show is super fun. Very silly total nostalgia bomb in the best way. Cast was stellar. The tech is truly impressive. It may have been the best sounding national tour I’ve heard in years. Crisp and clean. All of the tech is very impressive. How they integrate the video with the stage automation is amazing.

  • A breath of fresh air and plenty of fun

by Kurtsy on 6/23/25West Herr Auditorium Theatre at West Herr Performing Arts Center - RochesterRating: 4 out of 5

This was a really fun musical! It brings the nostalgia in from the original BTTF movie. Love the music, and the dance scenes which introduced so many concepts. 80’s, 50’s, futuristic, psychedelic-ish. The musical is funny and very comedic, not taking itself too seriously except when it’s necessary. It’s very spot on with the movie, but with fun music and musical theater antics. Marty Mcfly was amazing. There was only one major change to the plot, but I completely understand why it was changed. It really doesn’t affect anything, or how goals were accomplished through the story. The special effects were breathtaking. That was the coolest thing I’ve seen in musical theater. One thing I didn’t like as much was some of the innuendos, but I get some people find it funny. Still definitely see it!
