  • Fun

Fun. Great and nostalgic show! Definitely would recommend to family and friends.

  • Entertaining

by Susan on 11/13/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

I read some reviews prior to attending and I was expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised to find that I was entertained. The music is not memorable but the characters and special effects made up for it. I need 50 more letters so I’m typing to try to reach the minimum. But

  • Amazing Journey

by Kerry on 11/12/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Great performers and spectacular sets, lighting, special effects and choreography make this even more amazing than the movie -- and it's all live, on stage, right there in front of you! Upbeat music, singing and dancing make this an evening that takes you away from the drab ordinary world outside and gives you a feeling of hope and happiness.

  • Worth the money!

by 86 Lily on 11/12/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

The 80’s were my childhood decade and I am totally grateful for that because it was a great time to be a kid. BTTF was a big deal movie and so to say I came to this show with both high expectations and some fear (due to that flop Beetlejuice play) would be accurate. There were a few tweaks made (can’t have terrorists in shows anymore I guess) BUT remarkably it took nothing away from the show. I did miss them not including Doc’s dog Einey. Brillance worth mentioning for my BTTF super fans- first act had tiny rifts that nodded to songs in the original soundtrack that blended in so perfectly yet if you know the soundtrack by heart, you caught this subtle touch. The sets were great, the effects with the DoLorean were the best I’ve ever seen on stage. Every single cast member was perfect in their role. When Marty races toward the clock tower I was on the edge of my seat ready to jump up and cheer… just like the first time watching the movie. No play has ever captured me that powerfully. I sincerely hope I get to see them again next tour, until then I’m OuttaTime.

  • Fantastic Show!

by Deb on 11/12/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

This show was wonderful and just unbelievable! I've never seen a stage show with such fabulous special effects outside of Vegas. I wondered before seeing it how Back to the Future could be presented as a stage show, and it was done very successfully!

  • Terrible…Felt like a high School Production

by LA Native34 on 11/12/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 1 out of 5

The play had to stop twice for technical difficulties. Each time was about 20-30 minutes of the audience waiting for the show to start again. Wanted to leave, but sadly these tickets are expensive so I couldn’t justify walking out. Acting was honestly not great. Did not enjoy the performance by both Marty Mcfly and Doc Brown. Seemed like they use to be performers at Disneyland and now are doing this. Felt their dialogue and acting to be very cheesy and cringe. The best part were those who played Marty’s mom and Dad. No notes for them as they made this high-school production bearable. Just a regrettable time at the Pantages. See it if you like, but oof I didn’t enjoy. Also, the audience booed at one point and I had to join in. Terrible play.

  • Loved it. Expected

Really fun and entertaining. Love the movie, and love the merch. Huge back to the future fan. I will plan to attend again.

  • Lack luster

by B2F huge fan on 11/12/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

I was very excited to take my entire family to this show given the nostalgia of the movie. We bought our tickets months in advance for this past Saturday’s show, and our expectations were high. Unfortunately the show was riddled with technical difficulties that caused the show to stop twice during the first half with about a 15-20 min wait between cuts. The Anouncer mentioned they were having trouble with the WiFi. On both occasions the interruption took the momentum and wind out of the sails from the show and instead of a professional pantagees high ticket show it felt like more of a high school musical I participated in the 1990s, very disappointing. However the actress who played Marty’s mom carried the first half of the show on her back and was completely hilarious. During the second act the crew managed to get themselves together, and the show continued without a hitch and was just lovely and emotional. I particularly loved the scenes where doc was telling Marty how much of an impact he had on his life. There was this random light saber scene that made no sense and looked like it was put in for comedic humor but it completely missed the mark. Do I regret going? No. Was it worth the price? No. Did the show come even close to Book of Mormon, wicked, or rock of ages? No, no, no. In my humble opinion.

  • Bringing You Back in Time

by Ed S. on 11/11/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

As a Back to the Future fan I was initially skeptical on what the musical version might bring. The musical was very entertaining. They had most elements of the movie in the musical but with some modifications (some I liked and some I didn't). Also, some of the musical numbers were just ok and didn't blow me away. What they did a great job of were the Delorean sequences. All in all it was highly entertaining, especially if you are a lover of the film.

  • Lots of fun! Great effects!

by GP on 11/10/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 5 out of 5

Back to the Future is a fun filled show you can take the whole family to. The very talented cast sang and danced marvelously through this adventure. The car and technical effects were awesome ! I’d highly recommend.

  • Stage effects are great. Story drags on

by KW on 11/10/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 1 out of 5

Every scene goes on for 5 minutes too long. Current events/pop culture references fell flat

  • Technical issues throughout the show

by Phil on 11/9/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 4 out of 5

There was a large noticeable column of video panels not working throughout the show. It ruined the immersion of both major DeLorean scenes. The finale DeLorean scene is worth half the price of admission after I saw it on Broadway, and unfortunately that scene was kinda ruined on November 5 in Los Angeles.

  • Back To The Review

by RaRa on 11/8/24Hollywood Pantages Theatre - Los AngelesRating: 3 out of 5

I gave this performance a 3 Star Rating out of 5 for the following reasons. Although myself and my guest had a good time at the show I can easily see how most audience members could get bored or uninterested quickly. This show is very much a show for huge B.T.F. Nerds or superfans. If you are one then yiu are enjoying yourself as your favorite scenes, lines, and moments come to life on stage. Most of the first act songs are quite awkward and definitely were a stretch to fit into the storyline. Aside from the that the dancing, special effects, and slight changes made to the story were well done. Definitely a show for the superfans and not the general public.

  • So great!

by Melissa on 10/3/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I was very curious to see how they would take such a classic movie and make it into a musical and it far exceeded my expectations. The actors were incredible and the special effects were outstanding. It is such a fun show and I would highly recommend it.

This was a super fun experience for the whole family. A musical that combines the storyline and characters of Back to the Future with the intimacy of the stage. You'll feel drawn in by the songs and blown away by the special effects. It's a great show!

  • Super fun show

by Jenn on 9/25/24Orpheum Theatre - MinneapolisRating: 5 out of 5

I decided to see Back to the Future the musical on recommendation from my 11 year nephew. It's his "absolute favorite musical of all time." I went with 2 adult friends and my 5 year old kid. Everyone had a really great time. Every time something in the show matched up with something in the movie, my daughter would nudge me with a thumbs up and a big grin. And there a lot of nudges and grinning. And the things that were not in the movie were crazy, fun flashbacks into the 80s. The future ladies were dressed pretty much like my astronaut Barbie from when I was 8. Overall great fun and my daughter was so into it she's been singing Doc Brown's ballad ever since.
