  • Cute

by puffdotty on 11/22/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

It's a fun show, but... the pace seemed slow, and the dancing and singing was overall somewhat lackluster. Maybe it's because it was a Tuesday night, the first show of the week - maybe Friday or Saturday performances are tighter with more energy.

  • Boring songs and sad imitation of movie

by Major theatre lover on 11/22/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 2 out of 5

Some fun special effects and inventive 80s jokes were not enough to justify this boring attempt at a musical version of Back to the Future. The story is identical, the performances tried to mimic the characters from the movie and the generic songs added nothing… so just watch the movie! It’s so good and you won’t waste your money sitting through this. I left at intermission which could not have come sooner.

  • I didn't know what I was getting into

by jas on 11/22/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I've never watched Back To The Future before but I DO love musicals! And this one was a blast. The actors all had great flair and expression. Each character felt truly unique and the music was pleasant.

  • Ok Show

by Zyloman on 11/20/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

Very well choreographed show and fun but not spectacular. The storyline did not exactly follow the movie storyline with some chunks left out. I would rate it 3.5 stars if I could. Overall decent but I wouldn't make it a top priority.

  • A very fun night of theater.

by Aaron on 11/20/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Back to the Future the Musical at the Pantages Theater was a lot of fun. The cast is excellent, and the show's effects are stunning. The show's audience ranged from young children to the elderly, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. The show basically follows the same story as Back to the Future I, with the exceptions that they removed Einstein the dog, and the terrorists. If you want a fun, family friendly night at the theater, it is definitely worth seeing.

  • An excellent fan experience

by Chris Y on 11/20/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

Back to the Future: The Musical was a joy for this BTTF fan. It hit all the movie notes it needed to while being a fun stage comedy. It had at least two more songs than it needed to (Jennifer and Biff didn't need motivation songs), but on the whole, the numbers were catchy. Not "Defying Gravity"catchy, but catchy for a Back to the Future fan. It had a lot of fun with the incest comedy aspect of the film as well as race relations that were mentioned but never directly addressed in the film, which I appreciate.

  • Great FX, weak musical

by Marty McFly fan on 11/20/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 2 out of 5

I love BTTF, but this felt like a high school decided to add unnecessary dance and music numbers to a perfect movie. I would've been happy to see this without any new music. Trust me when I say, none of the new songs are memorable in any way, and in fact, they just slow down the play. It runs at about 2:15, which is longer than the movie, even though they eliminated or shortened many of the key scenes. If you like FX, then definitely check out how they make the Deloreon look like it's really driving. That was cool. But if you're looking for a great musical, this ain't it.

  • A Good Time for Super Fans, But Not Great Theater

by Ross Blocher on 11/19/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

My son and I had a great time as fans of the movie, but it's not great theater. The many added songs are generic and unmemorable (I kept checking my watch and the program to see how many more there would be), the humor has been played up to an absurdly frenetic level, and there are many plot changes that are more often confusing than interesting. There’s some really cool stage effects work (especially with the DeLorean), though, and it’s fun just to hang out with a bunch of other super fans. My son was just one of many wearing a "life preserver".

  • Awful

by S.E. on 11/19/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 1 out of 5

One of the worst shows I’ve ever seen at the Pantages. We left at intermission. It was like watching a high school production.

  • Great scott 👏

  • The Musical Back to the Future

by Angie on 11/18/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

The Musical Back to the Future is amazing. The actors and actresses are fantastic. I plan on going back to see it again.

  • Nostalgic scenes, but weak songs.

by Your Density on 11/18/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

It was fun to see live reenactments of scenes from such a great film. Actors did great. The songs, though, were weak, somewhat annoying, and forgettable.

  • Left at the interval. What is this insanity?

by BTTFfan on 11/18/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 2 out of 5

Maybe it’s because I love the movie so much, but honestly this show does nothing to improve or evolve the source material. I just don’t get it. It starts with two terrible songs that puts you in the wrong frame of mind for what is to come. I found the cast to be lackluster, with some mimicking the movie and others putting their own spin on characters. It feels like they are all understudies thrust into the limelight for one night only. ‘Save and restore the clock tower is a perfect example of’ if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Wonderful set and special effects, but that’s where it ends. Bad songs, weird changes to make it fit into a stage show. A waste of a few hundred bucks. Best stay home and rewatch the movie. Disappointed 😔

  • entertaining

If you liked the movies this show will bring back nice memories. Singing and dancing okay but the pleasure us is celebrating the characters and the zany ideas of tme travel

  • Cute show with some hiccups

by Ceis on 11/15/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

Unfortunately sitting on the right side of the theatre we missed a lot of of the special effects lighting during the time travel scenes. The sound also was not the greatest this time at the Pantages. I had a hard time understanding the leads vocals when accompanied by the Swing. Their voices were muffled and didn’t project and stand out. The solos when the music wasn’t overpowering were good. We throughly enjoyed George McFly. He was so funny and cloned the movies actor. I’m glad we saw the show.

  • Great Effects

by SandyMonica on 11/13/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

The visual effects are great. The music was lively, however, wish there was more music from the eighty’s! All in all a quite enjoyable experience.

  • Impressed

by UnitedNations on 11/13/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

I took my daughter to see this - I had no expectations, and wasn’t especially looking forward to it (except for spending time with her!) I was so impressed! The sets and scenery were amazing. The singing was spectacular. I’d easily go back to take daughter #2!

  • Great family play

by Sanktt on 11/13/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

We were looking for a musical at the request of a visiting granddaughter from New Zealand. This was showing at the time of visit and it was perfect. 13 of the family were able to coordinate a date for Sunday, Nov 10, ages 8 to 73. We all loved it. Well done, great singing and dancing, fun story and fantastic special effects. The movie came out when the eldest kids were young, so the story was “new” to those 35 and younger. Pantages is a beautiful, iconic venue and so it adds to the uniqueness of the whole experience. With so many attending, we chose mezzanine seats for their price and so we could be together-5 in front and 6 behind in next row. Of course it would be nice to be closer but it was doable-nobody complained. It was a sellout-no empty seats in the mezzanine and I imagine orchestra and floor seating was the same. Great family outing, building memories.

  • Great fun!

by Bahlstrom on 11/13/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

True to the story, amazing staging and special effects, fabulous cast, indefatigable ensemble cast! All one could ask for in a recreation of one of one’s favolite all time movies!

  • Fun musical

by BillB on 11/13/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

This is a fun and well done musical . The car effects alone are worth the price of admission.
